I have been going through the posts on this board, but thought to just post my question. I am a DVC member/AP holder who for years enjoyed the early registration option for runDisney. I was extremely disappointed when they removed that benefit and started charging for ClubRun. I respect where ever people want to spend their money, but I wanted to understand what you all saw as a real benefit. I typically run Princess and do the challenge sometimes with the 5 k, sometimes without. I have run W&D and would love to do that challenge again. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the $900 price for what doesn't seem like many benefits except guaranteed registration (which you still pay for?).
I am genuinely curious what benefits you have seen with this Club to help me make a more informed decision about whether to join come May 23rd (if they have spots).
It is quite a bit of money, but there are some benefits for me.
If you are really planning to do at least a couple of race weekends, the guaranteed registration benefit takes away all of the stress, and for me is the main CrD benefit. You don’t have to worry about not getting registered. (If you want to add the 5K to those Challenges you mentioned, you’re looking at the Club runDisney Platinum level, which gives you 2 guaranteed registrations each race weekend.)
Getting into the Expo early for merchandise and bib/packet pickup is nice. If you worry about things selling out, especially with the new virtual queue system for non-CrD shoppers, that could be worth something to you. It also saves time and makes Expo day more relaxing, which for me is a nice added perk.
Platinum also gets the B corral, which can mean shorter lines and more time for photo ops.
The virtual race, the jacket, etc., didn’t really factor into my decision to get CrD, they’re just extra perks.
In the end, doing 2+ runDisney race weekends is going to be expensive. Club runDisney adds to the expense, yes, but spreading the cost over the events mitigates that some, and the benefits for both the registration and race weekend experience pushed it over the top for me,
Hope this helps!
