Back in the Club, this time at Platinum! Excited for this year, especially with C2C!

I just got my Gold renewal invitation ... still debating.

I belong to a Club RunDisney group on Facebook. Looks like emails started arriving at 10:45 am eastern. By the time I saw my email and clicked on the link at just before 11, platinum was sold out. You are likely right, high % of renewals and very few spots available.

Now I am really confused. As mentioned, I accessed the link in my email just before 11 and platinum was showing as sold out (and continues to show as sold out). But in that Facebook group I mentioned, there are some people who are able to upgrade to platinum now at 11:30, even though for many others it is showing as sold out.

That's so weird, and honestly frustrating -- I get having limited spots for sure, but the randomness of it is bizarre

I don't know... I think the two jackets, magnets, medals was pretty good value for the money... but the same money for one year? Absolutely not.

I was a charter silver member and the 2 years of stuff was nice. It also was I think $150 or so.... I let last years laps because I couldn't justify it for silver and I was only doing wine and dine so it wasn't worth it. Now I'm getting FOMO and I'm doing MW and Disneyland this year so I'm like do I spring for it? It's another $250+ for silver (I can't remember the cost). I still wear the black jacket all the time.

I was hoping to register for Gold on the 23rd when it opens up to new members but things are not looking so good if platinum is already gone for existing upgrades. Oh well. Will save me money. Back to the Hunger Games!

There are several people in the Facebook group I mentioned who think RD has held back platinum spots to be sold to some new members when general registration opens on May 23, similar to the way that only a portion of the bibs used to be available for early registration for AP and DVC members. Thoughts? That strikes me as highly unlikely, given the “pending availability, memberships will go on sale to the general public” wording on the RunDisney website. As a gold who couldn’t upgrade, I will be extremely pissed if that’s the case and new members can buy platinum while I was unable to upgrade.

It seems unlikely. Why alienate existing members? Better to let them upgrade and then sell their now vacant gold level to new customers.

I can see it. Either that or they will expand membership for new members. I don't know why you would set a registration date for new members if you would have no levels available.

Last year for general registation the only thing that didn't sell out was silver (which is worthless anyways IMO). They had to gift them to influencers to "promote" it.

Disney needs to add 1-2 more perks per level I think. Especially for silver. There is no on site runDisney perk for silver.

Platinum sold out early during the Gold member's renewal period. I have no idea of the numbers, but it's also possible Gold will sell out this week, and only Silver would be available for general purchase next week.

All of the membership perks only cover the member. You can't even bring someone with you into the early Expo time.
