Closing Time!

This is good info to know - thanks for sharing.
Definitely do some research/due diligence, particularly in the ROFR threads. Don't take my word or opinion as gospel. I think you'll find that Mason is 99.9% of the time a winning strategy. You may also find some strong cautionary tales regarding Fidelity. Granted, the DIS boards are only representative of the experiences of board members, but Fidelity inarguably has far more "hiccups" than any other broker.

I have some IRL friends who have shared what brokers they use/have used so have a couple to look into now.
For my initial purchase I'm going through DVC resale market with Magic Vacation title. Once ROFR closes, we'll see how it goes.

No Mason apologist, but over the last 3+ years, this is the very first issue I've ever read about Mason (beyond the ubiquitous bellyaching about every title company taking longer than the buyer would like), versus numerous issues with other title companies. Also, each of the issues on this particular transaction can quite easily be tied back to either the selling agent (Fidelity, of which there are reams of stories about complete screw ups), or the seller. Mason, by leaps and bounds (and Cammy Smith in particular) is the only company many many seasoned buyers here on the boards will use, with many paying more for the ability to go with her. The issues with this singular contract are most definitely the exception rather than the rule. Mason is by far the very best out there (ok, maybe I do sound like an apologist LOL).

I have used Mason on 7 of my 8 resale contracts and had zero issues. Great communication and lightning fast. I used another company on one contract (before I knew I could force the issue on which company we would use) and the level of service, communication, and expedience were all significant let downs.

Also, Fidelity actually doesn't use Mason as a rule. You normally have to request Mason when buying a Fidelity listed contract. I'd be far more wary of Fidelity than Mason, so much so that it wouldn't even be up for debate.
Well said and i totally agree with you. I had a couple issues with Fidelity that made me irate but got through it and i did request Mason. Cammy is absolutely the best and things went smoothly. Everyone is human and yes mistakes can happen but saying that i haven't read more than one from Mason.
I just want to say since you are a seasoned contract expert i enjoy reading your comments and you always have good info..thank you for that!

Yes that sounds better... Seasoned might not sound the best lol
I like seasoned, it sounds like you’ve been salted and peppered 🤣 I’ll speak for myself. I must be seasoned…people are always telling me I’m salty. They’re saying I’m old and wise. That’s what they mean, right? 🤣

Ok, question…I returned my docs 3/17.
The sellers docs were due be received yesterday (I called Mason on Monday). I’m going to give it a day or two to see if I hear back - but do you consider tomorrow too soon to check in? I have all of ‘21 and ‘22 points banked and while I have a little time to use them, I would rather get booked in outside of the busy/scorching summer months.

Just my opinion I would probably call just to get a update. I think it is crazy that it takes that long for a seller to send papers back. I had to get mine notarized and so did the seller (i took a loan) and had them overnighted the next day. The seller did the same. I would call. Just the point that it is taking over 10 days at least to get Disney to set up the account (I am on day 13 on waiting) you want this to get a move on. I am past the 6 month time frame of where i want to book so that is a bummer. we will see what happens...

Did anyone who had their deed recorded on 3/16 get their membership email yet??? I still have another two weeks before we lose the start of the 7 month window, so I'm not TOO worried yet, but today marks two weeks and I was spoiled by seeing all those 7/8 day ranges earlier this month!

Right?!
My sellers took a week to sign, so I’m a week behind you… but those 7-10 turnarounds set unrealistic expectations.

I'm with you. Deeded recorded 3/17 but I haven't seen it pop up in my account yet. I'd like to book for late July so I'm eager to get the points.

Really pleased we received our closing docs so quickly since we are working with First American and I know they don't have a great track record for speed or efficiency. Still focusing on the 65 day deadline to close and not assuming we will close any earlier - gotta manage those expectations!

We received our closing docs from Mason this morning... and also received the Sellers' closing docs from Mason in a separate email but had the sellers' names attached to our email addresses in the email header.

So I'm guessing buyers don't usually receive a duplicate copy of the sellers' docs, right? I've let Marcelo know and our broker too since I'm guessing the other party doesn't have these docs to go get notarized.

My deed was the 10th recorded on the March 16. It was recorded at 7:35 am.

I figure they go in order unless someone's is pulled per a request.

Smart to notice, and stay on it. Mistakes do happen.

i feel like there were a TON of us who purchased our contracts mid-February, so the bottlenecking has been real!

Yes, and although I'm finding the longer Membership Number issuance stressful, it's nice to note, the Member Services seems to be getting points posted quickly (in a couple days vs a week in the past) once the Member Admin gets the Membership Number inputted :)

I am still waiting too for the 16th.... i am at 6 month range for when we want to go so i am not overly jolly. So i am hoping that it will be today or tomorrow.
