we closed yesterday on a bcv resale. just about 3 weeks earlier than expected. do i have to wait the ten days to call and make plans for our first trip? seems to me i saw something different on these boards saying that you could call and they have your name in computer.

After closing, it usually takes around a week before you'll be in the DVC computer. You can call and see if they have you in yet, but until your account is there you won't be able to make reservations or do any other transactions.

Welcome Home! :)

You may be able to make the reservation anyway or at least make it as a cash reservation and then switch it over to points.

i am a little anxious because we were given 210 banked points to be used before april 2007. would like to make use of them as soon as possible. being new to all of this i do not know how early you really have to book to get the suite size you want. thanks for the help.

Congratulations & Welcome Home!!!

Is this possible? If you have a cash ressie already and decide to use points for the stay, will they refund your cash money and switch the reservations to points? Thanks in advance!

No, that cannot happen. Cash reservations come from a different inventory than points. While the cash reservation can be cancelled with a refund within a short time prior to arrival, it cannot simply be "converted" to a point reservation - there must be availability in the DVC member inventory for a point reservation.

There is cash availability at many of the DVC resorts right now for early December, but no points availability. There would be no way to "convert" the cash reservation to use your points.

Thanks Webmaster Doc. I saw the recommendation above and was wondering if this was possible. Thanks Again!

What about at Non-DVD Resorts (Say Coronado, Port Orleans, etc)? Does it work the same way at these? Is there inventory for points and seperate inventory for cash reservations?

The non-DVC resorts do not have any inventory saved for DVC members- it is all on a first-come-first-served basis competing with regular cash reservations. Generally, stays at the non-DVC resorts will be more costly than better accommodations at DVC resorts. Also keep in mind that once points are committed to the non-DVC resort they cannot later be used at a DVC resort if they are returned to the account due to cancellation. they will remain as "Reservation Points" and may only be used for other non-DVC options.

for anyone who cares - still not in DVC computer. anxious to use those 2005 banked points.
