I have a few little finishes to share:

Here is two water bottle holders that are part of a Big Give parcel! I made them with a great free online tutorial. I have been wanting to try them for ages and it worked out great. I am going to make 6 for us for our upcoming trip. What an easy way to carry water around the parks with you!

The tutorial is here in case anyone else wants to try:

How tough are the straps? Like I would be worried they would break.
If not they look cool!!! :)

Hi all...just checking in...seeing how all of you guys are...

Granny update...MUCH improvement today. She is able to put 9 words together!:cool1: She is feeling great...they started her new meds today. We will see how she is doing with that later.

To keep myself busy today:badpc: ...I did my taxes:crazy2: Just glad they are done. Good news is...Disney is now paid for

I have washed and ironed my fabric for my bowling shirt for the big give and will be sewing it tomorrow!

And look...I got me a working Big Give button too!:thumbsup2

I am so happy Granny is doing better. It is hard for the brain to repair itself but it rewire and she will soon have good skills but in a different way. It is just great news and let her know we will continue to pray for her recovery.

Great job on the taxes. Is that what you used to pay Disney? You are very efficient. I am also going to make a bowling shirt but have to get myself to get going on it.

They are four layers of fabric and they are attached with a wicked zig zag stitch about 4 times over. They will hold the weight of a water bottle no problem. I wouldn't make them with ribbon like the tutorial shows.

Cheers
Alison

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. She is still feeling ok right now, but her body is slowly starting to reject the chemo. We look forward to getting away with her and celebrating what could be her last bday in grand style at Disney. I am grateful that my kids will have those memories and pictures to cherish forever. I am just sad that my DS 2 1/2 probably won't really remember her which breaks my heart!

Sorry to ramble.. Snubie thanks for the pattern. I actually have that here in my stash so I think I will CASE that right now!

I hope you have a wonderful trip filled with great memories that last forever.

I LOVE the water bottle carriers! I can't wait to make one for myself, that way when i walk I don't have to carry the water!! I wish I had some of that insulate (or whatever it is called) on hand and I would be off sewing right now.

I actually used regular quilt batting. It should work just as well from what I can figure. The insulate is more for keeping things hot. As I made them for florida I figured if they are going to get warm they are going to get warm!!:)

I don't really have a sewing room or space. I just use my basement table to sew and I do my cutting upstairs while the kids nap :)

Thanks!

My sewing area is my dining room... just really messy ;)
Although Hubby and I just decided that I can have a wall in our bedroom for sewing :cool1: . I was looking at sewing tables online and found a couple that might be nice in that space. But I am not convinced it something I "need". The first step is cleaning out that area and moving my stuff up.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I will post pics when it's done!

I have a very messy sewing area right now. Too many projects going at once. I built this space for scrapbooking a few years ago and now it is used for mostly sewing.

Be prepared for Disaster.

Don't know why the picture is blurry? Perhaps I moved....can you find a hidden mickey?

The Mickey was the first thing I saw!!! It's a great room - love it.

My sewing "area" is my dining room table, and a pile of boxes and baskets next to my dining room table, and a corner of my didning room, and a rather large unorganized section of my basement that looks like a fabric store blew up in it! No way am I posting pictures of that!

Aawwww come on! You're not going to post a pic? :)

I have the same issue, except smaller. I need to design a useful area in my dining room to use for sewing. I found a few articles that I think may be useful. I think I will pck and choose from the things I like.

HTH!!

Love these ideas!

I just got this sewing table a couple of nights ago.

I love it. It holds a ton of stuff, folds out to a nice big area and is actually a nice looking piece of furniture. Finally, my machine is off the dining room table.

I wanted to buy a similar table, but we bought some folding tables that aren't pretty, but can be put away when I need more space.

OK everyone - would it be tacky to have a GIANT framed pic of Audrey Hepburn in my sewing room? (As much as I want pics of shirtless Sawyer, from LOST I think that might be a tad tacky)

Thanks!
Stephanie

Hi - so sorry to hear about your sister - so hard for all of you....I hope you have a truely wonderful trip and enjoy every second of it with her. Take lots and lots of pictures for your 2 year old so he will always treasure this trip. I'll definately keep you guys in my prayers.:grouphug:

Poll:

Simply Sweet or Stripwork Jumper?

Thanks!

Definately simply sweet - i think you would get more options, and i found the real difference to be that the strip shows you how to make the strips, but you could prob figure that out yourself. THe simply sweet has the different shoulder straps and the haulter bodice if you are in to that look.

Thanks for posting that. I was wondering if that would work. I think I am going to make some of those for Pixie Dust.

I am millions of pages behind right now....hopefully I can catch up a little bit this weekend! Anyways, I just wanted to share that we booked our November trip finally! It took awhile to organize everyone so we could finalize getting the house. We are staying in Windsor Hills for a week! :cool1: :cheer2: :thumbsup2   party: :jumping1:

Glad to hear this. I was thinking it made it nice and sturdy, so if I can achieve that using something different I will. I know I have a little quilt batting around here somewhere. I'll have to look!

Do you have any storybook panel batting? That would probably work. It's more condensed than regular batting.

Oh, and whip up a couple for me would ya? :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

:confused3 I started sewing at 8:00 am today, I will say that I spent around 4 hrs just trying to come out with the pattern!!!:sad2: :faint: I was having a hard time because the pattern looked so little I was not even sure...

I will tell you that I forgot how to cut the sleeves and my mother came to my rescue:grouphug:

this is the outfit

You guys all have such great talent! I have very basic sewing skills and I was wondering how to get the edging around the shapes that you sew on? I only have a regular sewing machine... Please help!
