I'm really have no self esteem!!! That's why I keep postponing going to school for fashion ( I was supposed to start back on August) as I really feel that I do not have the talent:blush: and specially when I see some of the outfits posted here--unbelievable!!!!!---

You guys do not know how much I debated with this one, as I thought it was not really much:snooty: :snooty:
SO ...THANK YOU for the encouragement, I feel better:flower3:

Jessica : I lost your quote but I love the t shirts you made!!! sorry if this been ask before but do you have and embroidery machine (if so which one?) or do you hand piece, the stitches just look so perfect!!!

Maybe I should stop buying handbags:faint: :faint: ::yes:: :scared: :scared: and just get me a good sewing/embroidery machine!!!
You know my opinion on the handbags. :rotfl2: My DH interrupted our phone call just so I could go get him for dinner. Can you believe that? Men!!:upsidedow

:confused3 I started sewing at 8:00 am today, I will say that I spent around 4 hrs just trying to come out with the pattern!!!:sad2: :faint: I was having a hard time because the pattern looked so little I was not even sure...

I will tell you that I forgot how to cut the sleeves and my mother came to my rescue:grouphug:

Linnette
WOW Linnette...this is INCREDIBLE!!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!!! Even though you may not see it....you know WE all think you ROCK!!!!! Get yourself over to DESIGN SCHOOL and FAST!!!! Do not stop...go straight there!!!

Thanks for everyone's input regarding the Simply Sweet vs. the Stripwork. Looks like I'll be buying the Simply Sweet. I am officially 41 wks pregnant today and all I can do is sit and sew (oh, and sleep... I doze off a few times each day and then am up until 2am sewing and checking this addicting board!)

Wow, great job. Its perfect!

Linette - so cute and creative !!! GREAT JOB!!!:cool1:

Im almost embarassed to post this after that, but I promised someone I'd show them Tim's animal outfit made to coordinate with his sisters Valentine animal print outfits - do you think the heart on the shirt is too girlie? It means he loves animals - which he does...(he is 4)???

th_100_0639.jpg
th_100_0640.jpg
th_100_0641.jpg

Really cute! Since you asked, I think the heart is a little girlie. I thought at first the shirt was for you DD and you were coordinating it with the pants for your DS. If it would be a pain to remove it, leave it... no one would have even noticed it except that you pointed it out. Plus, he's only 4... when my DS was 4 I was still dressing him in smocked jumpers (talk about girlie ;) )

41 weeks:scared1: You need to tell that little baby to get out of there.:)

Finally finished Madilynn's Valentine's skirt (and it's still 2 wks away). And one for her American Doll, Emily. I can't wait for her to get up in the morning and see it. I can definitely see me making more of these.
SDC10560.jpg

There are quite a few flaws on this one but I refuse to focus on them. It's hard to sew in a circle. Now I need to decide what pattern to buy next :)

Oh no... My quotes. :(
Is there an evil quote deleting fairy or something???
:confused3

What is a rolled hem or overlock feature?? You mean I dont' have to double iron and then sew??? What??? Is there an easier way?? is there a special foot for it? is the same one as the binding foot?
My machine doesn't have a special stitch for rolled hem. It just uses a rolled hem foot. Come to think of it. I bought that foot, and haven't used it yet. I forgot I had it!!!
Overlock is a stich most machines have. My mom's ancient Kenmore machine even has it. It is the stitch that looks like triangles sorta. Hard to describe. On my machine is actually called overcast... On my mom's it is called serging stitch. It finishes the edge of the fabric like serging does except you have to trim the fabric yourself and make sure you are letting the stitch go over the edge to finish off the fabric. I use it ALOT! I guess you are making french seams to finish stuff off? I use those when I do heirloom stuff, but I can't imagine doing it all the time. It is a pain in the booty! I hope to be getting a Babylock Evolve sometime in the near future, so I don't have to overcast and trim and all that anymore. Plus I want coverstitch and wave stitch!

I think this one has a rolled hem foot. I have seen pictures of other machine's "rolled Hem" and it looks like a great little feature. It makes an adorable rounded hem at the end of the fabric and looks so cute on ruffled pieces. It just seems like it would be so nice to have something to finish off seams so quickly. I don't know what a binding foot is, I would guess you would have to use binding with that one. This one just uses the machine thread. It also comes with a ruffler foot which I need desperatly!
Is it computerized??? That is my favorite thing about my sewing machine I have right now. I have a Brother PC-6000. I got it for a great price, and you can still get them. I got it from one of those vacuum and sewing center sites online. They were located in Alabama and it was free shipping.
It is super user friendly. It has an on screen guide that basically sets the stitches for everything you want to do. I also like the automatic needle threader and the stitch cutting function on it. I have alot less problems with it than the non-computerized machine I had before. I think it is just because it is so user friendly. It is just an easy peasy machine. I think the link you posted was a Janome? I don't remember, but I know lots of people love Janome.
I just got this sewing table a couple of nights ago.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1984564
I love it. It holds a ton of stuff, folds out to a nice big area and is actually a nice looking piece of furniture. Finally, my machine is off the dining room table.
That's really nice. My DH built me a fabric cutting table, but we never got around to the sewing table part yet. Right now I just sew on my cutting table... which is okay, but my machine is heavy and hard to move when I want to cut something. I am going to show him this to give him a little push... ;)

Just testing to see if my signature works:

(how come there is only 1/2 a Big Give Link?)
Your signature can only be a certain size. If you go over the size it cuts you off. Might be your ticker taking up so much room.

I am millions of pages behind right now....hopefully I can catch up a little bit this weekend! Anyways, I just wanted to share that we booked our November trip finally! It took awhile to organize everyone so we could finalize getting the house. We are staying in Windsor Hills for a week! :cool1:
Congrats!!!

I guess it is a tad bit girly, but really not that noticeable. I was drawn more to the animals than the heart. It is reall cute!
Ugh! I am having an evening. Annoyed with the camera. Batteries are dead for my one, all 4 sets are dead! I have the worst luck with rechargable batteries lately! They just don't recharge and I let Dallas burn through a set on his camera.

So, get my new camera out which just seems to suck! I wanted one to fit in my pocket and is more then 2x the megapixels I usually use but it just stinks! So here are some horrible pictures.

Oh, and I used a red shirt, which I don't like and forgot I wanted it to put Fantasia Mickey on. I am having shirt issues because I don't have any in size 8! Or well, for any of us for the most part.

You can probably get an embroidery machine for the price of one of those handbags! :lmao:
Seriously, there are great deals right now on factory serviced machines. :)

Oh you poor thing! More baby dust for you! :goodvibes
Are you smocking for the baby???
I so wish I had smocked when Hannah was little. I didn't even know about smocking then though... until I realized my MIL taught smocking classes and didn't make my DD any dresses.

Finally finished Madilynn's Valentine's skirt (and it's still 2 wks away). And one for her American Doll, Emily. I can't wait for her to get up in the morning and see it. I can definitely see me making more of these.

Is that a flouncy skirt?? I haven't made very many skirts. I have no clue. I want to get a skirt pattern.
I can imagine the difficulties sewing in a circle!!!

I have all the embroidery and applique work done on my Valentine Mickey & Minnie dress. Thanks Heather Sue for the great tutorial! I am hoping to sew it together tonight. I know Linette posted a sew along type of thing in one of the threads. I hope I can find it. I am making Vida for the first time!:p

I don't think it's too girly for a 4 year old. He loves animals, is what it says to me. Cute!

Megan looked over my shoulder and said, "oooooooh!" at the fantasia shirt. It is awesome, and how perfect for the studios! We both love it!

They both look great and no one will see the flaws when they are on and being twirled around, believe me, I know.

Linette: love the Donald outfit! So cute!

Megan just informed me that she needs a new epcot outfit for the dismeet. And I still have to make her outfit for the western dance next Friday. And we have company coming in for the superbowl so I need to clean the house. Eek! :faint:

This is so cute, you should never doubt your abilities! I have a hard enough time sewing with a pattern and directions to follow.

I have a few little finishes to share:

Here is two water bottle holders that are part of a Big Give parcel! I made them with a great free online tutorial. I have been wanting to try them for ages and it worked out great. I am going to make 6 for us for our upcoming trip. What an easy way to carry water around the parks with you!

The tutorial is here in case anyone else wants to try:

I am going to make these for my dds for our next trip. It will be our first trip without a stroller and I think my dds are old enough to carry their own water.
Thanks for the link.

Emily

Those look sooo good! Where did you get your embroidery designs? I love the broom!

The designs are done by hand. Only the name was done on the machine and it took me longer to do the name then the entire boy! :sad2:

I really like it. I don't think it is girly for 2 reasons. One being that it isn't a big ole red heart, it is not drawing alot of attention. Second one being that since I only have a boy, I don't think too many things look girly, unless it is super girly. Especially since it is for V'day, although I think it is fine for any day of the year. And even more so at 4!

I was looking at that one! Glad to hear it is really nice. My body would go into shock if I actually sewed sitting in a chair though. I sew hunched over my coffee table!:confused3

Cute! Love the hoodie! i have a book with a pattern for one of those water bottle things. I may have to try it!

Thanks!
I will post pics when it's done!

I wanted to buy a similar table, but we bought some folding tables that aren't pretty, but can be put away when I need more space.

OK everyone - would it be tacky to have a GIANT framed pic of Audrey Hepburn in my sewing room? (As much as I want pics of shirtless Sawyer, from LOST I think that might be a tad tacky)

Thanks!
Stephanie
I I was toying with a folding table so I could store it easily.

Ok as much as I don't want to go out today but Hancock has their licensed fabric 50% off and I have a additional 10% coupon so how can I not go?!?!?

Minnie2 - I was thinking about you last night as I was sewing. I learned to applique on jeans with no stablizer and was thinking for practice if you either had old jeans you could cut up or if you have some nice thick just cut away stablizer (felt also works) it is a great fabric to learn on. When I first got my embroidery machine I would test out the designs on felt playing around. I had to make a patch for an outfit and just used stablizer, it was like a dream to sew on vs anything else, so practice up with that! I know it won't be but a month or so down the road and your appliques will be in tip top shape!

thanks! I know practice makes perfect! Now i know how my kids feel when i say that to them!:rotfl: I may grab some felt and try to practice:) I am just not a good practicer I like to jump in with both feet. :lmao: My goal is to make Kyle one of those Star Wars Mickey appliques for our trip in Nov! So I have a few months to practice. Is there one that you find easier then the others???

I lost my quotes! Where did they go? That is so annoying...now from memory...

Linnette! LOVE the Donald Outift! Sooo cute!

Love the water bottle carrier thingys...I will be making those for sure and some for my mom's trip in April. She is taking my niece and my cousin and her daughter.

Yes...I had always planned to use my tax money for WDW...the good news is, I got enough back to more that pay for adding a dining plan!:cool1: I have a hard time talking DH into it...but I really want to go to more sit down places this time...so really it only makes perfect logical sense to get it...right? I dropped the bomb on him that just the 4 meals I had planned was about to run $400 and he gave me a look like what? Really, he has no idea how much these trips cost...if he did, we might not ever go...I do a lot of create finiancing in the months before.

Oh...he decided to help me clean lat night while I was at dance with Katie...when I came home, he had cleaned the kitchen and the kids play room and the living room...I thought great! That was until this morning, when I spotted a bag that used to be in my sewing room!:faint: Oh no! I went and opened the door...all my nicely ironed fabric was cramed into the cabinet! And the pieces I had cut laying on my ironing board...I think he thought was scrap, becuase I found one in the trash can...who know where the rest are! I guess I'll go searching....I am glad he helped with the cleaning...but he MUST stay away from that room!:sad2:

As soon as you said dh cleaned for you I thought of your sewing stuff. Dh cleaned up a little one in our bedroom and took the bag that was hanging on the door and tossed it. He thought it was trash...it was ALL my scraps! Then he got upset because I acted like I was happy he cleaned!!! :rotfl:

Great shirts. One of my goals in life is to be able to applique like that.

I guess I have my DH trained well enough. He doesn't touch anything fabric unless it is already clothing. :lmao:

Mine too. I have had an area of the basement all messed up lately cause I am in the process of making a new sewing area and if he decides to pick up he just piles everything on the one table, scraps and all. Thank God..

Sorry, I didn't see this last night Linette!

I do have an embroidery machine, but I don't use it for appliques. I get annoyed using it 90% of the time. I have used it before (for my first Wall E, Haunted Mansion Ghosts, and for the Malificent Minnie). I have a Brother Disney Ult2002D. It is about 8 years old but was the mega one back then (along with the mega price).

I hand pieced the boy and the broom and all our christmas stuff. I don't think I have used the machine to applique since October when I did the HM. I did use it last night for Dallas' name.

Thanks for the compliments! I will say, that I would assume having an expensive machine makes it sew better, but I also have a cheap costco one that works just fine!

Ok I need your honest feedback.
Instead of doing cheap china crap toys for Party Favors I have decided to make t shirts (Not super fancy, just a basic one) anyway I just got done sewing DS's (His is like the "test" one)
So tell me what you think.. FYI the frey check is still drying on it right now..
