At least you had a pretty button to put on there. I think it came out great:thumbsup2

Yesterday was my DD's second birthday. I made her a little purse for her birthday:

Here is my attempt at a Marie cake:

th_IMGP3897.jpg
IMGP3898.jpg

She loves "Kitty Marie". Her grandma bought that stuffed animal for her when we were in Disney World in the fall, and Ava still carries it everywhere.

I had some left-over fabric from the purse, so I put together a little pillowcase dress:

th_IMGP3957.jpg
Everything looks great! I love the cake.

I've gone back through and looked at all the great work. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this!

Here are some shots of outfits from our trip in 2007, when DD would allow me to make such a thing.
th_Img_0312rev-vi.jpg
All of the outfits are fantastic! The bag is super cute too!

Okay, here goes nothing! First attempt to post a photo...

th_IMG_0373.jpg

This dress was my first smocking project. DD who is now 9 wore this dress when she was 4, 5 & 6. She wishes it would still fit! DD2 will hopefully wear it this Easter. Notice the sneakers! This is at the Easter Egg hunt at the Naval Academy and it is a run for your life event to get as many eggs as possible. The mids put out 1000's of eggs, it is so much fun!

Trust me, from what I've seen on these boards, you all can do it if I can do it!
Wow! Nice job. I could never smock, I am always so impressed by the people who can!

Dear poohnpigletCA:
FIX HER!
Love,
auntie Fairygoodmother

Seriously, Karen, keep the magic alive. She won't always be this little, and she won't always believe. And she won't always have me to bibbidy-bobbidy-boo for her. And if you think little sister is going to lose her mind over not having anything Tink to wear, come over...I have fabric :)

or...1) go to the office supply store 2) purchase iron on printer paper 3) find Tinkerbell clip art 4) print onto the iron on paper 5) iron it onto a t-shirt

VOILA! Tinkerbell clothing. And I happen to know the office supply store is not too far from your home. :)
I was LOL at this!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Does anyone know where I can get Cupcake fabric for a reasonable price? As usual I can't find anything I like here.
I got this Alexander Henry fabric at Joann's. It is normally 8.99. Use a coupon!
sdcardcleanup688.jpg

Wow! Everything is fantastic!!

MaidMarion, your dd is so cute and you did a great job on all of those customs!!

I've had a productive weekend - 5 pairs of Easy Fits and one Feliz! I didn't find the Feilz too difficult, especially with the Trillium blog sew-along, but it definitely isn't one that you can just "whip up" real quick!

Here's Ella in her new Feliz -

th_heartfeliz1.jpg

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!!!!!
I saw this on facebook. I love it, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fabric!

Finally camera is charged!!! Here is the other dress!!!!

th_IMG_7712.jpg

Lori
Super cute! They all came out great!

I realized that I never posted these over here...no where near as nice as the creations on here lately but hey...I sewed for a change!

Jham taught me how to make pillowcase dresses/tops. Here are the directions she gave me:

Take the 44" width of the fabric (no matter what size dress/top), cut what length you want minus about 4" for the contrasting fabric on the bottom (if you are using contrasting fabric) and plus about 3 1/4" for the casing on the top. Cut the contrasting fabric 8 1/2" then fold it over wrong sides together and then stitch it onto the bottom of the main fabric and topstitch. Then sew the side seam. Fold over the casing (iron it down), stitch about 1" from the fold and then stitch another row for the elastic casing. (Use 3/4 inch non roll elastic) The straps are 4 pieces of ribbon 18" long. The buttons are purely decoration.

Nothing really new, but here is Princess Leia on a really pretty blue!

I still have alot not on the shelves, but this is a big chunk of everything.

Trying to remember, did I ever post a picture of the race car shirts I made?

Well, thanks for looking. Hopefully, I'll have some more new stuff to show you shortly.
I am always stunned by your mad crazy applique skilz. lol. I am drooling over your fabric.
So, next month the Kid's school is having an Art's and Crafts auction to go with our usual spaghetti supper. I finished a pair of pyjamas that I am going to donate. I used flannel that I had left over from a rag quilt that Tyler made for Liam and from a rag quilt I made for my SIL, so no out of pocket material expense.

Shield your eyes, DH says it is very bright and loud....

It is a size 5/6, and I don't have a model that size, so it is just on a hanger.

Tyler (DS7) finished up his rag quilt for the auction this weekend too. It is in the dryer right now, so I will have to post it later.
where did you get the fabric! I love it, and my boys would die for it!

Pics of Tyler and his new quilt

Lining up the pieces to decide what should go where.
What an awsome memory. I don't think my 7 yo Ds would go for sewing something.

Sorry that we can't webcast you in but we can take lots of pictures that we can post when we get home!!!
I am sooooo jealous! I wish I could be there with you guys!!

I am so excited for May. I whipped up 2.5 outfits already and I only made the reservations to go last week. My OCD is kicking in.

Love them all! I really like the studios applique!

I cased this from ebay (I saw it last year sometime and loved it). I just need to ruffle the yellow strips and attach to the pants. I want to wait until closer to the trip in case someone has a growth spurt.

I am going to make a double layer twirl skirt in the blue stars fabric to go with this but I wanted to share because I am so proud of myself for how nice this looks. (And I ran out of yellow thread so I still have to satin stitch the yellow parts.)

I love all of your outfits, just wondering if you could tell me where you got the fabric for your Epcot/world showcase dress? I want to make my niece an outfit for Epcot but haven't been able to find any appropriate fabric and would love to use something like that you used if you don't mind sharing.

Thanks so much!

kstgelais4, Kelly, right? I got the Pikachu flannel at Wal-mart at least 1 year ago. At the time they had 3 different Pokemon flannels and a couple of cottons. Can't tell you if Walmart would still have it, cause they closed our fabric section. Sorry.

I searched ebay for "flag fabric". Let me see if I can find it for you...

Not sure you really need 5 yards though:)

Morning aLL!
Lori I love everything!!!!! What dress pattern do you use? Is it the simply sweet?

Great job!
thanks and yep it is....

That fabric is gorgeous! Beautiful dress, I really love the old fashioned Pooh the best.
Anyway, have a great Monday everyone!

Thanks it is a sweet dress!

Those are beautiful...I especially love the Toy Story one! I have the same buzz light year fabric that I have had since last year.

Have a great day everyone!!
I had the fabric sitting around and just had to make something with it!

This is why I can't get any sewing done today. HK (Hunter's Kitten) loves to sit on anything I want to cut.

Cute kitty - she wants to sew too!!

Your crayon roll ups are perfect!
I love your organized fabric and look at all those shirts!

BRAG TIME!!!!!!

Katie placed 3rd in the school science fair and now she will compete in the district in one month! :cheer2: She is so excited and I am VERY proud of her.:cheer2:

Okay...brag over...back to your sewing...and back to my cleaning:crazy2:

I got some material this weekend (I have not taken a pattern yet) for a "Belle" Dress for Megan for our trip to DL in May. Belle is her favorite princess.

So here is what I am thinking, let me know if you think this will work or not. I am not looking to make it an exact replica of Belle, more of the illusion of Belle. The material I have is all cotton. I have a cotton yellow/gold with large Roses on it (all in Gold Tones) and then a solid yellow/gold that matches the roses. For the top, I was thinking of doing a simplysweet jumper top with ruffled elastic straps. Then I was thinking of attaching a twirl scallopini skirt instead of the regular skirt to it. I figured I could gather around the waist instead of putting in the casing for the elastic. I was thinking I could finish off the whole thing with a sash around the waist. I was thinking I would do the straps, sash and the underlayer of the skirt in the solid gold and the bodice and top layer of the skirt in the rose patterned gold material. I was thinking of doing a single red rose applique on the bodice.

Okay, since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is what I am thinking of. Forgive my lack of artistic talent.

Is it sad that I started this post at 10am this morning. It is now 4:10pm and I am finally getting around to posting it. I've been in meetings since 10am today. And I wonder why I never get any work done.

Finally camera is charged!!! Here is the other dress!!!!

Lori

I love this fabric. I keep looking at it in Joannes and I never imagined anything as awesome as this!

I love these. Someday I'll get motivated enough to make holiday outfits. To bad Kirsta has to wear a uniform to school. That wrecks everything.

Pics of Tyler and his new quilt

Sewing on my machine. I drew the lines in chalk, so that he had a better chance of keeping them straight.

This is totally the best!!

LOVE the Leigh stuff! the roll ups are cute too

That fabric is gorgeous! Beautiful dress, I really love the old fashioned Pooh the best.

Thank you for reposting Jeanne's directions, I have never made one and am always trying to remember how she said to do it. Maybe I will be smart and bookmark it this time. I love the valentines one; it's adorable. Gosh she has a pretty smile!

Love your easter egg outfits! And your minnie one is soooo cute!

Wow, you have real talent Jessica, but I guess we all knew that. I am so jealous of your appliquing skillz! No, I don't remember any race car shirts, please post them. You have a lot of t-shirts!

This is my second gymbo outfit. We bought the shirts and then went to JoAnns for look for matching fabric. Of course, the colors are a bit weird so I couldn't find any patterned fabric that matched the blue or peachy pink. I was kind of bummed that the pants were going to be so plain but then I found this fat quarter of peachy pink that never matched anything so it's been sitting in my closet for over a year. It went with the shirt perfectly! Megan wanted a close-up of the butterfly to show everyone I did it on her Hello Kitty machine. It has a setting for nice tiny, zig zag stitches! Anyway, I think it turned out very well!

IMG_1087.jpg

IMG_1085.jpg

Oh, two more things. I wanted to show the back to show off her hair thing. They charge an arm and a leg for hair accessories when it's really just a bunch of ribbon tied around a hair elastic! I think even I could make that! :lmao: Second, I know I need to get her some spring shoes, the brown and pink sketchers don't really go, do they?

Anyway, have a great Monday everyone!
So cute!
So, next month the Kid's school is having an Art's and Crafts auction to go with our usual spaghetti supper. I finished a pair of pyjamas that I am going to donate. What a prefect little boy outfit!

Definately, go to Mousesavers.com. That is always my first stop when we start planning a WDW trip. Have a great time!

Okay, another question. DD9 wants a white peasant shirt but I'm overwhelmed with all the variations in CarlaC's pattern. For those of you that have made it... what style would be most appropriate for a 9 year old? She'll want to wear it with skirts and jeans. Plus, I could see her wearing a ribbon or sash around her waist so I'm thinking it should be elongated. Not sure though.

Regarding my earlier question about the patchwork twirl skirt... I did a little measuring and the fat quarter is not long enough for the ruffle layer. Has anyone modified it to make it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
ANY! I have made so many for Nik! Long sleeved, short sleeved, Dress, Pj's , night gown you name it I have made it for Nik and she loves them all!

Pics of Tyler and his new quilt

Lining up the pieces to decide what should go where.

Pinning them together. We had to have a talk about pins on the rug. He would be the first to yell at me if he stepped on one.

Sewing on my machine. I drew the lines in chalk, so that he had a better chance of keeping them straight.

Finished product.

Close up of the fray detail.
