I am so excited for May. I whipped up 2.5 outfits already and I only made the reservations to go last week. My OCD is kicking in.

I cased this from ebay (I saw it last year sometime and loved it). I just need to ruffle the yellow strips and attach to the pants. I want to wait until closer to the trip in case someone has a growth spurt.

I am going to make a double layer twirl skirt in the blue stars fabric to go with this but I wanted to share because I am so proud of myself for how nice this looks. (And I ran out of yellow thread so I still have to satin stitch the yellow parts.)

Here was my inspiration:

These are really cute! I love them.
Hi Guys,

i made the simply sweet in a 3 for her....im wondering if it looks big...she is just starting to grow out of 2T in alot of things....hmmmmmmmm',,,,,this was my first try at doing the rick rack poking out like that - any tips on doing that? mine wasnt exactly even and i ripped it out 2x and then just left it as is on the 3rd try....
I have this fabric. I love the way this turned out. Really cute with the ball fringe. It looks like little snowballs.
I finally got up the nerve to cut my fabric. It was so hard to decide what to do. I wanted dots and I wanted it bright but I didn't want too bright.

So here is what I finally had when I started.
SDC10539.jpg

I started cutting and Madilynn was sure to tell me just how it needed to be done :thumbsup2
SDC10540.jpg

Finally put her to bed and I started making progress. Sometimes she's just a little too much help ::yes::

Finally at midnight I had to put it aside. This morning I had more than enough help. Madilynn sat right next to me, making sure I wasn't mixing anything up.
Ryan was my pin removal boy. He loves that job :)

THANK YOU all for your help

And I was down in town today and decided to stop into the thrift store for a good find. Here's what I scored -- for $4.35:cool1:
SDC10548-1.jpg

I can't wait for Madilynn to get home from school to see it :) Now I'm off to clean the upstairs before the kids get home. Then I'll reward my self with Carla's Flouncy skirt pattern to make Madilynn's Valentines skirt
That turned out just perfect. I love how the green ruffle matches the shirt. So cute and it looks like she loves it. Great thrift store find too!

Great job on the race to Jaz:cheer2: and congratulations to Katie for the big Science fair win!:teacher:

BRAG TIME!!!!!!
Katie placed 3rd in the school science fair and now she will compete in the district in one month! :cheer2: She is so excited and I am VERY proud of her.:cheer2:
Okay...brag over...back to your sewing...and back to my cleaning:crazy2:
What was her project? Yeah for Katie doing a super job. Let us know how she does in State?

I think it will be beautiful. Here is my take on casual all-cotton Belle (this was Lauren's Halloween costume):
Belledress007.jpg
Wow, that is so beautiful and yet practical to wear. Brilliant.
My mom is going to chip in with dh and MIL to get me a serger for my bday.:cheer2: I still have a tight budget. What is a good, cheap serger? Something for $200 or less? Anyone buy the Juno one by Janome? It is on sale for $179 this weekend.
I have an old singer serger and just after 8 years can now thread it myself. It works great but I must change the needles often.

I have no idea on rick a rack sewing but I am happy you quit ripping out. I love the outfit. I have yet to determine how to make the right fit from a pattern. I know I wear a size 4 in patterns:rolleyes2 Glad your serger is working out well. I love mine.

Great job sewing. Thanks for being part of the Big give, the families really are wonderful to sew for. Great score on the frilly slip thing, sorry, only boys in this house. So I don't know the name.

Thanks For the Pirate Mickey Linette!!!

I was hoping that fringe would look like snowballs!!!

so, does anyone think we are going to get snow/ice here in philly??? I really want some snow!!!!

I think i have bill convinced to take us to niagara falls the last weekend in Feb - has anyone been there???

My initial thought would be to add lime green kona cotton and add a strip of ric rac (or 3 or 4!). Ribbon is a great idea too!
I had never used ric rac before. I love it though.

Well Nik is even more hooked on cheerleading! We went to my friends dd's competition yesterday and for at least 3 hours Nik was enthralled! What is even scarier is she LOVEd the flyers tricks! She is already the flyer or was the flyer last season but now se has seen all the fancy stuff ad well she wants to do it!!!!
How fun!! I miss Cheer. Meagan did club cheer until she aged out 3 yrs ago. I can't wait for this August when Madilynn is finally old enough to join :)

I have finally finished my kids chef's Hats....
chats.jpg
Very cute, aprons too
I finally got some dresses finished. I have 3 done, but then my camera battery died... grrr... so I have to wait for the other 2. Here is one finished. it is a OOAK and it has the cutest Eyelet material that is just perfect for easter or a trip to disney. We will not be keeping this one.

as for me, I have:sick: no voice, sore throat, no fever thank goodness! but my asthma is acting up and poor Megan still has a fever. She doesnt feel as hot, but still a little walking heater. First day of her life she wore her jammies all day. She asked me to get her dressed several times, but I knew DH wouldnt want me to.
I hope you feel better soon
Nothing really new, but here is Princess Leia on a really pretty blue!

103_9037.jpg

My organized fabric. Usually it is messy and all thrown around.

103_9019.jpg
More Amazing work. Hopefully someday........ I still haven't gotten up the courage to try my first applique. And I am way jealous of your stash and organization

, and then to Weight Watchers weigh-in! Wish me luck..I gotta get this weight off in 2009!!!!

Have a great day everyone!!
I do WW too :) I joined in April. It's my "Me" day. Hope you had a good weigh-in

Love this. How cool to take a picture and make it into something to wear :)
We're back from our whirlwind weekend of racing. Jaz took 5th place!
She's the one in blue.

WTG Jaz!!! And I can't think of a better reason to post-pone WDW
Looks cute

Very cute! What a lucky little girl
The skirt looks wonderful. Nice job.
Thank you :)

That skirt is too cute and I love that you have helpers. I have a little helper too. She likes to organize my scraps for me. Great score on the petti-skirt.
Thanks :) I thought Madilynn would love the petti-skirt. NOPE - she wanted a blue one :sad2:

I LOVE how this turned out! Quite perfect! And what a steal from the store! She'll be so excited.
Thank you. I'm really happy with it too.
She must be having a funk day because she :snooty: at a PINK Petti
I think it's cool you can see a pin and turn it into an applique
I'm learning Facebook too. It's fun, and very addicting

Wish Aisling hadn't seen those....her response "Good, I want them all". She thinks this thread is a catalogue!
:rotfl: Love that

This isn't your first SKIRT right because that is fantastic!!!
Thank You. Never thought something I would make would have the word fantastic by it

This is the second skirt I've made. I made a patchwork twirl skirt. I've sewn before but only with a pattern and my mom on stand-by.

I won't tell you how many of Teresa's bookmarks I looked at or how much time I spent looking at the Photobucket account just in case dh happens to look over here :)

After some wonderful help and great inspiration it's amazing what even I can sew ::yes::

That turned out just perfect. I love how the green ruffle matches the shirt. So cute and it looks like she loves it. Great thrift store find too!
Thank You. I got the green ruffle advice from the fantastic help on this board :)
Great job sewing.
Thank You

Now you've made me cry. I feel so very BLESSED to have been part of the Big Give. My kids eyes light up every time they get to wear one of their special things now.

It's the best, favorite and most memorable souveniers they have. They constantly tell others about the "special friends" that sewed for them.

Having a special needs child, it is often that others tease or ridicule. He is often left out. The gifts we received from the Big Give goes so much further than the amazing clothes, books, crayon rollups, etc that we received.

A forever footprint on our hearts

I've had a productive weekend - 5 pairs of Easy Fits and one Feliz! I didn't find the Feilz too difficult, especially with the Trillium blog sew-along, but it definitely isn't one that you can just "whip up" real quick!

Here's Ella in her new Feliz -

Lost this in my ealier multi-quote.

Your daughter is adorable. And I love that dress. Love the fabric, the ruffles, everything.

That Minnie applique is popular right now!! I just finished a set using the same image. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

.

1. We will be driving from Maryland to Orlando. I need suggestions for car activities. Everyone is so creative I would love to hear lots of ideas. The girls will be 2 1/2 and 5. It is about a 14/15 drive without traffic or stopping.

2. There is a new that will go into effect 2/10/09. Basically it is making it illegal for anyone to sell items intended for children 12 and under without expensive lead testing first. There are very strict rules, fines etc . . . Many many many mother owned and woman owned small business are in jeopardy due to these laws. There are many wonderful posters on this thread that will be greatly affected by these laws. Many designers that started making clothes for fun/hobby and now have turned their talent into family needed income. Anyway, there is group of ladies trying to take a stand. Here is a little info on the group.

http://www.boutiquecafe.com/home/tag/cpsia/

Thought everyone should know. I am really disappointed because I know of so many great designers that will be affected by this. Not only have they made cute stuff for my kids but . . . they are my friends.

We drive from MD to WDW each year and my best advice is drive at night. Makes life much easier with the little ones. We put the kids in their PJ's and leave around 8pm. DH makes sure he takes a good afternoon/evening nap while I finish packing the car. We head out, I sleep until he needs me to drive. I usually do the 2-7am shift while he sleeps. We arrive in WDW, check in and one of us takes the kids right to the pool while the other sleeps. After lunch, we all nap/rest and then are ready to go for the evening. Its not easy on DH and I but a lot easier than dealing with the kids stuck in their car seats allllllllllllllllllllll dayyyyyyyyyy (especially for a 2 year old who can't read books or play DS games, - even she can't watch 14 hours of movies!)

Lots of really wonderful stuff posted!

Just wanted to say:
I'm going to Disney tomorrow!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Have a great time!!! :cool1:

I'm being lazy and not minimizing the pictures! Love the Vidas! They are both wonderful! Absolutely fantastic - I love that dress pattern. The Minnie and Daisy appliques are great too!

Can't wait to see the Minnie tomorrow!

Unless you have kids who refuse to sleep in a car!! LOL! Both of my kids don't sleep in cars. We've spent full days in an amusement park (with the day before spent playing at the pool and up late swimming) to leave the park at closing thinking the kids will sleep on the 4 hour drive home. We've gone the past 2 years and no one has fallen asleep yet! Maybe a much loooonger car ride would be different.

I finished the Minnie Set...and wanted to share.

And this one is the next one...Can you believe I found these Jeans for $4.99 @ Gymboree?!?!! Wow!!

Sad news to share...
My grammies closest sister past away today. She would have been 89 next month. She has been in a nursing home for many years and had been failing these last few days. I am glad my grammy got to go spend time with her yesterday.

They have asked me, my sister and another female cousin to be among the pallbearers. She is going to be buried near her husbands. It is a 250 mile trek up north for the funeral. Dh wants to go as a family. So we will have several hours in the car on thursday evening and then again on friday. But I really couldn't say no. All three of us have rearranged everything so we could be there for our cousin (who is a few weeks younger then my sister) as she goes through this mourning time.

Reality is hitting that my grammy will not be here forever. She is in great health so I am hoping to have her around for many years to come!

I was planning to work on the bowling shirt but I just can't get into it. I feel drained.

Thanks for listening.
