Those turned out great!

Wow..that is so pretty!!

Those are beautiful...I especially love the Toy Story one! I have the same buzz light year fabric that I have had since last year.

That's..WOW..gorgeous!! Love it!

I wish I have your applique skills! I am going to attempt some more applique on t-shirts for our next trip. Love the Nemo crayon rolls, and love how organized your fabric stash is! Mine is all over the place.

Ok..off to take ds to school, and then to Weight Watchers weigh-in! Wish me luck..I gotta get this weight off in 2009!!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

OK...so we are going to WDW!!!! For the 1st time ever in November (During Thanksgiving Week). Some family/friends have a time share and booked 2 suites for 10 of us (1-2 bedroom & 1-1 bedroom). We are so excited.

We live in Cali, so we have no clue about any of this WDW, stuff!! Just Disneyland!!

Any tips? Suggestions. We are going for 7 days. Only $500 for a family of four to stay at the Bonnet Creek for 7 days...wow...pretty good right?

But the flight & park tickets are going to kill us :) LOL!!

What do you suggest we must do/see and what can we afford to miss?? We are mid 30's and our kids are 14 years & 5 years (will be).

I have heard of this book written by a old Disney Castmember that tells of all the ways to save $$ while booking your vacation...have you heard of it? Is it worth it?

I have 8 months to plan, and 3 kids Custom Outfits to make!! Yay!!!:cheer2:

Char

If the book is an e-book, from what I have heard on the boards, don't waste your money. You can learn just as much for free on the Dis and Mousesavers.

So, next month the Kid's school is having an Art's and Crafts auction to go with our usual spaghetti supper. I finished a pair of pyjamas that I am going to donate. I used flannel that I had left over from a rag quilt that Tyler made for Liam and from a rag quilt I made for my SIL, so no out of pocket material expense. :thumbsup2

Shield your eyes, DH says it is very bright and loud....

It is a size 5/6, and I don't have a model that size, so it is just on a hanger.

Tyler (DS7) finished up his rag quilt for the auction this weekend too. It is in the dryer right now, so I will have to post it later.

That's cute!!!

I know you are in Canada, but I was thinking about the "Mom Sales" (craft show, big garage sale type things!) that the schools have quite frequently around here. Does anyone know how the new law (the one about testing all children's items for lead) will affect those kinds of events?

OK..Here are a couple things I have been working on. This is my first Minnie Head w/ bow!! I am going to be doing a ton of these...:) Love them!!!

I will have modeled pic's soon!!

Definately, go to Mousesavers.com. That is always my first stop when we start planning a WDW trip. Have a great time!

Okay, another question. DD9 wants a white peasant shirt but I'm overwhelmed with all the variations in CarlaC's pattern. For those of you that have made it... what style would be most appropriate for a 9 year old? She'll want to wear it with skirts and jeans. Plus, I could see her wearing a ribbon or sash around her waist so I'm thinking it should be elongated. Not sure though.

Regarding my earlier question about the patchwork twirl skirt... I did a little measuring and the fat quarter is not long enough for the ruffle layer. Has anyone modified it to make it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the elongated one is what you'll want for that. I was so glad Carla updted the pattern to include that option!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thank you for posting this. She has some cute bows, I may be placing an order before our trip.

I thought her bows were really adorable too!! And a good price too! I also know that she is doing this to be able to stay at home with her 3 kiddos!!! She is also going to start making doggie things!!! Woo Hoo for my Zoey!!!!

WOW your 7 year old is making a rag quilt!!! that is soooo cool!!! I really want to try one, but havent yet -

Question - does it have to be cotton or flannel to fray? I have some material i got on ebay that is stiffer - feels more like a drapery kind of material??? would it fray?????

Sometimes when I do the ruffle I sew many different pieces of material together to make the ruffle. I even use differnt patterns. If you can see the second ruffle on this dress I used different patterns that I used elsewhere in the dress for the ruffle.

I jsut found a sewing store down the street from my house that may have someused sergers for sale...so I may have to take a trip there today! Mom said I should look at a few..I wonder what she is thinking. My b-day is in less than three weeks. Oh, I would love a serger for my bday! then I wouldn't have to run to her house everytime I sew something just so I can serge it!

Nice blue. I really like it on the white though.

How cool that you reconnected with someone who now shares the same interests.

Also, I love the organized shelfs. Wish mine looked like that.

That fabric is gorgeous! Beautiful dress, I really love the old fashioned Pooh the best.

This is my second gymbo outfit. We bought the shirts and then went to JoAnns for look for matching fabric. Of course, the colors are a bit weird so I couldn't find any patterned fabric that matched the blue or peachy pink. I was kind of bummed that the pants were going to be so plain but then I found this fat quarter of peachy pink that never matched anything so it's been sitting in my closet for over a year. It went with the shirt perfectly! Megan wanted a close-up of the butterfly to show everyone I did it on her Hello Kitty machine. It has a setting for nice tiny, zig zag stitches! Anyway, I think it turned out very well!

Anyway, have a great Monday everyone!

Very cute outfit. I love how you guys take something you bought and make something to match.

I'm forcing myself into lurker mode to get stuff done (it's working) but I had to jump in and say I love it!  So does Jayden! :rolleyes1

Don't you wish we could arrange/organize our own smilies on the first page so we wouldn't have to go looking for our favorites? :thumbsup2

This will actually be his third Rag quilt. He made one for himself and one for his brother last year. We keep it simple though. The squares are 20" x 20" and we just use 6 squares. Makes a nice lap quilt for a child. This way there is not so much work that he gets bored. Attention spans at this age are not very long.

I have only used flannel, but any material that would fray should be appropriate. We just like the soft cuddly feeling of the flannel, and we live in the north, and flannel is warm. Best way to see if it would fray would be to cut a small piece and put it in the wash.

Pics of Tyler and his new quilt

Lining up the pieces to decide what should go where.

Pinning them together. We had to have a talk about pins on the rug. He would be the first to yell at me if he stepped on one.

Sewing on my machine. I drew the lines in chalk, so that he had a better chance of keeping them straight.

Finished product.

Close up of the fray detail.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the DIS'er that suggested DING!!! Of course they don't have anything out as far as November,yet...but I am hopeful that come August or so...they may have something! Thanks again!

I know this is the Sewing Thread...sorry!! Just wanted to say thanks!

Have a great day! Gotta get to my day job, so I can sew some more!!

His colour choices, but I have to agree, I like it too.

Were they all flannel? Do you sandwich 3 layers together?

This is the material I was talking about - do you think it frays enough? now it isnt as soft as flannel, but could i use it on a top layer??????? Thoughts????

We used 3 layers of flannel, but the middle layer was cut smaller so that it was within the seam allowance because it did not match well. (it was leftover stuff in my stash). I think that stuff would be fine for one of the layers. Personally I would put flannel on the other side, or in the middle but edge to edge to get the effect that I like.

With the loose weave it may fray too much. You may want to zigzag about 1/2 in all the way around to prevent too much fraying. Also have you washed it with a healthy does of fabric softener? That may soften it up a bit. If your dryer has a "Fluff" setting that may help as well.
