I had to shorten the top of the easy fit pants to fit DGD4. I had the same problem, they were midway up on her belly and then the legs were too short. I took an inch off the top and added it to the lenght of the legs. It fits her so much better.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. The same thing happened to our cat. She was about 12 or so and was an outdoor cat. She just disappeared. Our neighbor found her a few weeks later in her favorite bush. Apparently she went to her favorite bush and layed down and died. It was so sad but I was happy she hadn't been hit by a car. I always dreaded coming home, afraid I would find her hit in the road. Good luck and hopefully she will show up.

Thanks, I'll do that the next time I make the pants for her. I'm with you about the cat, I hope we find him like you did. My imagination is running wild of all the terrible ends he might have faced. Not knowing is the worst part. Well, that and my poor DS7 who can't stop crying.

I'm attempting my first applique and the bobbin thread is pulling to the top. I've checked the Bernina site with no luck. Any suggestions?

Loosen your tension. I have a Viking and my setting should be between 2-4. I normally keep just shy of 4. Any higher and my bobbin thread will show. :)

Thanks for the help. I tried changing the tension but it still came through. I ended up matching the bobbin thread to the top with each thread change. Ugh! I cannot believe how bad my first attempt at appliqueing looks. Please tell me it gets better with practice!???? From a distance it looks cute but up close... pretty bad! The pieces were so small so I used a tiny zigzag and boy do they look crazy crooked. :scared: I'll post pics tomorrow. Need to go to bed!

When my machine does this, it usually means that there is lots of lint in my bobbin area. Maybe take it all apart and clean it really good?

Everything posted is just beautiful! I am always amazed at the outfits everyone makes! Hugs for those who need them, and LOTs of baby dust for those who are having a little one!!

Okay, back to lurking, I do read most days, but have been spending a lot of time helping with the grandgirls! No complaints there, I love to spend time with them!

Hello!

I made my first Disney creation tonight. It's not fabulous but it was easy to make. I'm not crazy about the pink cuff. It was a nice idea but it makes it a lot longer. It's not really messed up in the front as it appears, it's the way she's standing ;) It will work though. Now I hope it will be warm enough to wear it in two weeks :rotfl:

She was a little goofy tonight for the picture!

I
CARLA aka LouisMama
Now Carla, I have a question for you....the bodice has this beautiful lining, how come you dont have instructions for placing the skirt seam between the bodice layers so that the whole inside of the dress would have a finished look? Am I making sense? I think the inner lining piece might have to be a little longer than the others ?yes? no?
I also did top stitching around the entire top of the bodice, including the sides, which I think suits the top stitching you finish the bodice to the skirt with.
Fun pattern. I am not a quick sewer, so I think under normal circumstances I could do this in about half a day. I may cut out the pants today and complete tomorrow. Lots of distractions. I am NEVER in the house alone.

You can certainly do it that way if you want the inside to have more of a couture look. I would recommend hand stitching the lining into place rather than trying to catch it in the topstitching, though. You want the lining to stay perfectly flat. I don't include that finishing technique in the ebook because 1) it is already a huge eBook and 2) I personally find hand stitching tedious, and no one sees the inside of my kid's clothes anyway. I gear these patterns to busy moms, so I go with the technique that gives the best possible results in the least amount of time :) .

Yes, that is the way to go for a shorter crotch :thumbsup2 ! The easy fits are designed with the higher rise for comfort and so that they will fit a range of kiddos. But they are definitely easy to modify to have a shorter rise, as NaeNae said.

My old workhorse computer died yesterday :scared1: ! I've know it was coming, so I had everything backed up. I ended up reformatting the drive and installing the essentials, and it seems to be working much better. I actually have a "new" computer that I bought as a replacement 2 years ago, but I just love this one for some reason.

What? How come I didn't know about this? I was just there on Saturday stocking up on thread.

Very cute!

Okay, speaking of CarlaC... question about the Easy Fit Pants. Just made a set for DD9 and they are way droopy in the crotch. She can pull them up to her chest to get the crotch to fit. Has anyone shortened the top for a more correct fit? Even as I was cutting them out I thought the top of the pants looked loooong. Thanks for any insight!

We are having a bad weekend. My 16 year old cat (my first baby) is lost. He got out on Saturday. We've put up a ton of fliers and walked the neighborhood looking for him with no luck. He's siamese so if he was stuck somewhere I would hear him and he always comes when I call him. I just hate not knowing what has happened to him. :sad1:

Now isnt that funny, I have the opposite problem, I find from the crotch to her waist it is too short. You probably just need to go down a size. Her pattern pieces are in sizing groups of 3, so 1-3,4-6,7-8. So if you are using the 7-8-size large, drop down to the medium, since you can do whatever length you want- the only concern I see is if you want the wide leg part of the pattern.
I dont want a wide leg, so I am going to cut mine today in the 1-3 size, but add a little to the top in order to increase, you could try simply taking off a 1/2 or 1inch and see how that works...

Keep the bag as your only other choice for classic is a Louis! I love LV but no longer have a life to support such a thing. I did sell all mine but my wallet and coin purse. Even now I don't use them. Keep the bag and don't feel bad at all. It sounds like you have a great DH.
Yeah i decided to keep it. I would LOVE a LV! It is all George's fault that I have this handbag obsession! We where about 20 and he bought me a Fendi and that was it i was in LOVE! @ yrs ago George wanted to get me something I would never buy myself so he bought me a Burberry wallet:lovestruc :lovestruc We both LOVE Burberry but can't afford it!

Ya'll inspired me to try sewing DDs some Disney outfits (although much simpler ones than most of you make!). Let me just say, I have not sewn anything with a pattern or with too many steps in about 25 years. Since everyone said Carla's patterns were easy to follow I figured that was a good place to start. I made the reversible a-line for DD3--Mickey heads on 1 side, Tigger on the other (I didn't make DD1's dress):
th_DSC04341.jpg
th_DSC04350.jpg

I didn't attempt a button-hole, so the button is sewn on a snap. I couldn't find any Mickey buttons, so I'll have to keep looking. Next I need to figure out the ruffler I have & attempt some more dresses!
Great job!

I take 2 inches off the top for my kids and add 2 inches to the bottom and they aren't saggy bottom boys as I call them ! LOL

Sorry about your cat! I hope you find him!
Ok here are some pictures that I have been meaning to post, you'd think that not working I would have more time!
Anyway first up is the last Big Give outfits I did ( They are for Noah and his brother Joshua)

I think it is Hilarious and very coincendental that so many also went bowling with the family on V-day! We also went bowling. It was the kids first time and we all had fun. Ds did sit out a few frames as he pinched a finger in the balls. But has been asking when we are going again so he isn't scarred for life! Here's a great shot for you all.

And here's from today, we went to the childrens museum as the clifford exhibit just opened and the kids have been pestering me to go!

As you can see we had a great day! :goodvibes
I've catching up a little at a time. And I wanted to say CONGRATS on the baby news!!! We just found out one our friends is pregnant too. She is due the end of august!
The disney Meet looked like so much fun, I'm bummed I couldn't be there too! And I bet the rest of the vacations were just as fun! I'm adding those TR's to my subscription list!!
And of course everyones newest creations are great!!
The big give stuff is adorable!
It is funny that so many of us went bowling! George wants to go again next weekend. Problem is we have a DVC event so maybe not.
The museum looks like fun! We LOVE museums! We actually just rejoined the Museum of Science and Industry here in Chicago again last night!

I am still in tooth agony, I am now in my third antibiotic, as the dentist refuses to do anything until infection clears more, today I got up to a fever and a swollen face:confused3 I am about to do like Tom Hanks in Cast Away and do the job myself:scared1: :scared1:

That is a good way to do it :thumbsup2 ! Kids run in so many shapes and sizes, and a lot just depends on how they like to wear their pants. In Louie's case, he likes them really high up on the waist. I'm going to have to get the kid some thick rimmed glasses and a pocket protector, I'm afraid! :rotfl:

LOL My DH wears his pants too high and it drives me crazy! Then you have Kyle who wears them so low you have to be careful they don't fall off and show the world! LOL

When I make pj pants i usually make them bigger then I would if I am making pants to wear outside.

Here is a dress I made for my niece with a reversible head band.

I have shorts cut out of the blue for my nephew and now I need to find a white shirt to match and I may applique a patch of the pooh material on it.

Do you think the bucket hat of these 2 materials is too girlie for a 2 yr old boy???

Makes perfect sense! AND, the good news? I just ordered an ATG gun this afternoon! Now I just have to wait for it to come in. I can't wait to see how these autograph books come out. I went and bought a Bind It All today, too. I'm gonna use that to put it all together. I'm almost giddy!

I got the BIA for Christmas and still haven't used it yet. IF you use yours first (which I'm sure will happen) you need to let me know how your experience with it went.

You're gonna LOVE your ATG gun..... do you know where to buy refills for a screamin' deal???

Linnette,

I sure hope you start to feel better soon. You may not take an ice skate and knock out your tooth. Really, going to the dentist is better. Once the infrection is gone they will work on it. Sorry you are in such pain.

I love the shirt, halter and capri's. I wish they had capri and halter in a women's 4. It is a perfect outfit for Disney!

Stay in touch!

I love this dress, it is so cute. A hat for a boy would be great also. It is just too pretty.

Here are my DD's outfits. Her fav is the AK outfit and the Monsters Inc. I was pretty proud of myself for getting all of these outfits and shirts done in 2 weeks time!

Up first a Tink outfit(my first Simply Sweet and I love this pattern now!) probably for the same day the boys wear Nemo, Epcot(totally CASED Snubie's, Thanks!) and a MK shirt.

IMG_3224.jpg

I love this mickey shirt made from a valance that I got from goodwill for 50 cents! That shirt is for MK and then her AK dress and a Minnie shirt.

I tried out my BIA yesterday. I wanted to do a test run before I did the real thing. It is going to be AWESOME! It took a few times for me to be able to figure out how to line things up after I cut the first page. But I figured it out, so it'll be great!

I bought my ATG from www.thetapedepot.com. I bought a 12 pack of tape refills at the same time. I've been watching the cricut board, and it looks like that site is highly recommended. Did I order from the right place? NOW, if only I can figure out where to buy patterned paper in bulk, I'll be good! I used to buy from CTMH, but they've discontinued their background and texture paper in the color packs like they used to carry. I want a pack of paper that has different patterns, but all in the exact same color. I'm not having much luck!
