Just returned from a 9 day stay at WL. We LOVED it and had a wonderful time! My family reserved a courtyard room and requested a room off the lobby on the 4th or 5th floor (bear face room). When reserving we also requested an adjoining room with my parents who would be arriving later in the week for a 3 night stay, they reserved a standard view room. We were given exactly what we requested room 5071, but to our SUPRISE my parents were given a connecting to ours and upgraded to a courtyard view, 5073!! They actually had a better view than we did because of a tree blocking part of our view of bay lake. So after my parents arrived the 4 of us enjoyed the view off their balcony, and watched the electric water pagent nightly, after we put the kids to bed in our room! :cool1:

Welcome back! How nice for the room assigner to give your parents a connecting room - and one with a great view too! Did they by chance have a king bed, handicap accessible room? I try to keep a list of these rooms as it comes in handy when working with special needs sometimes - thanks so much!:flower3:

Sounds like you had a wonderful visit! :goodvibes

5073, has a king bed, but was not handicap accessible. 5071 was 2 queen beds. We certainly will choose WL again! We enjoyed the wonderful dining at WL and easy boat access to MK and also to the other dining options at the deluxe resorts on the monorail! Cant wait to return!:goodvibes

Glad you had a great time and congrats on your parent's upgrade :). We had a courtyard view on one of our WL stays and we loved it. We had a first floor room overlooking the pool and it was wonderful walking out the patio door right to the pool. We love the WL for the homey feel it has, not to mention the beautiful atmosphere :cloud9:.

Those are two of the many things we love about the WL ::yes::.

Awesome!!! Glad to hear that you had a great trip.

Guess I'm going to have to do more research on how to post a photo here because control copy shift insert didn't work. :) I have a lot to learn.

You have to have an IMG (image) code. To get one, the photo has to be uploaded to a photo sharing site, such as PhotoBucket. You can create a free account, upload your photos, edit them if you like, and a IMG code will be created. Simply copy and paste the IMG code into your post. It sounds complicated, but once you do it a few times, it's very easy. PM me if you need more help. BTW, there is a minimum number of posts you need to post photos - I think it's at least 10?

I am going to be staying at WL for the first time May 28-June 5 with my DNiece6. We are getting more excited as we get closer. It will be my first time in a deluxe as my other stays have been either values- ASSp, ASMo, Pop, or mods CBR (several times) and POR.

I am planning on our first day being a resort day as we will have to be at our airport between 4 & 5 AM. Any suggestions would be welcome! I have booked a standard room so I assume no bunkbeds, DN was hoping...

One question, I use a CPAP machine and am wondering if they sell distilled water in the gift shop. I thought about ordering from Garden grocer but don't think I'd have enough to have the $40 or $45 minimum order for just the 2 of us. Also by the time they add on the delivery fee, gas surcharge and tip I'd be looking at $70. We have dining so we won't need a lot of extras.

What was that CM thinking? Bunk bed rooms don't have balconies? Not true. But, you can't book a bunk bed in a Standard Room - only Woods and Courtyard.
If you do book a Std. View, request a high floor (5 or 6) and you'll be able to see some of Wishes. If you book a Woods View and request a high floor and you don't want a standing-only balcony, put that in your request. Some of the 6th floo:cool1:r rooms have balconies with a solid railing that you have to stand to see over. All of the 7th floor CL rooms are like this
Have a great trip

Thank you so much. We're all set now.

I called and switched to a courtyard room with bunks!

Thanks WDWKOOK, you are the Wilderness Lidge Zen Master!

We'll check out your suggestions as we arrive....tonight!

We will be there May 29-June 7 with our six year old grandson! We may see you! As far as the distilled water try amazon or staples. That is where we order water for our trips.

I've stayed at CBR and CSR, but this will be our first stay at WL - can't wait! In the past, I've either ordered groceries from Garden Grocer or gotten water from Costco. Is there any problem doing this at WL? As I recall, CSR - because it's a convention hotel - had a charge per package delivery (USPS, Costco, Staples, Amazon). Does WL have anything similar?

Your trip sounds like it will be so much fun with your DN! One thing I might suggest, if your DN really wants to sleep in a bunk bed, either book a Woods View Bunk Bed room which will guarantee you a bunk or keep your STD. room booking and call and add "bunk bed, please" to your request. The WL room assignor is often very kind and generous with upgrades and might just bump you up to a room with bunks. There is no guarantee, however, so it's always best to book the view/room type you really want so you're not disappointed. You can also ask when you check-in if you have a bunk bed and if you don't, you can ask if it's a possibility.

Your arrival/non-park day might be a great day to walk or bike over to FW and have DN take a pony ride and look at the animals. There are also free activities in the afternoon at the Cub's Den and at the pool. You could rent a Sea Raycer which is loads of fun and would give you and DN a great view of the other Deluxe resorts. There is a playground on the beach near the marina (I posted a photo yesterday of it and it's on the first page). You can also take the boat over to the CR and go to the arcade there or take the monorail to the Poly and GF and do a little resort exploring. I think you'll have plenty to do on your resort day:thumbsup2

I looked through my Mercantile photos on the first page, but didn't see distilled water. I can't recall if they have any, but maybe someone will recall. It might be cheaper for you to just take a cab over to a Hess Gas Station nearby to get some. If you can't find out how to get distilled water relatively cheaply, let me know and I will ask when I'm there in about a month.

Thank you so much. We're all set now.

Excellent! Now you will definitely have the bunk beds:goodvibes

WOW! You're there tonight?! How exciting! Have a great trip!

You're right that the convention resorts charge a fee when you pick-up your package. Since WL isn't a convention resort, there shouldn't be a fee, but I've never shipped to them. Hopefully, someone else can post their WL shipping experience for you.

Here is a link to the "shipping to resorts" sticky that might help you:

Hi - I use a CPAP as well (and will be at the WL in late August). I'll be watching this thread to learn if you found distilled water at WL!

Last time, we used the Garden Grocer to get distilled water and ended up with too much food (bought more than we needed to get to the order minimum). What I'm planning this time around is to send a USPS Large Priority Flat Rate box to WL with two smaller bottles of distilled water and a few other items. The large box costs around $15 to send and will fit the bottles (20 oz. water bottle size) plus I'll toss in some Crystal Lite drink packets, a few breakfast snacky items for DD, sunscreen, and whatever extras I can use to pad the box out. I think that will end up being the most economic, easiest way to get my CPAP water!

Anyone ever use an air mattress in one of the standard rooms? I travel with my mom and my son, and I really don't want to be sleeping with either of them.

We typically stay over in the Yacht/Beach Club area. Last minute decision to spend our 25th anniversary in Disney has lead us to Wilderness Lodge Club level. Is it similar to BC/YC? Anything I should know about the resort? We'll be staying there for 3 nights at the end of the month.

When do the decorations come down usually at WL? Our dates are changing a bit and now it looks like we might be there starting Jan 3 or 4 next year.
