Great thread this, loads of info. :thumbsup2

I check in on Sunday 30th September for 2 weeks, hopefully the refurb is finished.

A few more observations:

We did the resort 1 hour architectural tour our first morning. I highly recommend it. It has heightened our experience walking around the resort, noticing the fine details. We have no CL experience, but for those who do, the tour is conducted by Jack, a long time CL employee. Anybody know him? He did a great job.

It turns out our room is exactly 2 floors down from the much coveted 7060. We can't see the castle through the trees but we still had a great view of the fireworks last night. Quite a treat for standard view. Thanks for the room request tip kook of high room in the north wing.

Oh and yes the smoke house makes me hungry every time I step out on the balcony, even within an hour of having eaten.

Jack is one of the Lodge's as well as Disney's best cast members! He truly loves what he does and he does it very well. We have know him a very long time. :goodvibes

Love the smokehouse. If I remember, the tour you went you used to include a trip to the smokehouse. Too bad it doesn't anymore.

Glad you are having fun! Enjoy your time there!

That's not a stupid question at all. I'll just add to previous helpful responses that on the first page of this thread, at the end of the first post, I have an aerial map showing the location of the 25 Deluxe rooms and a full description and links to both pre-rehab photos from May and rehab photos from a few days ago.

One disadvantage to some is that Deluxe rooms are often not located on the club level floor. The exception is that BWI has 5 Deluxe rooms on the CL floor and 5 that are not. WL, YC and BC Deluxe rooms also come with CL access, but none are located on the CL floor. The CR and GF ('Lodge Tower' rooms) also have Deluxe rooms, but they do not come with CL access. The CR's Deluxe room is located in the Garden Wing. The AKL and Poly do not have any Deluxe rooms.

We were lucky enough to have a stay in one of the Deluxe rooms. It is nice to have that sitting area and the mini bar area. We had room 5123 which is two floors below the Presidential so the views are similar. And it was right around the corner from the elevator and a quick trip to the CL floor.

Was a very nice stay.

It's also called a Junior Suite - the deluxe hotels that have Deluxe rooms offer a larger room than standard, with Club Level benefits. From pics it looks like WL Deluxe rooms are 2 separate rooms (separated by French doors) - the Deluxe rooms at BWI, CR (might be called something else) & BC are just one larger room, but not separate. I'd sooooooo love to stay in one at WL!!!

I stayed in WL Deluxe room last week. There is a master bedroom with 2 queen beds and a sitting room that has a couch with a pull out bed. The rooms are separated by French doors. If you look on page 213 of this thread you could see some pictures that I posted. To the right of the wet bar are the French doors. The pull out couch is across from the chairs in the sitting room. I stayed in a deluxe room at BWI in the past and those are just one big room with a separate sitting area that has a pull out couch bed.

Thanks everyone!! This explains it PERFECTLY!!! I appreciate the help so much!!! :goodvibes (the deluxe room sounds LOVELY!!!)

Just wanted to pass some info along that I just found out from Andrew. The Deluxe rooms facing the pool as of yet have not been rehabbed. The only deluxe rooms that have been rehabbed look out over the dock and marina.

Flag family is still not taking place because of the roof, they are not sure when this will start again.

I just did online check in, so 7 days and we are on our way..so EXCITED

Great info to have, thanks! We stayed in a BC Deluxe room in March & it was fabulous, but very far from the CL lounge. Not really an issue for us, but might be for some. Looking forward to someday staying in a WL Deluxe room, having it be 2 separate rooms is a very nice perk.

I loved the smokehouse tour! My DH still remarks on how much he loved sampling free ribs in the morning at the smokehouse and then plank salmon at AP - ah, those were the days.

Thank you for posting the Flag Family information. Yeah for OCI:thumbsup2

You're welcome, Tara. I hope you get to book a Deluxe room at WL someday soon:)

Just back (so sad to leave) from a week at WL. We had upgraded ourselves during the decision making from standard to woods view, found ourselves at check-in in courtyard (pool) view rooms 3rd floor - my brother asked if they were refurbed rooms, and like magic, we were switched to newly refurbed 5th floor rooms still with the courtyard (pool) view!!! Yeah!:cheer2:

Our stay at WL was just great...CMs very helpful and generous, thematically warm and cozy, and great short boat ride to MK, CR (for California Grill/fireworks first nite dinner and then Chef Mickey dinner).

Mousekeeping greeted us with the standard Mickey Mouse towel figure on arrival, and mid-week we found an elephant (Dumbo?) on one of the beds....kids loved it and didn't take it apart. Mousekeeping was fantastic dealing with our late departures from our room every day (so much for my thought that we might make it to see RD..no RDs for us, not even close).

Just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to this board with questions and information....you helped make our vacation awesome!!

Oh...information for you as to the refurb progress...workers installed the new carpeting in the first floor area of the elevator bank near Roaring Fork and took down the construction wall in the same area on 4th of July.

The only downside to our stay was that because it was my kiddies first-time (nephew had been previously), we focused on all the park offerings and didn't have enough time to explore the activites at WL.

Sounds like you all had a great time!

Mousekeeping and all the CMs at WL have always been wonderful. We are late risers/room leavers and have never had a problem with mousekeeping. I think they figure out pretty quick who leaves early and who leaves late and have a cheat sheet. :)

I kind of liked having the walls up at the elevators by RF. It made for less traffic. I can't wait to see it however with the new rug there. I bet it looks more open and airy!

Thank you for posting your mini TR, Rosie. How lucky to not only be upgraded to CV, but to also get a rehabbed room. Did you book a BB or have you made any plans to return?

Staying in the VWL in Oct. are they being refurbished to?
Only WL rooms are being rehabbed. DVC is on a completely different rehab schedule and villas are rarely rehabbed.

Yes, we did have a great time!! We were so exhausted by the 5th day (July 3rd), my DS was asking if we could just stay at our 'apartment' (his term for hotel room) for the day.

It was quite a difference when the walls were removed...I was totally taken back when I exited the elevator on the 1st floor that day.

Even luckier to get two rehabbed rooms!! Haven't booked a return yet but my brother is seriously looking at DVC. I'd really like to come back 'home' in the next year, but no later than two years.

We'll be back at the WL at the end of August. (YIPEE!)
What order are they renovating the rooms in?
I hope to stay in one. Do you think I could request that at the desk at check-in?

:welcome: to the DIS and the WL/VWL thread, Audrey!

Almost all of the North Wing rooms have been rehabbed. They are currently working on the top floor (7th - club level) of the South Wing. All the rooms should be completed by the end of September.

If you want to stay in a rehabbed room make sure that you include your request in your reservation. Just call the WDTC/CRO and have them add, "Rehabbed room, please" to your reservation. The room assignor will assign your room about 3 days prior to arrival and will see your request. At check-in, ask if you've been assigned a rehabbed room. If you are checking-in in the end of August, you will most likely be assigned a rehabbed room:)

Guessing still no July activities/movies calendar? :confused3 I am assuming not, since I know that kook would have it out the instant it was available. :thumbsup2

Oh well! Guess I'll find out in 8 days!!!!:dance3:

Still no July calendar on The Mouse for Less site. It might not be very different than June's though, (which I have posted on the first page under "Activities").

Will the July movie schedule hold you over?

Wilderness Lodge Beach Movie Schedule ~ 9:00PM

Sundays - Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Mondays - Monsters, Inc.
Tuesdays - A Goofy Movie
Wednesdays - Lady & the Tramp
Thursdays - Bolt
Fridays - Tarzan
Saturdays - Meet the Robinsons

From: Build a Better Mouse Trip

As previously mentioned the carpet was down a couple of days ago next to the RF elevators. However, the under construction signs remained up blocking access to 1st floor hallway of rooms near same elevator. Those signs were down this morning and I saw no signs of crews.
