Unfortunately, It's still mostly blocked off and a bit of an eye sore.

Agree. We checked into a studio in the villas yesterday. We walked out to the pool somewhere between 12 and 1230 and the pool and pool bar had just opened. Yay! It would be much prettier out there if the walls in front of the beach and the construction equipment there were gone. Hopefully soon? Also the scaffolding is pretty unattractive. Enough with the complaints...we love our room and the villas lobby, and of course the main lobby at the lodge is magnificent. It is so, so pretty and festive.

Low crowds at Epcot yesterday. Going to MK today and a late dinner at Narcoossee's. Think we're going to need to check out either Trout Pass or Territory Lounge at some point today. :drinking1

Any word on how much longer for the hot tubs and the beach? We check in on Saturday. I think it's a long shot it'll be finished by then. To be honest, I'm so disappointed. This is my anniversary trip, and probably my only opportunity to stay at WL. I really wish I would have switched hotels.

I am betting the hot tubs will open very soon, since they really didnt do much to them. The splash pad may be the last thing to open. Looks like a fair bit of work still needed to get that going.

Worst case scenario, if the hot tubs are still closed for your visit , there is a hot tub over at the villas side, and you would prob be granted access to the Contemp. or Ft Wilderness hot tubs if you asked .

Checking in Friday night!!!:cool1: So excited for our first MVMCP. Can't wait to see the new pool. Only there for the weekend so probably no swimming.

I asked both a lifeguard and some construction workers. No definite answers to any of my questions. I'm guessing that they have instructions not to give out completion dates to guests in case work runs over.

Does anyone know if there's a list of WL rooms with enclosed balconies? I want to make my room-location request soon (we're staying in a Woods View room) and we like the North Wing.

I seem to recall we stayed in Room 5001 a couple of years ago and that it was at the end of the hall, overlooking Bay Lake, but I just saw a post that said Room 5001 had an enclosed balcony. Yes? There's no way I would've stayed in a room with an enclosed balcony, since we spend a lot of balcony-sitting time during our vacation and we like to have the view, so perhaps I'm not correctly remembering the room number. I'd like to mention the number, just as a guideline to the part of the wing we'd prefer.

Thanks for any help you can give me! I've been searching around like crazy, but I don't have all day to do it . . . unfortunately! :lmao:

Thanks for asking! Hopefully it will all be completed soon. :)

All of the 7th floor (CL) rooms have solid balcony railings and some of the 6th floor rooms. As far as 5001 in the North Wing, that is nestled in between another Woods View room and a Deluxe room and they directly front Bay Lake. Here is a photo of the balconies:

Here is a better view of the balconies of those rooms, although this is the South Wing. If you want a less obstructed view, you'll want the South Wing and if you don't want a solid railing, you'll want to be below the 5th floor if you're at the end of the wing or below the 6th floor is you're anywhere else.

Has anyone seen any activity with the scaffolding? It's been up for awhile, is anyone using it?

LOL yes, as a matter of fact we were having afternoon snacks at the OF lounge and there was a man standing on it in the big window! At first it frightening ...and then we realized it was a worker!!! Not sure what he was doing, but someone was out there!!!

E~L~E~V~E~N days! Six months of waiting will be over in 11 days!

I know we will be there in exactly 14 days from today!! We absolutely can't wait. Our 1st WL stay and deluxe resort in over 14 years. I am starting to pack little by little so as to not forget anything. :yay:

Great! See if you can tell what the scaffolding is for! Are they painting?

We changed resorts from AKL to WL for a one night stay in a Woods View Room - we are checking in on Dec 4! This is a place my hubby and I have been wanting to check out! It looks so lovely from the pictures!

I stayed at the Poly (TPV) last year when the construction started, and it was a mess - lots of walls, blocked passages and stressed staff... We had a lovely view on the beach of a wall, a hole and lots of fences...and this was our theme park view. (we could see the castle - just don't look down at the big pit in the sand!)

I see lots of walls and such in pictures - I was under the impression, based on the Disney site saying the pool would be closed till the end of Nov that the construction and walls would be gone...Are they everywhere? Are they blocking access still? I read that the pool is open (YAY!) but are there still lots of construction going on?

It's too late to change anything now, but I just want to know what to expect.

I am really excited to see the lovely holiday decorations!! That is what this little mini trip is all about!

There are still a few construction walls up (full size) ... Mostly behind the Trout Bar and along the beach and the short construction walls around the splash pad area by the main pool. The only acces that is blocked right now are those areas and the hot tubs.

Wanted to upgrade to CL, but no rooms available. However, I was able to snag a studio at VWL from Jan 19-27 for our Disneymoon...it ended up being only $9 more a night than a woods view at WL :) I think we will just order some food/beverages in from garden grocer... Excited...fast passes and dining booked...only 47 days to go!:cool1:

Wow what a great deal! 47 days, not long now. I hope you have any amazing Disneymoon. WL is definitely a great choice.

We are here at the lodge now and grateful for every moment. The only thing that makes me not enjoy the trip... is thinking that it's ending soon. We spent time at the pool and there is a lot of construction going on. The workers are really nice. One cm mentioned the splash pad would be opening 2 weeks from November 27. He wasn't certain, but that's what he said. I guess it's all speculation. I really wish it was open already. It looks really fun for the kids. An enclosed slide that will end in very shallow water at the end of the slide.
I have a question about the $50 credit. I know the pools open now and I'm grateful, but tonight we are heading to the contemporary for their marshmallow roasting. It's an activity my children love. I feel like the beach being closed off is still something we weren't counting on. Any thoughts if this qualifies as worthy of a 50$ credit?
Not trying to be cheap. Even though it sounds like I am... Just would have more cash for Disney souvenirs.

The construction at the WL is very different than at the Poly. First of all, none of it is inside the lodge. Most of the large construction equipment and supplies are hidden behind the Trout Bar. Most of the tall walls are now down. There is some scaffolding, though, in front of the lobby and room windows that face Bay Lake directly. But overall, the resort is wonderful and you should still be able to enjoy it even if they haven't finished everything up by tomorrow.

When we were there, it was closed passageways and confusing signs - and no access to the beach - we went before there were any construction going on inside the lobby - just all around the Tahiti building, and it seemed any time we wanted to go somewhere, we ended up at a dead end of wooden walls.

It's only one night - We wanted to get a feel for the WL resort for our next big trip in 2018.

Thank you for your advice, everyone! Sounds like it will be okay :)
