I just asked. We just checked in 30 min ago. No compensation being offered now that the pool is open.

We are here at the lodge now and grateful for every moment. The only thing that makes me not enjoy the trip... is thinking that it's ending soon. We spent time at the pool and there is a lot of construction going on. The workers are really nice. One cm mentioned the splash pad would be opening 2 weeks from November 27. He wasn't certain, but that's what he said. I guess it's all speculation. I really wish it was open already. It looks really fun for the kids. An enclosed slide that will end in very shallow water at the end of the slide.
I have a question about the $50 credit. I know the pools open now and I'm grateful, but tonight we are heading to the contemporary for their marshmallow roasting. It's an activity my children love. I feel like the beach being closed off is still something we weren't counting on. Any thoughts if this qualifies as worthy of a 50$ credit?
Not trying to be cheap. Even though it sounds like I am... Just would have more cash for Disney souvenirs.

All of the 7th floor (CL) rooms have solid balcony railings and some of the 6th floor rooms. As far as 5001 in the North Wing, that is nestled in between another Woods View room and a Deluxe room and they directly front Bay Lake. Here is a photo of the balconies:




Here is a better view of the balconies of those rooms, although this is the South Wing. If you want a less obstructed view, you'll want the South Wing and if you don't want a solid railing, you'll want to be below the 5th floor if you're at the end of the wing or below the 6th floor is you're anywhere else.

I seem to recall that a couple of years ago we were originally assigned one of the rooms with the stone balconies that are so clearly shown in these photos, and we asked to be moved, since DH and I spend a fair amount of time sitting on the balcony and I couldn't see over (or through) the wall. They did move us, btw, to a room also facing Bay Lake, but with a railing not a solid wall.

These photos are terrific and just what I was after.

ETA: We must have been assigned Room 4001, perhaps? It looks like it has a solid stone (concrete?) balcony, if I'm counting up the floors properly, which I may not be. I see 3 roof lines in the photo of the North Wing. Is the level that's in the front-most area (i.e., the one where you can see all the balconies) the 5th or the 6th floor? (Duh.)

Took some of the construction as well. Splash pad still needs a lot more work. One hot tub was filled. Did not ask when they will open.

Hi all, does the wilderness lodge have actual cribs you can request? I know I could rent a crib from a 3rd party but was curious if the lodge had cribs. I know they have pack n plays...?

Thanks for the pool pics. Do you think that they lost space on the pool deck? I was hoping that they would gain space for more chairs but it doesn't look like that. What are your thoughts? We can't wait to get back to the lodge.

That's a lot more involved than what I had in my mind. I was thinking more like little water squirters in the ground. I wish they'd had this when my kids were younger.
