So we have accepted and embraced the pool closure. We have a chance for a 1 bedroom Villa. Currently booked for bunk bed courtyard. Is it worth the cost to change to Villa or stay the course and stay in the room we have?

Thanks in advance.

A one bedroom villa gives you a good amount of room to stretch out. It's nice having a living room, and the kitchen, washer & dryer make it well worth it to me. I don't cook meals on vacation, but it's convenient to keep breakfast and snacks, or something for sandwiches. We've stayed in a lot of one-bedroom villas with our two sons over the years at BCV & BWV.

Howdy! We're so excited to be lifting up our anchor from YC and heading over to WL and Bay Lake soon. Of course, I was up and at 'em before everyone, but they're making good time. I'll try to upload some photos soon and post details. It's going to be a great day of WL and 7DMT:hyper:

Hello!

We have stayed in a Villas 1 bedroom a couple times. We love it. You will have lots more room plus separate living spaces.

Plus you will have a full kitchen, fridge, etc.

And while I do love staying in the main Lodge building, the lobby and grounds of the villas are so very peaceful to come "home" to. We used to love just walking to our room listening to the music.

You are just steps from the main lobby of the Lodge too :goodvibes.

So glad to hear your trip is going well, KOOK! And excited to see some pictures! Could you provide an update on the stream construction, when you can?

Let us know what you think of the 7DMT! We are so excited to get our first rides on it in a few weeks.... We have FIVE FP+s schedule for it! LOL

Welcome Home!

with all this talk about the pool, i had a different question.

we were considering jumping from november to january for our trip to WL.

the pool will be done with construction, but is it swimmable weather at that time of year?

We have stayed in the villas at the BC and the villas are wonderful. I loved the extra space, the full kitchen and the washer dryer. Plus, the master bedroom has a king size bed and the bathtub has a whirlpool.

The beach at the WL has a pretty good view. You can see the high fireworks and hear the booms. They are visible from FW, too, but since the distance is greater the fireworks look smaller. I would just stay at WL or better yet, go to the CR's 4th floor observation deck. :)

_____________________

We've received a letter from Disney today, telling us about the pool enhancement during our upcoming visit. It was nice of them to mail a letter. It said we could use the pool at the CR or FW. and the letter said that the work was scheduled to run from early Sept to late November.

Good advice! I forgot about the free observation deck at Contemp. Hopefully the boat ride back to WL won't be too crazy!

DH decided we needed a bit of magic in our life and couldn't wait until our October GF trip so he made a 4 night reservation for the end of July at WL!

We decided to stay out of the parks because of the heat and are considering a carriage ride. Are both Wilderness and Port Orleans rides similar or do you recommend one over the other?

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Liz

The pools are heated to a soothing 82 degrees (unless that has recently changed). Depending on the air temp you may be chilly when you exit the pool so just bring the appropriate wraps with you. :goodvibes

thanks, i thought so. one of our favorite memories was in september when we got a room service pizza delivered down by the villas pool. we got out from swimming, ate for a bit, then swam some more. sounds like if we want to do poolside pizza this year, we'll need to just eat first and then swim to avoid hypothermia!

I think some people must be cancelling or changing their reservations....was able to switch from Woods view to standard view this morning and we saved a little over $200. Have been trying to get a standard view from the first day free dining was released. :)

Hi,

Great thread on the Wilderness Lodge Resort with an excellent content.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer.

I will be at the WL in May 2015 just me and my son. I would want a woods view room and will request one in the north wing away from the lobby.

Can anyone tell me which rooms are the King Beds? I would prefer a King Bed to have additional space but #1 preference is location.

I have noted that the King rooms at most other resorts tend to be on the corners. Does this hold true for the WL?

Thank you for your response.

Of course you find openings the one day i didn't check. :) I want to change my dates a bit. Will check when I get home.

Any more updates on the dry creek and tarps in the courtyard RIGHT NOW? I feel like everybody is so focused on the pool closing in three months that nobody is interested on keeping up on the work going on as we speak. Everything still on schedule to be running by July 4th?

I WISH people were a little more focused on the pool. It seems like everyone is going out of their way not to talk about it. We have the other threads with nasty comments, and this one with no mention of it! I wish there was some way to know how bad it is going to be. I am not totally giving up on WL but I want to know if the entire back of the hotel is going to be covered in walls/tarps.

I think someone is there now and can answer about the stream.
