(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD ~2014~

I WISH people were a little more focused on the pool. It seems like everyone is going out of their way not to talk about it. We have the other threads with nasty comments, and this one with no mention of it! I wish there was some way to know how bad it is going to be. I am not totally giving up on WL but I want to know if the entire back of the hotel is going to be covered in walls/tarps.

I think someone is there now and can answer about the stream.

The thing is, none of us know what they're planning on for work. I suspect this work was something they had not planned on doing just yet, hence the late notice, but as they progressed with the with stream & waterfall work that's going on now became apparent that it couldn't be put off.

Hopefully the stream work is not too bad and they open it back up soon. We will be there next week, if my phone cooperates I'll take some pics and harass some workmen for you :D J/k about the latter.

You're very lucky to be missing the pool closure!

No doubt at all, not because I ever swim in that pool, but because the quiet pool over near the villas will be swamped with too many guests. I hope they put a lifeguard over there to keep it safe.

I thought there always had to be a lifeguard?

The quiet pools rarely have lifeguards. But in this case, and the case of the work at the Poly's volcano pool, I certainly hope they'll be adding them as precautions. Get a few too many people in the pool and someone gets hurt.

A one bedroom villa gives you a good amount of room to stretch out. It's nice having a living room, and the kitchen, washer & dryer make it well worth it to me. I don't cook meals on vacation, but it's convenient to keep breakfast and snacks, or something for sandwiches. We've stayed in a lot of one-bedroom villas with our two sons over the years at BCV & BWV.

Hi Patty!! Well God willing, I am planning a 7 night stay next year in a one bedroom villa. I can't wait to stay in the new refurbed rooms! Plus I will make my "secret" room request! You know where to find me for more info on that! :)

There's only so many times you can beat a dead horse. Unfortunately it's something we cannot control or change. We have a choice to either stay and enjoy everything else WL has to offer, including another pool on property, or switch resorts. We are staying, construction or not. I'm actually happy this board has not been chatting about it. I think it's nicer to talk about the positives about WL. Just my opinion though.

But it looks like it's not an issue for you anyway, based on your ticker?

There are no guarantees. I don't know of any major construction project being done on time. I'm staying positive... but if it's not done, there's always another pool.

That is true. I know we are all hoping it's done early, but by then it's too late (unless it's done 45 days early!)

It's such a beautiful place. It's hard to just focus on one thing that's not perfect. It's obviously your opinion that matters in the end... You have to do what's best for you and your family. Good luck deciding!!! :)

For some folk the pool is the most important feature of the resort. I do understand. But take time and think over since that feature is most likely to be down, will it really ruin your trip? If the answer is yes, call and move your reservation. POR is beautiful and on the hotel side of the Disney resorts is my second favorite. The cabins over at the Fort are also incredible, although an entirely different experience. On the DVC side, Kidani is my favorite. But I miss the boats.

For me, the water features are wonderful, but I live to walk in that lobby the first time, hear the music and know I'm on vacation for the next week.

The little bunnies around the resort add to that. :goodvibes

It's not the most important feature - I belong to a nice pool here (at home) - we are just worried about the ambiance being ruined. Last trip I was sick (chronic migraines) and we spent a lot of time walking in the back...it was very nice! We are afraid the area with the tables outside of the fork and the walking paths near the geyser are going to be affected. If not, then it's not a problem.

We did not see a SINGLE bunny!

I will gladly SHIP you some bunnies. Evil creatures are eating my garden!

We are arriving on November 29th. I am hoping but not counting on the pool.

After much debate on what to do for our late sept/early oct vacation, we are staying put at WL. I was going to switch from Courtyard View down to Woods View but since I booked with Orbitz, I have to cancel my stay entirely and rebook. Financially it would be ideal for me to rebook when I have my full refund back, and I'm kind of not looking to play with fire, in case Woods sells out while I'm waiting for my refund.

It's just my boyfriend and I, we are in our thirties and plan to do a lot of park time and if we do have free time we will explore the WL. We only had time to use the pool once last year at our stay at Pop so I think we will be okay with a pool closure. I'm a little upset i booked a Courtyard view but it is what it is I guess!

Pulled the trigger and moved to a one bedroom villa. I was excited before, but now!!!!!!! We loved the idea of a CL potential, but knew it was remote. Yesterday was the first time since the big FD day release that a one bedroom opened up. I may be whacked, but the idea of a giant tub, big fridge, and in room washer and dryer made me more giddy than free snacks and booze.

Saw some of the views from some of the rooms. YUM. I can feel the relaxy goodness washing over me

We also think we can hide where we are longer from the DD by staying in the villa. She still has no clue. :) :wizard:

Congrats! One bedroom villas are great.

I'll join you in loving the idea of a villa over club level. Nothing beats all that a villa has to offer. :goodvibes
