Clomid users??

How many cycles on clomid did it take for you to get pregnant?

  • I got pregnant the very first month

  • Second month

  • Third month

  • Fourth month - starting to get discouraged

  • Fifth month - is this pointless?

  • Six month - I didn't think it was going to happen

  • Clomid didn't work for me

Okay I'm not totally inexperienced on the subject since it took taking clomid for me to get pregnant with DD. I got really lucky though....after over a year of trying we got pregnant my first cycle on clomid. Now I have resigned myself that this isn't the month and that any nausea I had been feeling was stress related - not pregnancy related - and that again I will be using clomid. Now I know there are several people who frequent this board who have used or are using clomid and I'm really trying to be realistic how long it might take so I'm not disappointed when we get through that first month and no pregnancy should that happen....so I'm posting a poll.....how long were you on clomid before you got pregnant - or were you not able to get pregnant using clomid?

I was on it a 1 1/2 years before I got pregnant. I didn't need it for my 2nd she was a christmas surprise.

Not to highjack your thread. But to have gotten PG on clomid did the child you had from it have a problems with there teeth?

With my first daughter, it took the 3rd try till I got pregnant. My dr upped my dosage a little more every month. I started at 50 and ended up at 150.
With my second daughter, it only took 1 month because I started on the 150.

Good Luck!

I got pg on clomid the first month, but miscarried at 8 weeks. I took the 2nd round this cycle, and I felt pregnant- nauseous/sore BB's/exhausted, but now on 9DPO I'm not really feeling anything but mildly sore BB's. I am starting to think clomid isn't for me, I'm preparing myself for the worst. I *know* I'm not the norm on this one, though!

I didn't want to vote since I m/c'ed on the first round. I guess I didn't want to "throw" the results.

(Can you tell I'm having a bad day?)

Clomid didn't work for me. I tried it for six cycles in a row and never produced large enough follicles. (Though I do have 2 little boys now that we concieved through more dramatic treatments.)

What kind of problems are you referring to? She has crooked teeth (but she got that from me)....but otherwise healthy.

My daughter had to have 16 teeth removed 2 years ago. Also a friend of mine daughter also had to have alot of teeth removed. They rotted from the root up.So by the time we noticed the problem it was to late. The dentist won't say it is from the clomid but 2 of us had the same problem. No my daughter wasn't a bottle in bed baby, she didn't suck her thumb or a binky. She LOVED to brush her teeth. Everytime we entered the bath room she brushed her teeth. Some days it was 5 times a day. She didn't have alot of sticky candys//fruit snacks. I just wanted to know if anybody else has had this problem.
My 2nd daughter same habits and no clomid not one problem with her teeth.Same with my friends 2nd.

I got pregnant the second month with clomid, all three pregnancies, although 2 were miscarriages. My fourth pregnancy was without any drugs, and that is the child with cavities, dental work and soft teeth. The older one (conceived with clomid) has perfect teeth.

Now you all have me wondering if it was because it took me 18months of clomid to conceive.I have to ask my friend how long she was on it.
thanks

I got pg the first cycle three times in a row! My second pregnancy ended in a mc due to my immune issues.

Is your doc monitoring your follicles and giving you a trigger shot? I've seen a huge difference in response to Clomid based on whether it was monitored or not.

disneybridetobe...are you seeing an RE or an OBGYN? I strongly suggest an RE. I had to be on progesterone with my first two pregnancies...blood draws every 72 hours to monitor levels for the first 10 weeks. After my mc my RE did some testing and decided my immune system had caused the mc...so for try #3 I was on a mild steroid for a full cycle before ttc until week 20 of the pregnancy...plus progesterone supplements and blood draws.

mlynn...I'm surprised your RE let you use clomid for 18 cycles. Each cycle increases your chance of liver cancer. Maybe clomid's changed in the past 7 years, but my RE really only wanted women to use it for 4 or 5 cycles before moving on to stims. I can't imagine the hormonal stress you went through!!! Three cycles of it was more than enough for me!

My dr would only let me take it for 3 months. Luckily, the last month worked for me.

I'm seeing an OBGYN, I'm really thinking about seeing a RE. I'm completely unmonitored on clomid, and it bugs me. If I do get a BFP this cycle, I'm going to be pushy about being more closely monitored. Finding out I was going to miscarry at 7 weeks when my levels never rose past 350 isn't OK. That should have been caught much sooner. :headache:

I'm just so afraid of going to new Drs, I wish getting pregnant didn't require so much intervention. :sad1:

My Dr. put me on Clomid after we had tried for a year without any luck. It took two cycles at the lowest dose (50 I think?). I'm 12 weeks now and so far so good!:goodvibes

I was on clomid sister drug serophene for over a year to no avail. I did however become pg with my first ivf cycle.

I took Clomid to get pg with my 2cnd dd. It worked the first month. My SIL took it for 4 months and on the 4th round got pg with triplets(very rare) I urge anyone to research before taking any drugs. My research showed that if Clomid is going to work for you it will most likely work in the first 3 months. Now, this was 10 years ago so things might be differant now but you should really research. I highly recommend the book 'Taking Charge of your Fertility' by Toni weschler. Very informative book for any women not just those trying to get pg.

I have been on Clomid, Humegon, IUI, etc. Clomid worked with my second son, after 17 months trying, I took a few months off during that time, for sanity sake!

With my third son, I tried clomid for a year, nothing found out I wasn't even Oing so I went to a fertility specialist, and had injections and IUI, nothing, then they discovered I had an ovarian cyst. Had surgery (it was the size of a football, so I had to be opened right up) Went in for a 2 month check, and was pregant! (not trying, no meds) With my DD I was ovulating now that this cyst was gone, first time I have cycles! BUT the luteal phase was too short for implantation, so Clomid 100mg did the trick in helping the luteal phase but it took me over a year to get pregnant. The last month we were going to even try, DH was going to get a Vasectomy the next month, I got pg! So long story, I think Clomid is great, I think you need to do a few things to counteract the side effects, and really monitor your cycles.

Good Luck! The month I got pg with DD I didn't think I was pg, was really happy with my 3 boys, and moving on, was nauseous, and voila!

Fingers crossed for you, and since it worked for you once, I am sure it will again!

I was on Clomid for 5 cycles. The 6th cycle we did Clomid with IUI and it worked.

I hope you get your BFP soon :goodvibes

Got pg with my twins on our first round. DH now says when we TTC #3 we have to try for 2 years before he'll let me use clomid again!

After five months of raging h e double hockey sticks that clomid puts your body through, we stopped trying and are taking a 6 month break from trying to get all the horomones etc out of my system. The side effects are just horrible and I was tired of feeling that way. Good luck to you!
