Clomid users??

How many cycles on clomid did it take for you to get pregnant?

  • I got pregnant the very first month

  • Second month

  • Third month

  • Fourth month - starting to get discouraged

  • Fifth month - is this pointless?

  • Six month - I didn't think it was going to happen

  • Clomid didn't work for me

I had a m/c with my first round, so I gave my body a month to recoup (Jan). Honestly, I just don't know otherwise. :confused3 I'm unmonitored, so I just do my best to make an informed decision and go from there. I'm thinking of asking my Dr. for 100mg because well, he had no problem giving me 4 months' worth of 50mg doses. :rolleyes1

I'm just so fed up with this infertility crap. :headache:

You really need to go to an RE! When I switched to a regular OB at 10 weeks I was answering questions for him! It seems that regular docs just do not have the info they need to use these drugs with much success!

I know it's spendy...my insurance didn't pay anything until I got pregnant. It was a real slap in the face when I found out I had to pay for a sono out of pocket because I'd m/c. They paid for pregnancy related..but since I wasn't pregnant...urgh!

Really, find a great doc in your area. You might have other issues muddying the waters. The RE can do a few tests and point you in the right direction!

Much baby dust!

I called my Ins. today about going to see a RE, and they said the 1st diagnostic visit is covered, so I'm going to make an appt. The rep from the insurance company couldn't give me any more info about the procedures after that but the diagnostic tests are covered, and to call back after they've made a plan of care. So, we'll see.

That TOTALLY is a slap in the face about your sono and your m/c. I'm so sorry for your loss, *HUGS*

I totally agree that the regular OB's don't have the right info, I didn't get any answers either. Oddly, he seemed suprised I knew so much. :confused3

After five months of raging h e double hockey sticks that clomid puts your body through, we stopped trying and are taking a 6 month break from trying to get all the horomones etc out of my system. The side effects are just horrible and I was tired of feeling that way. Good luck to you!

We got PG on our fifth month of Clomid. The raging horomones were crazy and I put on 20 pounds. But it was worth it, because our little miracle is almost 4 years old. Her little sister (our "let's see what happens" Alaska vacation baby) was a lot easier!
Good luck to all!

I went to see the doc today for our mid-cycle ultrasound and there was a great big cyst in the right ovary! :woohoo: I'm ovulating!! Wish us luck!!:dance3:

I can't fill out the survey because it took a year of clomid for me!! and even then they told me the folicle was no where near big enough....however I have 3 miracles.

I got a BFN this morning (10dpo) and I'm just not "feeling pregnant" the last few days, so I'm gonna call this cycle a bust. I felt pregnant for a few days, then nothing as of yesterday. I can't imagine *how* I didn't get pregnant because of the clomid and excessive BD'ing, but oh well. I am wondering if I should hold off another cycle until I use clomid again. I'm bummed.

Clomid won't do anything if your issue (or an additional issue) is implantation or hormone balance or sperm penetration or.....well about the only thing Clomid does is get your ovaries producing a lot of eggs. There are a ton of potential issues between releasing eggs and implantation.

Yeah I am really starting to think that clomid wasn't the right thing for me. Granted I did have anovulatory months, but I think I have some kind of hormone imbalance. I was diagnosed with PCOS, but I want better answers.

Something is wrong, because I think sperm meets egg, but doesnt stick. I think something either doesn't implant, or I have *very* early m/c's.

I got an appt with a RE for early March, so we'll see where that goes.

Clomid didn't work for me. My Dr. was so afraid of multipes, she made me go 3 mo. on 50mg. then 3 mo. on 100mg..... Finally, after 18 months, she told me I needed a little break. We took off a year and then we to another fertility specialist. That one we started with injections after the first mo. of clomid didn't work. We did the injections for about a year and than we had to quit.

It is an unbelieveably emotional rollercoaster and between the hormones & the financial part of it, we were wiped.
But, after a couple years, we tried it again with a new Dr. and new drugs and viola! we now have 3 beautiful, healthy children.

I know it gets frustrating, especially when you see others who can get preg. when they don't even try. But keep your spirits up and if it's something you really feel you need to do, than keep on trying. It's worth it!! But don't be afraid to ask questions, get all the info you can, and be yoru own advocate. You know your body.

Good luck!!!!!!

I will confess to not reading the entire thread, so I don't know if this was mentioned already, sorry.

My Reproductive Endocrinologist put me on metformin at the same time, and explained that it can really help with the effectiveness of clomid w/out having to up the dose and risk multiples. For PCOS patients, it can move you from "it won't work" to sucess. Might be worth asking your doc......

I'm PCOS and I took metformin too. It's also supposed to help with keeping an implanted egg, implanted. It definitely worked for me!!

I have asked my OB about metformin, and he said no b/c I'd have to go to a RE for that. I wish I'd just taken that as a BIG hint and gone to a RE earlier. :headache:

Darn PCOS.
