My mom and cousin are going to be in Kissimmee in January and are looking for a basic, inexpensive room for 3 nites. Breakfast included would be nice, as would a fridge and microwave. They aren't going to Disney (must I admit that I'm related to these people?). My cousin is attending a Corvette show at Old Town. They will have a car so don't need to be in walking distance. Even 192 West is fine. They know their way around.

Any input would be appreciated.

I checked out Masters Inn (both of them) and their rates are phenomenal, like $36/nite with breakfast. So I'd like to hear comments about that if you've got them.

They are not very picky at all. As long as the place has 2 beds, a door and running water they'll be fine.

Did you possibly look into the 3* priceline hotels? Possibly even the 2.5* ones.

Have you looked at the Days Inn Suites next door to Old Towne? I've stayed there dozens of times, and never been disappointed. You can choose between a regular room or a suite, and I know there are refridgerators and microwaves available.

I would be careful with that Days Suites...there are just as many bad reviews about the place that it doesnt sound worth taking the chance to me anyway...

If I'm not mistaken- DisneySteve- haven't you used the Days Suites???? I thought I've read some reviews on the place by yourself. I could be confusing you w/ another poster though. :confused3
Anyhow, most of the hotels right there by Old Town are questionable. I know we've stayed at the Day's Inn right next to the Day's Suites, twice. We stayed there in April of 2002 for 10 nights. I got a great rate of $19.99 (post 9/11- travel was down). This was also for a "pool view" room. The room was actually on the far end from the pool near the playground. The noise level was low, the room was clean, modern, and not bad at all. We were really suprised.
So, we stayed there again in February 2003 for a week. Got another decent rate of $29.99. Seems if you hunt around deals are to be had at this hotel. This time we were in the back of the building in a parking lot room. This room was really, really run down. Very depressing.
So, we haven't gone again. So, not sure if you'd want to check out this place.

I have to say my favorite deal yet has been the Sheraton Safari on priceline for $36/37 (can't remember which) a night in March 2004. I would LOVE to get this hotel everytime for this rate!!

Stayed there once never again.Just plain dirty ants all over the kitchen holes in the walls bedding was stained. I had some friends stay at quality suites and they said it was not bad at all.

Would it be the Quality Suites right there 2 doors down from the Days Suites?? That place doesn't look too bad at all.

kilee - You're correct. We have stayed at Days Suites and thought it was just fine. We've also stayed at Quality Suites but that is more costly.

Days Suites is $51.95/nite for their dates. Quality Suites is $98.96. I was trying to see if I could come up with a decent place for less than that.

I'm not a Priceline user. I like to know exactly where I'm staying before I make my reservation.

I highly recommend Comfort Suites Maingate East, they are sorta tucked off to the left & behind Old Town, right next to the mini golf place. It will fit their needs, expanded continental breakfast (I dont remember hot things like eggs, bacon or sausage tho) + all the suites have a wet bar, mini fridge & microwave. They may be a bit more $, most nights seem to be right around $70ish per night in January if booking through hotelmartusa.com - then there is a best internet rate guarantee through the main website of choicehotels.com where they will beat the lowest rate by an additional 10% bringing the cost alittle closer to $60 per night, so it may be worth looking into. this hotel is WAY better & cleaner than the Days Suites - completely different type of stay worth the extra $10-15 more than Days Suites.

hi
masters inn doesn.t really have a breakfast coffee and pastries. sleep inn maingate has a extended breakfast, microwave and fridge and is usuall reasonable. it is a bit out on the 192 west.

there is a motel 6 across the street - however you know how bad US 192 is for traffic.

the motel 6 is off the main US 192 highway.

I also highly recommend this hotel!! I don't think you will get any better for the rates.

Another vote for Comfort Suites. Stayed there one night in October, very clean, friendly staff. Only a couple of minutes walk to Old Town plus you can look out your room window or stand in front of building and watch bungee jumpers just a few hundred yards away. Wheww. FWIW we drove from Disney Studios parking lot to Comfort Suites and drive time only 10 minutes.
Being set back from main highway this place little quieter than some motels, plus rear of building backs up to woods and was quiet. Rate was +-$71.

Stay anywhere but Days Inn Suites! They used to be okay, but I stayed there last March and it was terrible! VERY rundown and dirty. Maybe you could luck out and get a more modern room, but I definitely wouldn't risk it. I agree with others, the Comfort Suites are supposed to be good.

I would also suggest Comfort suites maingate east!!! We are a family of 5 and have stayed there the last 4 times we have been. Large room, and a big bathroom are very big pluses to us. I always get the best price at hotelmartusa.com.

As it worked out I needed something inexpensive for one night in a few weeks. Did the best internet rate guarantee with Comfort Suites Maingate East- got their choicehotels.com rate of $71 and made reservation, found another site with rate of $64, submitted this rate at the Choice best e-rate site and got the $64 rate matched plus a 10% discount so rate is $57.60. In the whole scheme of things not that big of a savings, but if they want to offer the best rate guarantee might as well take advantage.

I also noticed that the Baymont Inn down the road from this Comfort Suites had a rate of around $54, read a couple of favorable reviews on this Baymont Inn.

I don't have any positive advice for you, but I stayed at both the regular Days Inn (1997) and the Tavelodge (1999) and both were pretty bad. I was amazed that we didn't pick up any "wildlife" at the Days Inn and they had the thinest towels I have ever seen. The Travelodge room was OK, but the common rooms and the hallways ... YUCK! Each hotel was only for one night.

Honestly, I don't think there is a particularly good choice around Old Town now that the Hyatt is gone.

please don't stay at the days inn, it was terrible, there is a holiday inn, 5 mins from old town, i called them and made a res the other day 59 dollars a night, if you are interested, p,m me and i will give u details.

I have stayed at the masters inn maingate ( the one on the sherbeth road junction) and it suited us just fine. It was a basic but large clean room with reasonable facilities that you would expect for the price. the air con was quite noisy and the breakfast was dreadful but sizzler is right next door so it wasnt a problem. We have booked to stay again so it couldnt be that bad. Its fine for a base
Claire.
