I Cannot believe Simon put Clay down! Gad, he makes me SICK sometimes! Kimberly Locke was GREAT too! Reuben was OK!

I was trying to figure out where Simon's comment came from and I think it is all about $$.

I don't think Simon sees Clay as someone who will blend well with the current trends in popular music. Even though Clay may have one of the 2 best voices in the competition, Simon isn't hearing a $ka-ching$ when he hears Clay sing. Thus, I think Simon is trying to steer the kudos away from Clay and toward someone he thinks is more likely to bring in the big bucks.

I think that Clay has the best voice of anyone on the show. I like Reuben but I don't think he's as good as Clay.

I thought Kimberly Locke blew them all away tonight.

I like Clay, he has a tremendous voice, but his stage presence is only so-so, imo. Especially given the fact he was performing a disco song, I would have expected him to dance or at least move around the stage.

At this stage of the game, my favorites are the two Kimberly's, Treyance (sp?), Reuben and Clay.

I couldn't believe how grumpy Simon was tonight!! But then, he told Ruben that he should win the competition!! Clay and Ruben are my favourites (followed by Kimberly Locke) but I must admit, Ruben is really the crowd pleaser. I wasn't enthralled by either Clay or Ruben tonight (Kimberly L rocked though!!!), but CLAY remains my favourite. GO CLAY!!! ;)

Simon was way off tonight. Clay was great!

What the heck is Simon finding to like about Carmen?! Come on!

I think we may be saying good-bye to Rickey or Josh.

I will SEE you on Saturday!;) Pick me UP in front of the All Star Sports!;)

Ricky- Loved the afro ;) A little into it, it seemed more like he was speaking it than singing, but it was such a fun performance! He's started to bore me in the past, but this one was interresting to watch!

Carmen- she gets bonus points in my book for the hair extensions and being able to walk in those shoes! I think this was one of her better performances, but then I think the backup vocals helped a lot.

Kim C- I thought this was one of her weakest performances- her limited vocal range is starting to get in the way- I'm amazed that even Paula hinted towards that! It just felt a little off tonight.

Clay rocked tonight. Nuff said. That boy has some lungs!

Trenyce- I liked her tonight, but it felt a bit more like she was just showing off her vocal range rather than singing the song- just a little too much.

Ruben- Ah yes, , the ever disco-appropriate black and white 205 shirt! I was happy thoiugh, because I've been wanting him to do Barry White. Not quite as good as I expected, but still good.

Kim L- I like Kim, but Kelly Clarkson did this song last year, and did it SO much better. I'm actually listening to it right now (hooray for downloading mp3's! ;) ) and I can't help but compare this year's group to last year. Am I the only one who thinks last year's top 10 was better than this year's?

Josh- This is such a bad style for him, but I thought his voice was fantastic.

I have to add, that despite the outfit that made me laugh for several minutes, this is one of the best guest judges they've had- he gave actual critiques instead of just telling everyone they were good.

The best part of the show was this guy who was sitting behind Simon, making these shocked faces at all of Simon's comments. Classic!

I was soooooo mad when Simon dissed Clay like that. I was just waiting for the "April fools!" I couldn't believe he was actually serious.

And then he goes and tells Ruben that he should win the competition?! I think Ruben is good, but he is definitely no Clay. I thought Clay was great tonight as usual, and I also liked Trenyce and Kim L.

Everytime he sings I picture him on Broadway. Maybe it's because I love broadway hits. I also picture him singing to Disney soundtracks. I think if he had moved around a little bit more it would have impressed everyone even more. He's still one of my favorites.

I thought Kimberly L. was amazing tonight. I was really hoping she would sing I will survive, but she chose a great song for her vocally.

Ruben did well also. Barry White was very appropriate for him.

Poor Josh, I felt so sorry for him tonight. I just wanted to grab him and give that boy some lovins!! He's definately a country boy. I really think he's going to have trouble pulling off another genre with his country twang. He's my most favoritest anyway.

Trenyce I thought did very well also. I liked that she was showing off her voice tonight. That's what everyone needs to hear.

Ricky....ugh ugh ugh. I just can't stand that high pitched voice. I think he's sweet, but not even close to American Idol in my book.

Carmen...I can't believe Simon dissed everyone else but claimed she did so well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Turn the beat around a Gloria Estefan song from 1994??? UGh, I thought she was horrid. (ok, I just looked it up, the song was originally recorded by Vickie Sue Robinson, but I still kept picturing Gloria singing it)

Kimberly C., Eh, her looks and stage presence will keep her around. I'm not crazy about her voice either.

Sorry but Clay is wearing on me. He's getting to be a one-note Charlie. I thought that this night was bad for everyone. They should ban disco, it was terrible.

I think, hope that Rickey will be gone tonight, although Josh was awful, awful, awful. He also looked like he didn't want to be there. I wonder if he is missing his wife and daughter and just wants to be home and back in the Marines.

I disagree with other people, I thought that Carmen was pretty good, much better than Kimberly C. I thought that Simon was right on when he said that she belonged in a theme park. Carmen to me is a breath of fresh air and at least she has more than a 3 note range.

No one in this show has the range that either Kelly or Tamara has but from 1 to 12 they are much better than last year.

I totally agree with GoofieRuthie about Clay. I actually think he has (by far) the best voice in the group, but I think he's much more suited to be a Broadway sensation than a pop star.

I don't like Carmen much, but this was the best performance I've seen her give. (But she's still not in the same league as some of the others.)

I wasn't impressed with Kim C's singing tonight, although her stage presence was (as usual) great. I doubt she'll be eliminated tonight, but I hope she's in the bottom three again -- she still needs to be taken down a few pegs.

I didn't like Josh's performance at all, but I love him, so I hope the voting public forgives that performance and keeps him around.

Rickey's song was pretty weak. I'd like to see him eliminated tonight.

Loved Trenyce's performance almost as much as I loved Kim L's performance.

And what can I say about Ruben? LOVE HIM! (And for once I agree with Simon -- I think Ruben should win the whole thing.)

Wow! Now we have two long AI threads running about last night's episode. I responded to the other one with my comments. You guys might want to see those other opinions too (very similar to these).

Other AI thread about 4/1 show

I think Simon is making up for saying that Clay was the "one to beat in this competition" by beating up on him every week now. I thought he did a GREAT job!

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I am NOT liking Kimberly Locke. Especially last night! "It's Raining Men" -- until she got to the upper registers of the song, she was terrible. She can't do those low notes.

Also, her outfit was atrocious! As they pointed out in another thread today, she needs to do something about that tummy roll! I know it's not supposed to be about weight, but it's very unbecoming and you end up staring at her outfit and shape and it detracts from her overall appearance.

I still love Clay's voice, but I think some of you are right about his look.

And despite the fact that Paula keeps saying "You look like you're having a good time tonight" -- I never think any of them do. I keep thinking they are so uneasy singing songs that some of them are too young to have ever even heard of and can't pull off.
