Citrico's, Narcoosee's or ??? for Date Night?

Hi!

My DH and I are going to have a "date night" when we return to the World in November, and we would like to go somewhere nice and quiet so we can talk and relax together minus children for a few hours.

What are your recommendations? In reading through all of our info, we're leaning towards Citrico's or Narcoosee's, but can't decide. It will not be a park day, so we need to stick to the resort spots.

Are there any places where we can sit at a chef's counter so we can watch the action?

My husband and I love Shula's. If your looking for a great steak or seafood. Nice inside and if its a night away from kids this is the place b/c they shy away from kids by not offering a kids menu. Great chocolate souffle for 2 for dessert. Big portion sizes. Good service. Whats better.

California Grill, Flying Fish, Citrico and Jiko have open kitchens although at Citrico there aren't any counter seats.

Does Victoria and Albert's interest you? It is very romantic and quiet. The only child we've seen there was our own son when he went in my place one night. Seriously, children are rare there. At any other restaurant at WDW, I think you can count on seeing some children. We've found children to be rather well behaved at the more expensive spots and we always took our own to such spots as they were growing up.

We enjoy both Citrico and Narcoossee's but if it's quiet you're seeking, Citrico fits that bill. It is a large space with carpeted floors that has only been full once in the times we've dined there. We've always seen children there but they've always been as quiet as the adults.

Narcoossee's is a lovely spot with great seafood. It has hardwood floors that fit the theme but do add to the noise level.

We've never tried Shula's but as Disney1-30-98 said it does sound as if they're not very child friendly. In fact people have reported that free child care is offered!

Fromt he ones you asked about, Citrico's would be my choice It's elegant, quiet, romantic, and very few children.

Shula's would also be a good choice, free chldcare for the kiddies sounds like a plan to me! Then after dinner the whole family can head over to the BW for some family fun--and you can walk off some fo the calories

Jiko is my favorite WDW restaurant. You can sit at the counter, but they don't do all the cooking in the open, only certain things. If you want to see all the action the California Grill would be the place--but it's quite noisy.

I've never eaten at Narcoosee's, but I've had 2 bad meals at Citricos and won't be going back.

For a romantic evening, how about California Grill. The view is incredible!

Of the two restaurants you mentioned, I would recommend Narcoosee's. It's right on the water with a view of the Magic Kingdom and the other monorail resorts. However, if it were my wife and I, we would definitely choose the Flying Fish Cafe on the Boardwalk, arguably the best restaurant in the World. Hope you have a great time no matter which you choose.

I liked Citricos, but last trip I took my gf to the California Grill the food was good, atmoshpere quiet and view spectacular. Book it around the time of the fireworks at the MK


PS we had the triple garlic flatbread, the goat cheese ravioli and my gf had the fillet while I had the roast pork loin. It was all delicious.

How about Jiko's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have always had relaxing dinners there. I believe they have chef's counter that you can sit at and watch the chef's prepare the appetizers in the wood-fired oven. It is in the middle of the restaurant (I'm trying to remember if they have some bar stools that you can sit at, I think they do). There is also a small seating area with tables near the podium that you can sit at and have a drink. You can also stroll out into the AKL viewing area and watch some of the animals walk by. They also have a storyteller in the viewing area.

Since "minus children"" (yours as well as others??) seems to be the main theme, I'd go with Citricos. Narcoosee's is just too noisy to be considered a quiet spot.
I'd also agree with Shula's and/or Jiko's as possible alternatives, and would add Palio to the list as well.

Thanks so much for the great advice! I've printed your replies and thought that I'd grab the menus from Deb Wills' wdwig.com and let hubby decide.
