Um Catchy tune...

Cinderella.....you're as lovely as your name....cinderella.........
Oh yes it goes through your head over and over and over again......
You know, it was not until you quoted those lyrics (they are from the title song in the Disney Classic FILM, "Cinderella") that I noticed something STRANGE about them.
Its a major POINT of the Cinderella story that the little "cinder girl" was called CINDERella as a derrogertory name (she was dirty from the ashes and cinders).
The name itself was an INSULT.
Why would such a great song-writing team (and Walt Disney himself) put a SONG in a film that says, "CINDERella, you're as LOVELY as your NAME"... ?
Would we sing, "Hey, BOW-LEGS, you're as lovely as your name"... ?
or, "Tone-Deaf, you're as lovely as your name"... ?
how about, "Four-Eyes, you're as lovely as your name"... ?
I know there's no "-ella" at the end of those, but still, of all the things to single-out, an INSULT-NAME is a strange thing to compare to a damsels' beauty in a title song.
