Christmas Weather 2022

My MIL is flying in on Friday to Philly from Orlando to visit us for Christmas. I don’t anticipate her plane arriving on time. It’s supposed to drop 40 degrees during the day on Friday here. We start out in the 50s and end up in the teens.

Here in SE Michigan we're looking at a winter storm and possible blizzard conditions on Friday. I was going to go down to my sister's on Christmas Eve but might wait until Christmas Day if it looks dicey.

Stay safe, everyone!!!

Western NY but Rochester area. We are not going to get much snow but rain and then ice and wind. I am jealous of Buffalo's snow. We have not gotten much of anything yet this year. Buffalo is definitely on track to win the golden snowball this year. Earlier in the week I was a little bit (ok not really) hopeful for a snow day on Friday but that is not going to happen now with rain coming. Instead we will all come to school and then they will cancel after school activities when the temperature drops. My son is coming home from Philly tonight to avoid the weather.

NE Ohio here. It’s supposed to start raining tomorrow, then a huge temperature drop on Friday into the low teens/single digits. Coupled with high winds, they’re predicting power outages. The high winds continue through Saturday with snow. My Dad is supposed to come here Saturday, but I will tell him to stay home if it’s bad out. I’m trying to decide what to do about the food planned for Saturday.

We’re on vacation right now and trying to figure out the best way to get home to Cleveland on Friday. Original flight plan had us going through Newark (from Costa Rica), but we’re looking at changing to Houston, thinking we might have better luck. And moving it earlier in the day as well.

Buffalo rural suburb... looks like it could be wacky this year. My parents are driving up today. We are set to host a party on Friday, looks like it's going to drop to 10 degrees that night with 50mph wind and maybe 5 inches of snow (which is basically nothing compared to what we had before Thanksgiving). Just making sure we have the generator ready...

On the bright side we are taking 2 trips to Florida in January and February, byeeee.

Good luck to everyone traveling in the messy weather! Here in Alabama, while it will be the coldest Christmas in many years, at least it will be dry. I wouldn't mind a White Christmas again (we had one back in 2010), but you know an inch of snow can shut us down here in the South!

Cold but no snow. Upper single digits overnight only into the low/mid 20sF on Eve and Day. That’s a 30+ drop from Friday.

The coldest Christmas I remember was 1983. Only about 8F for the high with minus degrees overnight.

The warmest was in 2015. Three record breaking high temp days in a row mid to upper 70s.

I’ve only experienced 3 or 4 White Christmases in 60+ years. So who are these people dreaming about a White Christmas “just like the ones they used to know”??? They also probably only had a few but think it was annual.

I’m wondering if Newark is a better option since the system is moving west to east. Temps are supposed to plummet early Friday, so icy conditions are the biggest concern.

I hope you do not have any issues traveling home. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Cold. They're predicting a winter storm on Friday... then temperatures will drop like a rock with high winds. They're predicting highs just above zero on Saturday and Sunday with wind chills in the double-digits below zero. Ohio gets "winter" so we're used to cold weather, but not THIS cold. It should be fine as long as we don't lose power though.

Cold but clear. Warm and rain on Friday but then temperatures will plummet and I’m concerned about the wet roads freezing.

New Orleans here. We've been in the 40s-50s for the past few days. Going to warm up to near 70 tomorrow, then absolutely plummet. Bottoming out around 24 tomorrow night, with wind chills close to zero. And then we're going to stay at or below freezing until sometime Christmas afternoon, with wind gusts around 50mph for most of it. No chance of snow sadly, except possibly a tiny flurry or two late Thursday night into the wee hours of Friday morning. We're not used to this down here!

And first world problem, we were supposed to drive an hour each way to see the Bonfires on the Levee Christmas Eve night. But with winds that high I'm sure they're cancelled. And even if they're not, local weather service is telling us all those bridges through the bayou will be extremely dangerous to drive. So, hopefully next year!

Stay safe everyone!!

Western MD here. Storm warning out for tomorrow. 4-8" of snow and freezing rain, followed by rain. Temps dropping here also, will be a high of 19 Christmas eve Day, and 24 on Christmas Day. Brrrr..:cold:❄️☃️

We have tickets for the Baltimore Ravens game on Christmas Eve day with my daughter’s boyfriend and his extended family. It’s going to be 24 degrees with a low of 12. We bought long underwear and hand warmers, will be wearing heavy coats, hats, gloves, and will bring quilts with us. But we are going to freeze our butts off.

Indy here. We are in the land of in-between. We might get blasted by snow, but then again, we might not. It depends on how far south the snow belt goes. But, we will most certainly be cold and be beat to death by the wind gusts.

My daughter has been planning to drive home from Fort Wayne on Friday afternoon.... any bets on when we actually get to see her?

I go to my Duluth freighter cams every day. It's ten below right now at the canal cam! :cold: The sea smoke is awesome, tho! :thumbsup2
We were up there a few weeks ago, with low single digit temps and sub zero windchills. There were two freighters anchored, and we could just see the very tops of them. It was stunning. Cold and miserable, but that was stunning.
