Terrible. We didn't get hit too super bad in Alden, maybe 25 inches. All our roads are cleared and we amazingly never lost power (and our power goes out all the time). My brother in law lives downtown and says it's a disaster.

It looks like it. I retired this year after going to school & working downtown since 1975. So glad I did, I’ve been stuck at work, stranded trying to get home or praying all the way in so many times. I’m West Seneca Orchard Park boarder, we got a lot again yesterday. Only 2 or 3 more months of bad weather left!

Do you drain the pipes or just turn the water off?

We turned the water off in the house, not the curb. We didn't drain the lines since we were more worried about the pipes freezing then busting and the water continuing to run for a week. We figured if they do freeze and bust, it will just be the water in them and the only one really in danger is the scuba tank.

Most houses have a low point drain inside the house. Usually a little thumbscrew on a fitting where the water comes in to the house. Open it up and open a tap at the highest point in the house and it will drain everything in between. ( Operative term here is usually).

Our house was built in 1989 and we are on a slab. The only turn off we have is at the meter. A few years ago I swapped all my outside spigots to the frost proof ones. When you turn them off they spray out what's in the outside part of the spigot so they cannot freeze. Just wanted so share that for some strange reason lol.
