I go to my Duluth freighter cams every day. It's ten below right now at the canal cam! The sea smoke is awesome, tho!

I'm obsessed with the canal cam, too. Duluth is my favorite place to be, in any weather!

Like elgerber, I'm in MN and it's dumb. School got cancelled for tomorrow, at least, but my kid still won't wear a jacket or hat or gloves to the bus stop. It was negative 6 this morning, plus wind-chill. I assume he still has his fingers and nose.

10 inches of snow tonight for my area. Dh has to leave for work at 5 tomorrow AM,.so we will be out there shoveling around 345 tomorrow morning.

Our snow started a couple of hours ago. was -12, up to -8 now. This is going to be a very long nasty few days.

We’re in North Central Ohio not far from Lake Erie although fortunately not in the snow belt area. They are calling for 1-3 inches of snow Friday/Saturday which should still be here on Christmas cause it’s only going to be averaging about 10 degrees.

My MIL is flying in on Friday to Philly from Orlando to visit us for Christmas. I don’t anticipate her plane arriving on time. It’s supposed to drop 40 degrees during the day on Friday here. We start out in the 50s and end up in the teens.

I'm just over the bridge from Philly-our Christmas Eve plans for a family get-together are shot because the rain we're going to get on Thursday into Friday morning is supposed to flash freeze. We don't everyone traveling in it to try and get to our house.

NE Wisconsin, halfway between Green Bay and Milwaukee. My mother drove from Minneapolis today because of how bad the roads are supposed to be the rest of the week. Started today at -2, currently +6, supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow tonight, then another 1-3 tomorrow night with winds 50+ through Saturday. Tomorrow is supposed to be my kids' last day of school before Christmas break, they warned us yesterday they may call off school. A small number of districts have already called off tomorrow including the one directly to our south.

South of Chicago. Upgraded to warning but the snow amounts have been lowered.

Last week I was offered a trade- work that Friday and get the this Friday off, I took it and I am really glad. Work plans on staying open. I do not have to attempt the trek- I am sure the state road will be closed. It is an open road from flat corn fields. I will be home with books to read.

Sunday if my mom’s rural driveway is not plowed, we will go that way. DH says he will shuttle peeps to her, so she won’t be alone.

I’m wondering if Newark is a better option since the system is moving west to east. Temps are supposed to plummet early Friday, so icy conditions are the biggest concern.

Should have kept the Newark flight. We moved our route through Houston but have been stuck here since about 10am. All flights into anywhere in Ohio have been canceled. Best hope is getting a 6:30pm flight to Pittsburgh and renting a car from there

Sorry, good luck. Blizzard in full force here in WNY. We have wind gusts in the 60 -70 MPH range, with some up to 79MPH. Lots of power outages & pretty much zero viability in the whole reaction since about 9 am. Temperature is 6° right now. Winds are supposed to get worse overnight with lake effect snow kicking in tomorrow. Storm projected to last til Sunday or Monday. Good luck to everyone traveling.

If the Pittsburgh flight is a go, you may need to avoid turnpike travel. I believe the Ohio Turnpike is closed. You may want to get a hotel reservation at the current airport or reserve one in Pittsburgh. I wish you safe travels home.

It's finally going to get above freezing today for a few hours. Definitely nothing like a lot of you are experiencing, but we're not built for single digit wind chills here down here! Hope everyone stays warm and cozy this Christmas weekend!

Cold here mid Georgia. Supposed to get to maybe 21 today, tiny bit above tomorrow but 50 by end of week.
Weather guy said this morning it had been 10 years since the Atlanta area had dropped to single digits. Brrrr

Still in a blizzard in WNY. The city of Buffalo is ground zero. No emergency services in the city & most of the county. Fire trucks, ambulances etc are stuck in the snow trying to make rescues. Saying about 3/4 of the emergency vehicles are stuck. News is reporting a mother having to manually bag respirations into her year old baby for hours because the power has been out so the ventilator isn’t working. They are the top priority but no one can get to them. There have been 2 deaths from people who had medical emergencies at home but EMTs couldn’t reach them. This is a tragedy in the making. Storm to continue til sometime tomorrow.

Thanks. Made it home around 1:15 last night. The drive from Pittsburgh was actually not too bad. Roads were pretty clear, even the turnpike.

Heading for Los Angeles. Apparently the cold weather in other parts of the country means a distribution with near record highs in Southern California. I'm not quite sure about this article since it's still been somewhat cold here in Northern California.
