Would anyone who has done these two events please post reviews here? Since I am not going now until mid-December, I'm thinking of one or the other but I would like to hear about people's experiences first before committing. Were the characters worth it? I expect food to be "meh" but if the character interaction is good, I'm in! Especially for the dinner...which is totally sold out.

Let us hear from you! TIA as always.

I'm also curious. I am really excited about the characters at dinner, but I have so many food items that I want to try in the parks that I hate to waste a meal on mediocre food.
Bonus points if your review covers vegetarian entrées.

I'm vegetarian and will be doing the Christmas Carol dinner this coming Saturday evening. Though I'm also hoping to read about how it is before then, too!

I really hope this is better than the Halloween Dinner.

For the Halloween dinner food was standard fare as normal buffet, with 2 tiny desserts looking "themed." Minimal decorations on the buffet, nothing elsewhere. Music loop was the same as usual, they only changed to a Halloween tune when the characters did that "parade" when they walk through the restaurants.

They seem to sit in rotations, so they tried to get us to go after 37 minutes. No typo. We all checked our phones for time because we went "huh?" Don't get me wrong, I am okay with time limits. But 37 minutes is ridiculous. At that point we had seen three of the characters only and the two guys I was with weren't even close to finish eating.

Sadly character interactions were "meh" at best too. The only one who did make some sort of effort to interaction was Clarabelle.

Personally I think they were underestimating the popularity and were rushing everything because they panicked.

Still trying to get a res for 2 people on a Saturday for dinner and having no luck - what’s the chance of getting a walk in, if show up at 4pm?

Will the hotel let me park for free without a reservation?

Cancellations could still happen between now and then. Did you set a dining alert? I'd also just check the website a few times a day. I'm not sure about the parking.

Okay hi sorry this is a week after the fact! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Christmas carol dinner. The characters were great, we were not at all rushed, and the food was pretty good for a buffet. They had a butternut squash ravioli that I really enjoyed, excellent roasted vegetables, and if you eat fish they also had a nice salmon. Plenty of kid-friendly options (Mac and cheese, chicken fingers, etc), and also a variety of meats. I thought the variety of salads was also nice. Worth it if you or your kids want to see those characters!

Thanks for the review. I am a butternut squash fan and I do really want to see those characters. Glad you thought it was worth it.

We did both the Storytellers Brunch and Dinner in the few days prior to Thanksgiving. I think of the 2, the dinner is better. I thought the dinner menu was pretty nice, it's certainly the best buffet I've had on a Disney property (though maybe that's not saying much, lol). As others have mentioned the butternut squash ravioli was really good.

Some other things on the menu off the top of my head that i could remember:

braised short rib
pork belly
teriyaki chicken
baked salmon
cocktail shrimp
prime rib at turkey at carving station
popcorn shrimp
pizza
mac and cheese

The characters are more fun for dinner as well with Scrooge / Goofy as Marley / Clarabelle / Minnie / Pluto

The brunch was good too, generally I like brunch at Storytellers. They have usual breakfast stuff like eggs, bacon, sausage, mickey waffles. No french toast unfortunately. I don't remember much of the lunchy items, they had the same salmon as dinner. I think the carving station had the same turkey as dinner I believe, and then some kind of beef (I think tri tip maybe?)

But I think if you're going to do one I'd try to go for the dinner, I think the dinner is only like $5 more

How were the character interactions at the brunch? Did thry come to your table? lots of photos?

I can't eat most of the food so I really only go for the characters...
really hoping *********** comes through with a dinner rezzie...

They come to your table yes, you will see all of them eventually (and if you're waiting a long time for a particular character you can let the attendant know and they can often get the ones you're missing to come by if you're trying to leave). There's no photographer, most people were taking their photos just on their own. If you want a picture of your whole party you'd probably have to ask another guest sitting nearby, there's rarely a server around when the character is there. But they will take pictures with whoever you want in whatever combinations you want. If you've ever been to a character meal before, but it's pretty similar to every other character meal in that regard (the exception is Plaza Inn at DL, which I think has a lot more interaction than most, though it's been many years since I've been there). They also play off of you in part as well, we're mostly just wave and take pictures with the kids people, lol. If you are more interactive then they generally will be too
