Christmas bunting across Main Street

Maybe it's because I'm used to having the tree on Main Street during Christmas week, but it looks so dark! I agree that the garland got in the way of the castle, but it looked so cool against the white lights of the Main Street buildings.

I hope they find a way to brighten it up a bit. Another family is joining us this year and we've been building it up!

I think it looks so dark because most of the buildings outdoor lights are off or significantly dimmed. If the photo was taken in the wee hours of the morning, the park was closed (evidenced by the carts in the middle of Main Street).

And, just to keep things straight, the MK Christmas tree (when it's up, and it isn't right now) is located completely at the other end of Main Street in Town Square.
So it would not affect the light appearance or light-levels in this photo, regardless.

:thumbsup2 Agreed. It feels like it's missing something. Hopefully during park hours it's brighter

Hmm...I thought it was nice in the daylight pictures, but I think it's kind of blah at night. I thought those candles would be brighter or something?

The garlands will be missed :(

I wasn't all that impressed with the photos from WDW Magic, but this one that came through my Twitter feed does the wreaths more justice. I think it looks nice.

It's alright, but I so loved the bunting. It just reminded me of my hometown when I was little. Oh, well.....things change.

I stole the photo from my Twitter feed. It's actually from Tom Johnson at Fox 35.

Hey Plutothedog, keep in mind that photo I posted was taken early a.m. while the park was closed. They may not have had all the lights on at the time.

Ah, very true! When I saw 3:45am for some reason my mind went to late-night EMH.. Imagine that? :rotfl2:

I'm sure Disney will wow us, regardless. Main Street sans garland will be different, but it certainly won't ruin my vacation!

I like the new look! I think the garland blocked the castle as well.

Completely unrelated, bunting is just one of those words that sound dumb saying out loud.

As much as I miss the garland, it's a nice consolation prize to have the view opened up. However, that lovely view will be gone again when the parade is done taping and they put the Christmas tree up there again.

Actually one of my favorite shots from last year I took at about 1am on the left side of the train station terminal with very few people on the street. It's not a complete view of the castle but the tree and lit castle share the center with main street's lights.

I like that view too. I took this one from the other side. But I liked having the garland in the shot.

We should get some nice pictures from tonight. Elsa is lighting Cinderella's castle tonight.

I could be wrong, but other than the tree, I don't really recall any significant decorations being added after the official castle lighting.

Ummm, you forgetting Home on the Range and Chicken Little? ...because even the most mouth foamy Frozen hater agrees those two are the absolute worst Disney films of all time. But yes, I like the lights, personally I always preferred white lights myself, but I don't have a problem with multi colored ones...with the white Castle lights in the center, I think the colors to the side will frame it nicely...and yes, it isn't bunting, it is garland...but what can we do about it now, can open, worms everywhere.

Whoa whoa whoa- I'd take those admittedly not great movies (HOTR, CL) over the terrible Treasure Planet any day! Not to hijack the thread-- return to garland discussion--

I almost threw that and Atlantis in there :)

Now I don't think Frozen is that great, and it annoys me when people drop "Lighting" and make it Elsa's Castle...nope, she just lights it, it is Cinderella's Castle, you know, the one with curfew issues.

I hope to see some more night shots with everything done soon. The weather finally dropped to a nice crisp low 60's here and rainy, so Texas Christmas weather.

Well, that's only if one stood in the area behind the tree. Anyone on Main St standing directly in front of the tree facing the castle will still have the unobstructed view, all opened up for the entire length of Main St to the Castle. I think the tree will look nice and not obstruct anyone's view of the Castle,(except of course the area in the square there behind the tree).

I always have like the garland. Will have to see how the street looks all lit up to decide on the new stuff, but expect it should look nice. Look forward to seeing more pics later tonight, so hopefully someone will post some! :santa:

Hmm the pictures I've seen so far tonight just don't seem to stand out either with the lighting, I feel like it was so much brighter with the garland. Anyone get some good pictures to post? I haven't seen much of any of the new Main Street decorations all lit up. Searched but most from tonight are only of the castle, which makes you wonder, guess it's not too pretty anymore of a focus point for pictures (Main Street) without the garland. Oh well. I'm sure we will all get use to it. :)

So the Christmas tree doesn't go up until after the taping of the parade?
