Christian Music Thread

TLHB70, I'm praying for you and your family as you try to decide what to do about your current church. I had attended the same church for over 28 yrs. when we got a new pastor and everything went haywire! I was so torn about whether to stay or to go. But I couldn't stand for the Word of God being mocked (amongst other things) ans so we left. It was hardest on me as I grew up in that church, my DH and kids hadn't been there nearly as long. It was a very rough time for me especially because we found a church that was just starting up and a lot of DH's friends went there, but not mine. The kids liked it too, so I went along with it. I really wasn't thrilled, but I could see that God was at work there! Long story short, we are still at the new church and I am much more content than I was. The sermons are usually very good and everything else I can deal with! So, I know where you are right now...I have been there. God will let you know what to do, just be listening.

I love the songs that everyone is signing! Jill, it's so good to see you Sis! I LOVE "How Deep the Father's Love For Us"!!!! Thanks for sharing that Sara Groves song and video...wow!

I know I've promised to "sing" a song. But as always, I'm wiped out and have more on my plate than I have time for. Keep singin'!

hi everybody, glad to see all the singing going on, just wanted to let any of you that are american idol fans and looking for a horse to back, jason castro (the one with the dreads), is a member of our church and part of our praise team, so any help to keep him going on will be appreciated.

Hi Everyone!

I love Jars of Clay's version of this song! Isn't it good to know that we are "bound for the promised land?"

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land
Where my possessions lie

All o’er those wide extended plains
Shines one eternal day
There God, the Son forever reigns
And scatters night away.

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

No chilling wind nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore
Where sickness, sorrow, pain and death
Are felt and feared no more

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

When shall I see that happy place
And be forever blessed
When shall I see my Father’s face
And in His bosom rest

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

Good morning everyone! :wave:

Thank you for the words of encouragement, Stamper. God is faithful and He has used His Word to strengthen me. I am feeling much better today. It is still a difficult place to be in. However, I am recognizing that it is a place to stand and shine for Him. He is at work and I am thankful for that. He has not left me alone. I am thankful that He is personal and that He has given me spiritual wisdom and discernment where compromise is concerned.

I think this song is a great one for this morning!

In the Waiting
By Greg Long

Pain.
The gift nobody longs for; still it comes.
But somehow leaves us stronger when it's gone away.
Pray.
I try and pray for Your will to be done.
But I confess it's never fast enough for me it seems.
The hardest part is waiting on You.
When what I really want is just to see Your hand move.

I want a peace beyond my understanding.
I want to feel it fall like rain
In the middle of my hurting.
I want to feel Your arms as they surround me.
And let me know that it's okay
To be here in this place
Resting in the peace that only comes
In the waiting.

Time.
Time to let it go and just believe.
Trusting in what no one else but You can see.
Free.
Freedom from the fears that close me in.
And I can get beyond where I have been
But then again, the silence doesn't mean that I'm alone.
As long as I can hear that I am still Your own.

Refrain.

Cristy, were you in my church this past week???? We have sung, On Jordan's Stormy Banks a lot recently as it has gone with the sermon series and I was going to post it here yesterday but I didn't get a chance! LOVE IT! Thanks for posting.

Hi Tash! :wave: It's OK if you're tired...You can sing next time and were going to hold you to it! ;)

pogo, I haven't been watching it this round but I will check out the "dreads" guy! BTW, thanks for the info on Larry Norman and all of the songs of his you sang. It's so good to know he was ready, and is now in the presence of God and living in the awesome light of His glory!!!

Good to hear the songs today everyone!

TLH, I appreciate your adding the links so I can hear the songs I don't know. :thumbsup2

REST/ Big Daddy Weave
To all who are weary and those who are heavy laden
Lay at the feet of the one who loves you best
Bring all of your trials and all of your tribulation
Come unto me and I will give you rest

I will give you rest

Take my yoke upon you
Come and learn from me
For I am humble in spirit and so you must also be
Lo I will be with you in the midst of every test
If you run unto me, I will give you rest

I will give you rest

Well, since Casting Crowns is a fave around here, I decided to post this one (hope it hasn't been posted recently).

East To West

Here I am, Lord, and I'm drowning in your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me
I yearn for peace and rest
I don't want to end up where You found me
And it echoes in my mind, keeps me awake tonight
I know You've cast my sin as far as the east is from the west
And I stand before You now as though I've never sinned
But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away from You leaving me this way

Jesus, can You show me just how far the east is from the west
'cause I can't bear to see the man I've been come rising up in me again
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
'cause You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other

I start the day, the war begins, endless reminding of my sin
Time and time again Your truth is drowned out by the storm I'm in
Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away from You leaving me this way

I know You've washed me white, turned my darkness into light
I need Your peace to get me through, to get me through this night
I can't live by what I feel, but by the truth Your word reveals
I'm not holding on to You, but You're holding on to me
You're holding on to me

Jesus, You know just how far the east is from the west
I don't have to see the man I've been come rising up in me again
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
'cause You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other
(Just how far the east is from the west, just how far)
One scarred hand to the other
(Lord, Just how far the east is from the west, just how far)
From one scarred hand to the other

And since Kutless is coming in April (although I doubt that any of us will go...maybe DD)....

Strong Tower

When I wander through the desert
And I'm longing for my home
All my dreams have gone astray
When I'm stranded in the valley
And I'm tired and all alone
It seems like I've lost my way

(chorus)
I go runnin' to Your mountain
Where your mercy sets me free
You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King
You are my strong tower
Fortress when I'm weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I seek

In the middle of my darkness
In the midst of all my fear
You're my refuge and my hope
When the storm of life is raging
And the thunder's all I hear
You speak softly to my soul

(chorus)
now i'm runnin' to Your mountain
Where your mercy sets me free

You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King
You are my strong tower
Fortress when I'm weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I seek
And Your face is all I seek
Yeah" Your face is all I seek

I go runnin' to your mountain
Where your mercy sets me free

You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King
You are my strong tower
Fortress when I'm weak
Your name is true and holy
"Your name is true and holy" (2x)

TLH, I appreciate your adding the links so I can hear the songs I don't know. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I like to listen to the songs on the computer as I sing them so I decided to post the links in case anyone else would like to listen and sing along.
I agree that it is handy to have the clips/links for the songs that are new. I have learned some great ones here already!!! :thumbsup2

Guess what??? We got home from church tonight and the freezer in the garage had gone out. We have been outside cleaning the freezer and ground. :scared: :scared: :scared1: :scared1: :eek: :eek:

I had to bump this...hope to have time to read through it later! <><

Hi everyone! :wave:
Things have been pretty rough here today. After cleaning the meat out of the freezer, cleaning the freezer, and getting the yucky stuff off of the garage floor, we finally made it to bed around 11 PM. My youngest DD woke up just before 3 AM with a stomach virus. She has been sick today. :sick: :guilty:
I pray that the rest of us will not come down with this virus.

So...............here is my song for today.

King Of the Jungle
Psalm 24:1, Psalm 46, Psalm 47:7-8
Steven Curtis Chapman

Well the day has just begun and I'm already running late
With too many irons in the fire and too much on my plate
I'd be pulling out my hair if I could just get one hand free
And I'd stop this world if I could find the key

CHORUS
What I feel is telling me I'm going crazy, but
What is real says God's still on His throne
What I need is to remember one thing
That the Lord of the gentle breeze is Lord of the rough and tumble
And He is King of the Jungle

People say this world's a jungle and sometimes I must admit
I'd be scared to death if I did not know who was king of it
But the truth is God created this whole world with His own hand
So everything is under His command

(Chorus)

K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
He is the king of creation
K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
Ruler of the earth and sky and the sea
K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
He's always in control
He is the King of kings

(Chorus)

(Chorus)

TLH, SO SORRY about all of the rough days you've had! :guilty: That freezer stuff is not at all pleasant to deal with. I know that can be a fiasco. I never had it happen yet but our fridge is old so who knows when it will :eek:

I will pray that your dd gets healthy quickly. That is a nasty bug.

I love "King of the Jungle" by SCC. I teach Elementary Music in a Christian School and my fourth graders performed the Musical King of the Jungle by Celeste Clydesdale last year. It uses that SCC song as the theme song!

Tasha thanks for singing Casting Crowns and Kutless. Those are awesome songs! Are you going to see Kutless?

I wanted to pray a prayer for the church and for our chuches today as we know that we are vulnerable and always need to be watching out for the one who would seek to devour and destroy us. So I lift up this pray now... please feel free to add to it!

Dear heavenly Father,
I lift up our churches today. I pray that we would be faithful and obedient followers of You and Your precious Son Jesus. Give us a love and a passion for You and for Your Word and for those you Love and seek to bring into Your kingdom. Help us to be united and to work together as local bodies for the global purpose of spreading the Word and sharing the grace, mercy, joy, love and peace contained in Your awesome Gospel! Make it so that Your children in your churches will consistently strive to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and to run the race set before us and seek the prize of becoming a part of Your great Kingdom Work! As we sit on the threshold of the day when history comes racing into the lap of Jesus, may we as Your people be like-minded and diligent to see the lost come to you and to see, and hear, and sing, and proclaim YOUR TRUTH. May we stand firm and not allow Your truth to become watered down or distorted, just to make it more palatable. May, in fact, the Truth of the Gospel penetrate souls deeply and may those in need be willing to submit to Your refining process, which while it can seem painful to endure at times, is for our purification and sanctification and for OUR BEST! May we see your plans and purposes as our own and may we, like Jesus, be obedient to Your call and Your will.

I ask that you would stir the hearts and minds of Christians all over to be faithful to pray for your Kingdom and for Your church as we stand in the line of fire and as the days of evil draw near to a close. Evil will rise up but you have already won the battle and You reign victorious! Reign in our hearts today and rule and shepherd your people as You always have…with mercy as well as justice, I thank you that you came to earth, dwelt among us full of GRACE AND TRUTH and that you have cleansed and bought us with your amzing sacrificial work on the cross!!! I thank you that TODAY You indwell us with Your Holy Spirit! May Your Spirit move and may we follow!

In Jesus’ precious name I pray,
AMEN.

Hi Jill,

We aren't going to see Kutless, although it sounds like fun. DD would probably like to if she had someone to go with and could get the night off from work (just started at Subway). The concert here happens to be the night before her 18th B-Day.

Thanks for the prayer!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TLH....yikes, hope you have better days ahead. I can only imagine how much of a hassle it is to clean up a freezer like that!:eek: EWWWWWW!!!
Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to do some more financial aid stuff for DD...joy.
Listening to Audio A's Adios CD this morning. Good Stuff!
We had a great service yesterday morning and yesterday evening we had a special service winding up our month long True Love Waits with our teens. It was amazing, Pastor (throughout both sermons) used a lot of verses I had posted in a discussion on another thread here.
Hope you all had a good weekend. We had snow on the ground for the first time this year Saturday morning (lasted briefly, was gone by 11:00 AM)
Audio Adrenaline - Hands & Feet
An image flashed across my TV screen
Another broken heart comes in to view
I saw the pain and I turned my back
Why can't I do the things I want to?
I'm willing yet I'm so afraid
You give me strength
When I say
CHORUS:
I want to be Your hands
I want to be Your feet
I'll go where You send me
I'll go where You send me
REPEAT
And I try, yeah I try
To touch the world like You touched my life
And I find my way
To be Your hands
I've abandoned every selfish thought
I've surrendered every thing I've got
You can have everything I am
And perfect everything I'm not
I'm willing, I'm not afraid
You give me strength
When I say
CHORUS
This is the last time
I turned my back on You
From now on, I'll go so
Send me where You want me to
I finally have a mission
I promise I'll complete
I don't need excuses
When I am You hands and feet
Love this song! Goes along with another discussion we were having on a thread last week.
Leaving Ninety-nine - Audio A
I'm lost and broken all alone on this road
The wheels keep turning but the feeling is gone
And I feel I'm on my own
But You remind me that I'm not alone
You say..
I'd leave ninety-nine
Leave them all behind
To find you
(For you alone) I'd leave ninety-nine
Leave them all behind
To find you
It's dark and lonely and the path is unclear
Can't move my feet because I'm frozen in fear
And I feel I'm on my own
But You remind me that I'm not alone
You say..
I'd leave ninety-nine
Leave them all behind
To find you
(For you alone) I'd leave ninety-nine
Leave them all behind
To find you
And lastly for today.......a prayer of my heart
Audio A - Pierced
CHORUS:
Make me
Take me
Break me
I am pierced
Make me
Take me
Break me
I am pierced
I am wounded
And unworthy
I am selfish and untrue
But You are holy
You're the healer
You forgave me
And made me new
You made me new
CHORUS
I am wounded
And unworthy
I am selfish and untrue
But You are holy
You're the healer
You forgave me
And made me new
You made me new
Oh this love how can it be
That my God would die for me
For my sins His wounds did bleed
Jesus You were pierced for me
CHORUS
I am wounded
And unworthy
I am selfish and untrue
But You are holy
You're the healer
You forgave me
And made me new
You made me new
CHORUS
Oh I am wounded and unworthy
So unworthy, I am pierced, I am pierced
Hi everyone! :wave:
We are finally back to "normal routine" today. Everyone is feeling better and we are back to school. DDs are eating lunch now so I had a few moments to sing with you.
This song really ministers to me and is my prayer as we go through this time.
The Potter's Hand
by Darlene Zschech
Beautiful Lord, Wonderful savior
I know for sure all of my days are held in your hands
Crafted into your perfect plan
You gently called me into your presence
Guiding me by Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord to live all of my life
Through your eyes
I'm captured by your holy calling
Set me apart. I know you're drawing me to yourself
Lead me, Lord. I pray
Oh Take me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the potter's hand
Oh Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the potter's hand
You gently call me into your presence
Guiding me by your holy spirit
Teach me dear lord to live all of my life through your eyes
I'm captured by your holy calling
Set me apart. I know you're drawing me to yourself
lead me, Lord. I pray
Oh Take me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the potter's hand
Oh Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the potter's hand
Good morning! We are just about ready to start school this morning.
Before we start our day, though, I wanted to share a wonderful poem with you. I hope that it is ok that it is a poem for me today instead of a song. I am pretty sure that I shared this on the previous thread. However, that was years ago so I hope that you do not mind reading it again.
This poem is written by Beth Moore. I have done almost all of her Bible studies and have been touched by all of them. She is so anointed!!! Her passion for the Lord inspires me! This poem has become like a life verse for me, but I call it my life prayer. The entire poem is my heart's cry. I even have the part of the poem/prayer that burns most within me in my signature.
<<<<<<<<<
The Company I Keep
By Beth Moore
Let me be known by the company I keep
By the One who determines each day that I greet
From the moment I wake ‘til He rocks me to sleep
Let me be known by the company I keep!
Let me be known by the company I keep
When the valleys are low and the mountains are steep
By the One who holds fast when swift waters are deep
Let me be known by the company I keep!
Let me be known by the company I keep
By the One who implores me to sit at His feet
And quickens my soul to discern what is deep
Let me be known by the company I keep!
Let me known by the company I keep
Eclipsed by Your presence that I may decrease
‘Til all You have chosen this traveler to meet
No longer see me but the Company I keep.
In a few weeks we will be celebrating Easter and the Ressurection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This song is in remembrance of that. Enjoy!
Watch the Lamb - Ray Boltz
Walking on the road to Jerusalem,
The time had come to sacrifice again,
My two small sons,
They walk beside me on the road,
The reason that they came
was to watch the lamb.
Daddy, daddy,
What will see there,
There's so much that we don't understand,
So I told them of Moses
and father Abraham,
Then I said dear children watch the lamb,
There will be so many in Jerusalem today,
We must be sure the lamb doesn't run away,
And I told them of Moses
and father Abraham,
Then I said dear children watch the lamb.
When we reached the city,
I knew something must be wrong,
There were no joyful worshipers,
No joyful worship songs,
I stood there with my children
in the midst of angry men,
Then I heard the crowd cry out
Crucify Him.
We tried to leave the city
but we could not get away,
Forced to play in this drama
a part I did not wish to play,
Why upon this day
were men condemned to die,
Why were we standing here,
Where soon they would pass by.
I looked and said, even now they come,
The first one cried for mercy,
The people gave him none,
The second one was violent,
He was arrogant and loud,
I still hear his angry voice
screaming at the crowd,
Then someone said there's Jesus,
I scarce believed my eyes,
A man so badly beaten,
He barely looked alive,
Blood poured from His body,
From the thorns upon His brow,
Running down the cross,
Falling to the ground.
I watched Him as He struggled,
I watched Him as He fell,
The cross came down upon His back,
The crowd began to yell,
In that moment I felt such agony,
In that moment I felt such loss,
Till a Roman soldier grabbed my arm
and screamed, you, carry His cross.
At first I tried to resist him,
Then his hand reached for his sword,
So I knelt and took
the cross from the Lord,
I placed it on my shoulder,
And started down the street,
The blood that he'd been shedding
was running down my cheek.
They led us to Golgotha,
They drove nails
deep in His feet and hands,
Yet upon the cross I heard Him pray
Father, forgive them.
Oh, never have I seen such love
in any other eyes,
Into thy hands I commit my spirit
He prayed and the He died,
I stood for what seemed like years,
I'd lost all sense of time
until I felt two tiny hands
holding tight to mine,
The children stood there weeping,
I heard the oldest say,
Father please forgive us,
the lamb ran away.
Daddy, daddy,
What have we seen here,
There's so much
that we don't understand,
So I took them in my arms,
And we turned and faced the cross,
Then I said dear children
watch the lamb.
