Measure of a Man - 4HIM

This world can analyze and size you up
And throw you on the scales
They can IQ you and run you thorugh
Their rigorous details
They can do their best to rate
And they'll place you on their charts
And then back it up with scientific smarts

But there's more to what you're worth
Than what their human eyes can see

CHORUS
Oh I say the measure of a man
Is not how tall you stand
How wealthy or intelligent you are
'Cause I found out the measure of a man
God knows and understand
For He looks inside to the bottom of your heart
And what's in the heart defines
The measure of a man

Well you can doubt your worth
And search for who you are and where you stand
But God made you in His image
When He formed you in His hands
And He looks at you with mercy
And He sees you through His love
You're His child and that will always be enough

For there's more to what your worth
Than you could ever comprehend

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
You can spend your life persuing physical perfection
But there's so much more than ever meets the eye
For God looks through the surface
And he defines your worth by what is on the inside

REPEAT CHORUS

Listing to Mark Harris album "The Line Between the Two" I don't always listen to all of it, my favorite song on the album is "Find Your Wings" but today the last song on the CD really spoke to me, so I wanted to share.

UNTIL - MARK HARRIS

Is it unfair
To say that You are leading
Then try and face this mountain on my own
Why am I scared
I've never stopped believing
And You have never left me all alone
Well I could get ahead of wher you've led me to
But I will trust Your heart enough to wait for You

CHORUS
Until this mountain moves
Until this path is clear
Until Your voice is the only one that I can hear
Until I see Your hand
Until I know Your heart
Until I trust the grace that's carried me this far
I will be still
Until

How could I
Have never seen this coming
It's not like I've been running
From Your will
Tell me why
Each day's another mystery
Waiting for Your truth to be revealed
I try to tell my heart to trust what I believe
And wait on You through all my uncertainty

REPEAT CHORUS

Be still my heart of worry
Be still my restless soul
Be confident and certain
Be still and know

REPEAT CHORUS

REPEAT CHORUS

** Wow ** Yes Lord I hear You speaking to me through this message in song. When will I learn to let go and let You? Thank You for the grace You continue to show each day when I'm sure you smile and shake Your head waiting for me to give it to You instead of making a bigger mess on my own.

Psalm 46:10a - Be still and know that I am God

i am here to sing today for Larry Norman, whose heart failed on sunday and he went home to be with the lord. larry was a giant in christian music, the father of christian rock, and a tremendous influence on the singers and songwriters that work today. if he had gone without the Jesus lyrics he could have been a rock god, but he was always focused on the true God and now he has the ultimate payoff. if nothing else, i know that he was ready. well done good and faithful servant.

One Way - Larry Norman

*
One way, one way to Heaven, hold up high your hand,

Follow, free and forgiven, Children of the Lamb

Two roads diverged in the middle of my life,

I heard a wise man say,

And I took the one less traveled on,

And that's made the difference, every night and every day.

So I say, one way, one way to Heaven

Hold your head up high,

One way, free and forgiven, children of the sky.

I Am A Servant - Larry Norman

*

I am a servant, I've been listening for my name,

I've been unfaithful, I've been looking at the game,

That I've been playing, and I've been staying much the same,

When you are lonely, you're the only one to blame.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a servant, I've been waiting for your call,

I've been unfaithful, so I sit here in the hall,

How can you use me, when I've never given all,

How can you choose me, when you know I quickly fall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet you feed my soul, and you make me grow,

And you let me know that you love me,

And I'm worthless now, but I've made a vow,

I will humbly bow before thee,

Oh please use me, I am lonely.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a servant, getting ready for my part,

There's been a change, a rearrangement in my heart,

At last I'm learning, there's no returning once I start,

To live's a privilege, to love is such an art,

But I need your help to start,

Oh please purify my heart,

I am your servant.

The Rock That Doesn't Roll - Larry Norman

*

I was lost and blind, till a friend of mine came and took me by the hand,

Then he lead me to His kingdom, which was in another land,

Now my life is changed, it's rearranged,

When I think of my past I feel so strange,

Wowie zowie well he saved my soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

Well He's good for the body and great for the soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was all alone, like a rolling stone,

I was going nowhere fast,

I was on the road so far from home,

When the future touched my past,

Now I feel so blessed, cause he gave me rest,

And I finally feel like I passed the test,

I wanna be like him, yes that's my goal,

Like a rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

Well He's good for the body and great for the soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was lost and blind till a friend of mine came and took me by the hand,

Then he lead me to his kingdom, that was in another land,

Now my mind is blown, my head has grown,

A solid rock ain't a rolling stone,

Wowie zowie, well the cat's got soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

Well He's good for the body and great for the soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

You've to rock me on the water,

You've got to rock me from my grave,

You've got to rock me till I'm feeling good,

You've got to rock me till I'm, rock me till I'm saved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

He's the rock that doesn't roll,

Well He's good for the body and great for the soul,

He's the rock that doesn't roll.

The Sun Began To Rain - Larry Norman

*

A thief fell out of Heaven with some loaded dice,

But the Lamb rolled a seven back to paradise,

The bread was finally leavened so I had a slice,

And the sun began to rain.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Water swelled from fountains and then turned to wine,

Rocks fell from the mountains in a chorus line,

He came in tails and top, and he looked so fine,

Yes the Son began to reign.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

A fox snuck in to steal away the grapes,

But the man who ran The Vineyard shut the gate,

So he could not escape.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now we'll live forever in another land,

Everything is happening like it first was planned,

Did you get your invitation to come play in the band,

And let the Son begin to reign.

I Wish We'd All Been Ready - Larry Norman

*

Life was filled with guns and war,

And everyone got trampled on the floor,

I wish we'd all been ready

Children died, the days grew cold,

A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold,

I wish we'd all been ready,

There's no time to change your mind,

The Son has come and you've been left behind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

A man and wife asleep in bed,

She hears a noise and turns her head, he's gone,

I wish we'd all be ready,

Two men walking up a hill,

One disappears and one's left standing still,

I wish we'd all been ready,

There's no time to change your mind,

The Son has come and you've been left behind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Life was filled with guns and war,

And everyone got trampled on the floor,

I wish we'd all been ready,

Children died, the days grew cold,

A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold,

I wish we'd all been ready,

There's no time to change your mind,

How could you have been so blind,

The Father spoke, the demons dined,

The Son has come and you've been left behind.

farewell larry, you will be missed

Signature of Divine (YAHWEH) - by Need to Breathe

Cathedrals have tried in vain to show the image of Your face
But we are, by Your design, the signature of divine
We'll always sing Your name
Forever and today
Yahweh, Yahweh
Great is Your glory when You go before me
Oh, we sing
Holy, Holy
Your ways are lovely
So high above me
Yahweh
The fortunes of kings and queens are wasted chasing what we've seen
Cause we are, by Your reprieve, the beauty framed by Your suffering
We'll always sing Your name
Forever and today
Yahweh, Yahweh
Great is Your glory when You go before me
Oh, we sing
Holy, Holy
Your ways are lovely
So high above me
Yahweh
Take me and pull me through
Cause I can't move without you
I won't leave you alone, You say
It will be okay
Yahweh, Yahweh
Great is Your glory when You go before me
Oh, we sing
Holy, Holy
Your ways are lovely
So high above me
Yahweh
Ancient of Days
Yahweh

Hi Cristy, I just love this song!!! I got to see the band Need to breathe this last July, when they came to Rapid City, SD for Hills Alive and they are just AWESOME!!!!!! I have both of their CD's too and I got their autographs too!

Hi Jeanne, Jen, Jilly,Michelle and everyone else!:wave2: It's so good to see everyone again! Thanks Jen, for starting up another thread for us!

Alright! I'm glad I found this thread again. :)

I'm going to share one of my all-time favorite songs.

Casting Crowns- Voice of Truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

CHORUS

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

CHORUS

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Two of my favorite songs both from Rich Mullins

Awesome God

When He rolls up His sleeves
He ain't just putting on the ritz
(Our God is an awesome God)
There's thunder in His footsteps
And lightning in His fists
(Our God is an awesome God)
And the Lord wasn't joking
When He kicked 'em out of Eden
It wasn't for no reason
That He shed His blood
His return is very close
And so you better be believing that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

And when the sky was starless
In the void of the night
(Our God is an awesome God)
He spoke into the darkness
And created the light
(Our God is an awesome God)
Judgement and wrath He poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not
Too quickly forgotten that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
(Our God is an awesome God)
He reigns from heaven above
(He reigns from heaven above)
With wisdom, power, and love
(With wisdom, power, and love)
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God

Step by Step

Sometimes the night was beautiful
Sometimes the sky was so far away
Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close
You could touch it but your heart would break
Sometimes the morning came too soon
Sometimes the day could be so hot
There was so much work left to do
But so much You'd already done

Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Sometimes I think of Abraham
How one star he saw had been lit for me
He was a stranger in this land
And I am that, no less than he
And on this road to righteousness
Sometimes the climb can be so steep
I may falter in my steps
But never beyond Your reach

And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days
(Sometimes the night was beautiful)
And I will follow You all of my days

Hi everyone! It's great to see so many posting songs!!!!!

Thanks for all the Larry Norman songs - one of my very favorites is "I Wish We'd All Been Ready"

Love Casting Crowns - I can listen to any of their CD's for hours.

Also a huge Rich Mullins fan - would have loved to had an opportunity to see him in concert - he seemed like such a down to earth guy.

How awesome to see "Need to Breathe". I heard the "Signature of Divine" song and wasn't sure who it was so I had to call my local station and ask......got the CD on my next stop at Lifeway - great tunes!

Here's my favorite Rich Mullins song - Hold Me Jesus

Well, sometimes my life
Just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
And my faith just seems so small

CHORUS:
So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

And I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It's so hot inside my soul
I swear there must be blisters on my heart

CHORUS

Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight You for something
I don't really want
Than to take what You give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls
Now I'm falling down, I'm falling on my knees

And this Salvation Army band
Is playing this hymn
And Your grace rings out so deep
It makes my resistance seem so thin

CHORUS

You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

Hey guys.
I know that I only posted on this thread a few times. I am sorry that I have not been around a lot. However, I would like to join in now.

I am going to post three of my new favorites! Of course, I am like all of you.......there are so many wonderful songs that encourage me! These are just new to me and they have ministered to me so much since I have heard them!!!!
Keith and Kristyn Getty were at our church a few weeks ago. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!! They are so anointed! They call themselves "modern day hymn writers" from Ireland. (Don't let that turn you off. Their songs do not sound ancient or anything. They are just doctrinally/spiritually deep, like hymns.) They stated that their goal is to write music that deepens Christians' faith. Each song is inspired by Scripture. They shared each Scripture before they sang each song. There are three songs on their new CD that minister to me so much! (Though all of the songs on the CD are GREAT!) You guys have probably heard the first one. The other two may be new to you. None of their songs are played on our local Christian radio station yet (They are too new.) but their CD is at Lifeway. I heard this first one at a Beth Moore conference I attended. The others I only heard when the Gettys came to our church and I bought their CD.

Here is the first:

"In Christ Alone"
Words and Music by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend
Copyright © 2001 Kingsway Thankyou Music

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

Here is another favorite from the Gettys.

"Jesus Draw Me Ever Nearer"
Music by Keith Getty; Words by Margaret Becker
Copyright © 2002 Thankyou Music

Jesus draw me ever nearer
As I labour through the storm.
You have called me to this passage,
and I'll follow, though I'm worn.

May this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart's testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.

Jesus guide me through the tempest;
Keep my spirit staid and sure.
When the midnight meets the morning,
Let me love You even more.

Let the treasures of the trial
Form within me as I go -
And at the end of this long passage,
Let me leave them at Your throne.

and my last for today.............
again from the Gettys

Dont Let Me Lose My Wonder

I've seen days melt into nights in circles of lights,
I've watched a spider spin a star between the window box flowers,
I've heard you laugh and cry in a single sigh,
And a story form within.

(Chorus)
Don't let me lose my wonder,
Don't let me lose my wonder.

I saw her broken dreams inside but helping others fly,
I saw his eyes without a doubt though other lights faded out,
And though her calling roared, such graciousness poured
From the vision of her soul.

A baby cried through the dark beneath a jeweled spark,
I knew Your voice upon the hill and heard my lostness still,
I found my home in the light where wrong was made right
And You rose as the morning star.

Great songs TLHB70!

Have any of you heard of Dan Smith or seen the Baby Got Book video on Godtube or Youtube? I'll try and post the link. This guy is so funny!!! I had to order his DVD. Not exactly what you will probably hear on Sunday morning but we played it for our youth group one Wednesday night and it was great. He also has a remake of YMCA that is Why Don't We Pray. Check him out!

I'm a HUGE David Crowder Band fan -- a couple of my favorites:

Here Is Our King

From wherever spring arrives to heal the ground
From wherever searching comes
(The look itself a trace of what we’re looking for)
So be quiet now...and wait
The ocean is growing
The tide is coming in
Here it is...

Here is our King
Here is our love
Here is our God who’s come
To bring us back to Him
He is the One
He is Jesus

And what was said to the rose
To make it unfold
Was said to me here in my chest
So be quiet now...and rest
The ocean is growing
The tide is coming in
Here it is...

Majesty...
Finally...
Here

Oh Praise Him

Turn your ear
To Heaven and hear
The noise inside
The sound of angels
The sound of angel's songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
"All to Christ the King!"

How constant
How divine
This song of ours will rise
Oh, how constant
How divine
This love of ours will rise
Will rise...

CHORUS:
O praise Him!
O praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy, yeah!

Turn your gaze
To Heaven and raise
A joyous noise
Oh, the sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a king
Angles join to sing
"All for Christ the King!"

CHORUS [2x]

Oh la la la la la...

O pra-ise Him!
O pra-ise Him!
He is Ho-ly!
He is Ho-ly!

How infininte and sweet
This love so rescuing
Oh how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing...

"Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
He is Ho-ly!
He is Ho-ly!" [2x]

O pra-ise Him!
O pra-ise Him!
He is Ho-ly!
He is Ho-ly!

Oh, La la la la la la...

"Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
He is Ho-ly!
He is Ho-ly!"

O pra-ise Him!
O pra-ise Him!
He is Ho-ly!
He is Ho-ly!

Oh la la la la la la...

Good morning everyone!

I want to start out the day worshiping our wonderful Savior with you.

Wonderful, Merciful Saviour
Wonderful mericiful Savior
Precious redeemer and friend
Who would have thought that a lamb could
Rescue the souls of men, Oh You rescue the souls of men

Counselor, comforter, keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost the way, Oh we hopelessly lost the way

You are the One that we praise
You are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace our
Hearts always hunger for, Oh our hearts always hunger for

Almighty infinite father
Faithfully loving Your own
Herein our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne, Oh we're falling before Your throne
