Christian Music Thread

Maybe someone here can help me with this song I loved and I used to HEAR IT ALL THE TIME!!!! Even on popular secular radio stations. It was aired I'm guessing about 9 months ago.

I believe it's a black choir group and the lead of a black man singer. The music was so fun and upbeat, reminds me of the popular Cha Cha slide song.

The main lyric is "Jesus You are", repeatedly over.

If anyone saw the recent Eddie Murphy movie Norbitt, it was the closing credit song.

I really want this song downloaded.

Can anyone help me please? Who sang it and what's the title.

In a few weeks we will be celebrating Easter and the Ressurection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This song is in remembrance of that. Enjoy!

Watch the Lamb - Ray Boltz

Oh, this is such a tremendous song! Thank you for reminding me of it.

I went to a Ray Boltz concert once. Talk about a powerful night! All of his songs are beautiful!

I am sorry that I cannot help you with this. I did not see the movie, and I cannot think of a song like this just now. If I do happen to hear it or think of one like this I will definitely let you know.

The song you are looking for is called "Looking for You", by Kirk Franklin and I put the lyrics and a video clip below. From what I hear Kirk Franklin has quite a conversion story but I don't know enough about him yet. I do intend to find out more because I have a student who wants to do a project on him.

I did not see Norbit. I will often go by what PLUGGED IN has to say about movies and artists (not always)and such and here is a link to their review of Norbit. http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0003077.cfm They seemed to think that the music was the most redeeming thing about the movie.

The song is very cool. I haven't had a chance to watch the whole video yet.

Looking For You/KIRK FRANKLIN

I've been down so long,
I've been hurt for so long,
There were times I thought I would never so the break of day.
It was hard for me,to see your plan for me
And I tried to believe surely it won't last always
But night after night, (Night after night, Night after night)
I pray Lord don't take your joy from me
Then late one night I read in your love letter that it's gunna get betta

[Chorus:]
Don't chea know that
I've been looking for you
I realized that nothing else will satisfy me
I'm so glad I found you
Now that I'm changed no one can keep me away from you

And my enimies, tried to come for me
And they thought that my world was comin to an end
All the while you knew
That I would make it throgh
I seem closer than I was when I first began
Jesus you are, (Jesus you are, Jesus you are)
You are my sun right after the rain
Wherever you are
I just wanna be near you
I'm so glad I can hear you

[Chorus 2x]

Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh

Jesus you are, (Jesus you are, Jesus you are)
You are my sun right after the rain
Wherever you are
I just wanna be near you
I so glad i found you
[Chorus 2x]

Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)

CLEAN/Petra

You may see me stumble, you may see might fall
You may see me cornered with my back against the wall
Maybe incognito, maybe out to lunch
Maybe caught red-handed or maybe just a hunch

(Chorus)
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
Like a spotless lamb, I'm blameless in His sight
With no trace of wrong left to right
I'm clean, clean, clean

Kneeling in the closet begging daily bread
There may be a skeleton hanging overhead
Where are my accusers, nowhere to be found
They all dropped their stones when the Master came around

(Chorus)
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
Like a spotless lamb, I'm blameless in His sight
With no trace of wrong left to right
I'm clean, clean, clean

I've missed the mark I can't deny it
I don't condone or justify it
But I've done nothing that His blood can't wash away
When I take it to the cross and start to pray

Hey, I'm talking to you!
Hey. He's gonna see me through!

(Chorus)
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
I'm clean, clean, clean before my Lord
Like a spotless lamb, I'm blameless in His sight
With no trace of wrong left to right
I'm clean, clean, clean

CLEAN/Petra

:teeth:
I am sitting here with a big smile on my face!!!!! :teeth: :teeth:

Petra was such a favorite band of mine!!!!!!!!! I still love their music. It really helped encourage me through many times!!!!!!!!

Here is another of their songs that I love! As a matter of fact, I was singing this song just last week. My DDs had never heard it so I pulled out an old Petra cassette and played it for them. They were amazed that I still had it. They laughed at me because all of the letters are worn off of the cassette. I still know where to find the songs, though. ;)

More Power to Ya
By Petra
Isaiah 40:31

You say you've been feeling weaker, weaker by the day
You say you can't make the joy of your salvation stay
But good things come to them that wait,
Not to those who hesitate,
So hurry up and wait upon the Lord

(chorus)
More power to ya
When you're standing on His Word,
When you're trusting with your whole heart in the message you have heard
More power to ya
When we're all in one accord,
They that wait upon the Lord, they shall renew,
They shall renew their strength.

Jesus promised His disciples He'd give strength to them
Jesus told them all to tarry in Jerusalem
When they were all in one accord
The power of His Spirit poured,
And they began to turn the world around

So be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might
Put on all His armor and fight the good fight
In all of our weakness He becomes so strong
And He gives us the power and the strength to carry on

Hi everyone!
Things have been pretty rough here today. After cleaning the meat out of the freezer, cleaning the freezer, and getting the yucky stuff off of the garage floor, we finally made it to bed around 11 PM. My youngest DD woke up just before 3 AM with a stomach virus. She has been sick today. :guilty:
I pray that the rest of us will not come down with this virus.

So...............here is my song for today.

King Of the Jungle
Psalm 24:1, Psalm 46, Psalm 47:7-8
Steven Curtis Chapman

Well the day has just begun and I'm already running late
With too many irons in the fire and too much on my plate
I'd be pulling out my hair if I could just get one hand free
And I'd stop this world if I could find the key

CHORUS
What I feel is telling me I'm going crazy, but
What is real says God's still on His throne
What I need is to remember one thing
That the Lord of the gentle breeze is Lord of the rough and tumble
And He is King of the Jungle

People say this world's a jungle and sometimes I must admit
I'd be scared to death if I did not know who was king of it
But the truth is God created this whole world with His own hand
So everything is under His command

(Chorus)

K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
He is the king of creation
K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
Ruler of the earth and sky and the sea
K-I-N-G of the J-U-N-G-L-E
He's always in control
He is the King of kings

(Chorus)

(Chorus)

Hemi-mom --- that's it, that's it, that's it!!!!! Thank you for posting the video and words. I love that song.

About 9 months ago, everytime I start the car and put on the radio station, that song was on and I lOVED it.

I want to jog with it on my MP3 player.

I have my server on AOL too and I gotta learn the music/video part of it.

I'm so clueless with computers.

Thank you again.

Thanks for this thread. These songs are awesome!

Here is my current favorite, by Avalon:

Where Joy and Sorrow Meet

There's a place of quiet stillness 'tween the light and shadows' reach
Where the hurting and the hopeless seek everlasting peace.
Words of men and songs of angels whisper comfort bittersweet
Mending grief and life eternal where joy and sorrow meet.

There is a place where hope remains
In crowns of thorns and crimson stains
And tears that fall on Jesus' feet
Where joy and sorrow meet.

There's a place the lost surrender and the weary will retreat
Full of grace and mercy tender in times of unbelief.
For the wounded, there is healing. Strength is given to the weak.
Broken hearts find love redeeming where joy and sorrow meet.

There is a place where hope remains
In crowns of thorns and crimson stains
And tears that fall on Jesus' feet
Where joy and sorrow meet.

There's a place of thirst and hunger where the roots of faith grow deep
And there is rain and rolling thunder when the road is rough and steep.
There is hope in desperation, there is victory in defeat
At the cross of restoration where joy and sorrow meet.

There is a place where hope remains
In crowns of thorns and crimson stains.
And tears that fall at Jesus' feet
Where joy and sorrow meet.

I have not read the entire thread - so excuse me if this one has already been posted - but in light of Easter coming soon...

Why - Nichole Nordeman

We rode into town the other day
Just me and my Daddy
He said I'd finally reached that age
And I could ride next to him on a horse
That of course was not quite as wide

We heard a crowd of people shouting
And so we stopped to find out why
And there was that man
That my dad said he loved
But today there was fear in his eyes

So I said "Daddy, why are they screaming?
Why are the faces of some of them beaming?
Why is He dressed in that bright purple robe?
I'll bet that crown hurts Him more than He shows
Daddy, please can't you do something?
He looks as though He's gonna cry
you said he was stronger than all of those guys
addy, please tell me why
Why does everyone want him to die?"

Later that day the sky grew cloudy
And Daddy said I should go inside
Somehow he knew things would get stormy
Boy was he right
But I could not keep from wondering
If there was something he had to hide

So after he left I had to find out
I was not afraid of getting lost
So I followed the crowds
To a hill where I knew men had been killed
And I heard a voice come from the cross

And it said, "Father, why are they screaming?
Why are the faces of some of them beaming?
Why are they casting their lots for My robe?
This crown of thorns hurts Me more than it shows
Father, please can't You do something?
I know that You must hear My cry
I thought I could handle the cross of this size
Father, remind Me why
Why does everyone want Me to die?
When will I understand why?"

"My precious Son, I hear them screaming
I'm watching the face of the enemy beaming
But soon I will clothe You in robes of My own
Jesus, this hurts Me much more than You know
But this dark hour I must do nothing
Though I've heard Your unbearable cry
The power in Your blood destroys all of the lies
Soon You'll see past their unmerciful eyes
Look there below, see the child
Trembling by her father's side
Now I can tell You why
She is why You must die"

Good morning everyone!
It is Friday!!!!!!! :yay:

Here is my worship song for today. I just want to thank Him!!!!!!

Thank You
by Katinas
album: Destiny (2001)

Just a little while longer I wanna pray
Can't get You off my mind so I came to say
Thank You Lord, just for loving me, alright
Many times I do forget
Every need that You have met
Oh thank You Lord, I know You're showing me
You are there when I am down and out
You're holding me, Your love is so amazing
Oh it changed me

CHORUS
Here I am with all I have
Raise my hands to worship You
I wanna say thank you, oh thank you
For everything, for who You are
You cover me, You touch my heart
I wanna say thank you

I could have died in my sin but You saved me
Didn't have any hope at all
You gave me peace divine, strength to carry on
I should have been the one to pay
But instead You took my place
Amazing grace, it's more than just a song
Even though I don't deserve Your love for me
You look beyond my fault and You showed me mercy

CHORUS

I wanna say thank you for the sun
Lord we thank you for the rain
Thank you for the love You gave

CHORUS

When You Are A Soldier
By Steven Curtis Chapman

When you are a soldier I will be your shield
I will go with you into the battlefield
And when the arrows start to fly
Take my hand and hold on tight
I will be your shield, 'cause I know how it feels
When you are a soldier

When you're tired from running
I will cheer you on
Look beside you and you'll see you're not alone
And when your strength is all but gone
I'll carry you until you're strong
And I will be your shield 'cause I know how it feels
When you're a soldier

I will be the one you can cry your songs to
My eyes will share your tears
And I'll be your friend if you win
Or if you're defeated
Whenever you need me I will be here

When you're lost in darkness I will hold the light
I will help you find your way through the night
I'll remind you of the truth
And keep the flame alive in you
And I will be your shield
'Cause I know how it feels
When you are a soldier

You are welcome. The first time I heard it was at an annual memorial service for one of our hospice agencies that I sang for. I sang "Redeemer" by Nicole Mullen (which was posted upthread, IIRC) and a man sang this song. It was SO powerful; I don't think I've ever been "grabbed" by a song like this one. Afterward, I asked him who performed it so I could buy the track, and he just gave it to me. I've sung it for several families at the nursing home where I work, as their loved one was dying. It's simply amazing.

I'm glad to know it touched someone else!

Oh wow! You Tube has many Petra songs and videos. Talk about bringing me back to some special memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am singing loudly now..............and crying watching the Hollow Eyes video!

Thanks TLH. I have GOT to post the lyrics to this one...LOVE IT!

GRAVE ROBBER/Petra

There's a step that we all take alone
An appointment we have with the great unknown
Like a vapor this life is just waiting to pass
Like the flowers that fade, like the withering grass
But life seems so long and death so complete
And the grave an impossible potion to cheat
But there's One who has been there and still lives to tell
There is One who has been through both heaven and hell
And the grave will come up empty-handed the day
Jesus will come and steal us away

Where is the sting, tell me where is the bite
When the grave robber comes like a thief in the night
Where is the victory, where is the prize
When the grave robber comes
And death finally dies

Many still mourn and many still weep
For those that the love who have fallen asleep
But we have this hope though our hearts may still ache
Just one shout from above and they all will awake
And in the reunion of joy we will see
Death will be swallowed in sweet victory

Where is the sting, tell me where is the bite
When the grave robber comes like a thief in the night
Where is the victory, where is the prize
When the grave robber comes
And death finally dies

When the last enemy is done from the dust will come a song
Those asleep will be awakened - not a one will be forsakened
He shall wipe away our tears - He will steal away our fears
There will be no sad tomorrow - there will be no pain and sorrow

Where is the sting, tell me where is the bite
When the grave robber comes like a thief in the night
Where is the victory, where is the prize
When the grave robber comes
And death finally dies

I loved this song too! Thanks for posting Holly. It reminds me of a Kate Miner song we do in worship because of the one line in Kate's song, "Joy and sorrow deeply mingled, YES! the glory of the cross!"

JESUS YOU ARE HOLY/Kate Miner

Jesus, You are Holy
You are glorious, You are worthy of all praise, all praise
Jesus You are Holy
You are glorious You are worthy of all praise
All praise, all of my praise, all of my praise

You have seem me in the darkness
You have covered me with light
Rescued me from sin and fire
Behold Your glory now in sight!

Jesus, You are Holy
You are glorious, You are worthy of all praise, all praise
Jesus You are Holy
You are glorious You are worthy of all praise
All praise, all of my praise, all of my praise

You have taken my disease
And You have healed me with Your blood
Joy and sorrow deeply mingled, YES! the glroy of the cross!

Jesus, You are Holy
You are glorious, You are worthy of all praise, all praise
Jesus You are Holy
You are glorious You are worthy of all praise
All praise, all of my praise, all of my praise

YOU HAVE TAKEN MY DISEASE AND YOU HAVE HEALED ME WITH YOUR BLOOD,
JOY AND SORROW DEEPLY MINGLED, YES! THE GLORY OF THE CROSS!
