Christian Music Thread

Just found this thread and haven't read much but the first post.

My mil died Thursday, she has been in hospice care in our home since Jan. My husband is a pastor and she wanted him to do her funeral. Please pray for us today (Sunday) and tomorrow, the funeral service.

I'm going to go ahead and subscribe to this forum so I can take time to look at more of what y'all have written.

I just prayed for you and your family. I pray that God's presence will overwhelm you today and that He will give you comfort and peace as only He can give.

I'm also curious, does anyone have any favourite Christian books to share? I just finished Come Thirsty and In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado and loved them! I would highly recommend them, I love his writing style- it is so engaging. Next I'm starting Traveling Light, also by Lucado.

I, too, like Max Lucado's writing.
Some of my favorites are Beth Moore ( http://www.lproof.org/), Kay Arthur ( http://www.precept.org/site/PageServer ), and Jennifer Rothschild (http://jenniferrothschild.com/ ). I read anything that I can get my hands on from those three authors!
I just finished Beth Moore's Bible study on Esther. It was wonderful! :thumbsup2

Sanctus Real - Lead Me

I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying

"Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone."

I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying

"Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone."

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I am called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't you lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love
Chasing dreams that I could give up

I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this out home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Christian lyrics - LEAD ME LYRICS - SANCTUS REAL

Another new favorite - Lord don't let me get so caught up in the life that I miss the glory of the works of Your hands on display before me on a daily basis.

Gordon Mote - Don't Let Me Miss the Glory

Don't Let Me Miss The Glory

VERSE 1
In the view from the mountains
There's a story to be told
In the crashing of the ocean
There's a power that no man will ever hold

All the stars in the Heavens
Decorate Your handiwork
And like a mighty choir
They've come to celebrate Your worth

CHORUS
Don't let me miss the glory
Don't let me miss the grace
All creation is singing
To the honor of Your name

Don't let me miss the wonder
Don't let me miss the grand design
And the lightning and the thunder
Lord open up my eyes
Don't let me miss the glory

VERSE 2
In the cry of a baby
In the laughter of love
In the dance of the faithful
you will find the greatness of our God above

In the prayer of the righteous
In the beauty of Your grace
In a brand new morning's mercy
All your memories of my sin have been erased

REPEAT CHORUS TWICE

Don't let me miss the glory

I had never heard this song before you posted it. AWESOME! Thank you for sharing it. I am going to buy it now if iTunes has it!
I just looked up the singer online. He is blind. Wow!

oh my gosh, ya'll. This fall is gonna be huge with new music. There are a ton of new albums coming out!!

Jars of Clay, Third Day and 33Miles for sure all have stuff releasing in October, and they've all put out singles and some snippets of new music to listen to!

Jars of Clay has "The Shelter" and it's an album full of collaborations. Last week, they were streaming the entire thing and it's just unbelievable. They're featuring people like Mac Powell of Third Day, TobyMac, Derek Webb, Brandon Heath, Sara Groves as well as some newer artists... it's really awesome!! Their newest single is "Out of My Hands"

Third Day is releasing "Move" and it's all things classic Third Day.. good southern rock, great lyrics... The band has posted snippets on Twitter and Facebook to give listens, and their first single is "Lift Up Your Face" and it's oh so good too!!

and, 33Miles.. they're my new favorites, my underdogs in the fight.. They've got "Today" coming out. Their first single is "Where I Wanna Go" and it's a great ballad..... You can pre-order their album at their website (www.33milesonline.com) and can get 2 more songs, which I did.. and I LOVE the singles.. Those are "What Grace Looks Like" and it's a great pop tune, guitar driven! YAY! Also, "Hold Me Up" is another great ballad. (I'm so not good at reviewing stuff, but seriously..)

This is totally random, but this is what I'm listening to right now.. 5 singles, all of them on repeat... If you're lookin' for new music, there's some stuff, and October is gonna be JAM PACKED full of goodness!!

Hubby started a new position at WBFJ last night! He is co-hosting Crossroads Radio from 10-midnight on Fridays!!

YEA!!!!!

I heard "Lift Up Your Face" by Third Day just the other day. Our local station played it. It was great!

Hello! I just found this thread! I'm Nina, age 28. DH and I are expecting our first child in January. I accepted Christ when I was 13 at Centrefudge Camp. I grew up with my dad singing in a bluegrass/gospel band. It was a great experience going around the South to different churchs and events and hearing my dad sing!

I'm a bit odd when it comes to Christian music. I love the old stuff! Keith Green and Don Fransisco are the greatest singers/songwriters ever! :goodvibes Most younger people these days haven't even heard of them, and that is a shame.

My faves from Keith Green are If You Love the Lord, So You Wanna Go Back to Eygpt, The Prodigal Son, Stained Glass, Pledge My Head to Heaven, I Just Wanna See You There.

My faves of Don Fransicso are Gotta Tell Somebody, The Traveler, Beautiful to Me, Steeple Song, Love Is Not a Feeling, The Package, He's Alive.

Congrats on the first baby coming. I just found out that grandchild #9 is on the way.

I think Keith Green is very relevant to your generation. His message is just as vital today as it was 35 years ago. His music is still played on our local Christian radio stations. Same, to slightly lesser degree, for Don Fransisco.

Years ago Evie came out with an album called Restoration which also has a message that the church today needs to hear. I wanted to listen to it a few months ago and discovered that someone returned an empty album cover to me.

But this old grey-haired grammie also likes Casting Crowns and Mercy Me and Chris Rice and Chris Tomlin and Big Daddy Weave . . .

I, too, love Steve Green's music. My favorite of his music is Search Me, Oh God. I have tried to get it from iTunes, but they do not carry it. :guilty: Hopefully one day they will get it. The words are so powerful!
My husband LOVES Bluegrass and Southern Gospel music. I really like Southern Gospel, too. Bluegrass is starting to grow on me. We listen to it every Sunday morning on the way to church.
I went to Centrifuge several summers when I was in youth! My favorite was in Glorieta, New Mexico!
Welcome to our thread, and CONGRATULATIONS on your baby!!!!!!!! :yay::thumbsup2

Steve Green is very different from Keith Green! Very!

:rotfl: Yes, you are right. They are very different! I misread it; I truly thought it said Steve Green. Sorry. :flower3:
I do like Keith Green's "Your Love Broke Through." I think it is a beautiful song! I also love Debby Boone's version of it. I bought that record album many, many years ago.

Good morning all!!!!! Here is a beautiful song from Selah

Selah - You Deliver Me

Deep as the ocean bright as rain
This powerful emotion lifts me up above the plains
It's taken me to places i never thought i'd go
Showing me a grace i never thought i'd know

When i feel like i can't go on
You deliver me
When the road is winding and way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

I feel like a sinner my sins have been washed clean
I'm absolutely given this heart has never seen
I must be forgiven sometimes asking why
I was chosen to be given you in this life

When i feel like i can't go on
You deliver me
When the road is winding and way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

When there's a distance
Between what i am and who i want to be
You deliver me

When i feel like i can't go on
You deliver me
When the road is winding and way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

When i feel like i can't go on
You deliver me
When the road is winding and way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me
