Christian Music Thread

:sad1:

Thank you all for your prayers. Sorry to hear of the others' too, and will pray for them.

DD is bettter, and now has a *seeking heart* for *the one*. Pray with me please that the Lord brings someone new into her life, even if for the sole purpose to see there ARE other guys out there. I will pray that for the others here too!

Also praying for oldest son's GF and her family. Sharing them with the *in-laws* is tricky, and there are unique circumstances with this family :headache: so really appreciate your prayers!!!

BTW, is there a prayer thread here? Or somewhere y'all visit? Sometimes its difficult sharing with even dear friends when living in a small town, and there are no secrets :sad2:

So glad to hear your DD is doing better. I will add her to my prayer list!

I would love to see a prayer thread on the DIS but I'm not sure if it would be against the rules or not... There are some intercessory prayer ministries out there that are anonymous and have a network of people who will pray for your specific needs for a specified amount of time. A few that I know of:

Here are two places. One is a thread. The other is another section on the DIS as coping and compassion.

We used to have a lot of good discussions here on the DIS and even some good debates, lots of different opinions and views were discussed and I really enjoyed them. But then they started getting really ugly and heated and people couldn't play nice and just discuss (it's okay not to agree IMO, but respectfully disagree - people can have intelligent conversations & debates without name calling, etc - but not on the DIS). It got so bad that there is a rule now against religous topics. I'm surprised sometimes that we are still allowed to have this thread.

I really miss the old DIS, check in here almost daily but don't spend near the time here that I used to.

Thank you for posting those links!! I never knew about them before.

I know she's not a Christian artist, and I'm sorry if this has been posted before but has anyone heard Taylor Swift's "Christmas Must Be Something More" song? I love it! It's definitely a great song to expose to young girls and teens in your life, IMO.

What if ribbons and bows didn't mean a thing
Would the song stil survive without 5 golden rings
Would you still wanna kiss without mistletoe
What would happen if God never let it snow
What would happen if Christmas Carols told a lie
Tell me what you would find

You'd say that today holds something special
Something holy and not superficial
So here's to the birthday boy who saved our lives
It's something we all try to ignore
And put a wreath up on your door
So here's something you should know that is for sure
Christmas must be something more

What if angels did not pay attention to
All the things that we wish they would always do
What if happiness came in a cardboard box
Then I'd think there was somethingwe all forgot
What would happenif presents all went away
Tell me what would you find

You'd say that today holds something special
Something holy and not superficial
So here's to the birthday boy who saved our lives
It's something we all try to ignore
And put a wreath up on your door
So here's something you should know that is for sure
Christmas must be something more

We get so caught up in all of it
Business and relationships
100 mile an hour lives
And it's this time of year
And everybody's here
It seems the last thing on your mind

You'd say that today holds something special
Something holy and not superficial
So here's to Jesus Christ who saved our lives
It's something we all try to ignore
And put a wreath up on your door
So here's something you should know that is for sure
Christmas must be something
Christmas must be something
Christmas must be something more
There's gotta be more
There's gotta be more

Beautiful but very touching (sad) Christmas song by Matthew West

Do a search on Youtube for the official video (have tissue handy).

One Last Christmas Lyrics by Matthew West

It’s the news that no one hopes for,
Every parent's greatest fear
Finding out the child you love so much
Might not make it through the year
Now the thought of spending Christmas
Without him just feels wrong
They’ve been praying for a miracle,
Now they're praying he can just hold on

Chorus:
For one last Christmas, one last time,
One last season when the world is right,
One more telling of the story,
One more verse of Silent Night,
They’d give anything so he could have
One last Christmas.

Middle of September
Still seventy degrees
Daddy climbs up in the attic
Brings down candles
Hangs the lights on all the trees,
Then the neighbors started asking
And pretty soon word got around
First it was the neighborhood,
Before too long they lit up that whole town.

Chorus:
For one last Christmas, one last time,
One last season when the world is right,
One more telling of the story,
One more verse of Silent Night,
They’d give anything so he could have
One last Christmas.

Twenty-seventh of October,
His time was wearing thin
Friends and family, even strangers
That they didn’t know brought presents in
He was weak but he was smiling
Like there was nothing even wrong
They said he wouldn’t make it,
Looks like he got to see it after all

Chorus:
For one last Christmas, one last time,
One last season when the world is right,
One more telling of the story,
One more verse of Silent Night,
They’d give anything so he could have
One last Christmas.

Thanks for sharing that song and video on youtube.
It was precious and very sad at the same time. Makes me so thankful for my children and family. If you haven't watched it yet you should. I like Matthew West as well. Good song.

I posted the song to my FB a few days ago with a tissue alert. All my friends refused to watch it because of that. It is such a good video. Something else about Matthew West. A local radio station's dj's daughter made a video to one of his songs, they posted it on the radio station website, and Matthew West called her to tell her he thought the video was excellent. Pretty cool, imo, for a performer to take the time to do that, to actually care enough to do that.

Our pastor's wife sang this song yesterday morning during worship service. It was my first time to hear it. The words are AMAZING! I was so happy to see that iTunes has it. This is such a beautiful song! I hope it blesses you the same way it did me!

All I Have is Christ
by Jordan Kauflin

I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave.
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will.
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still.

But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross.
And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace.

Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me.
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose.
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You.

I was curious if any of you have ever done the Downpour Bible study. Our pastor told us about it last night. He is hoping that our church can do it in small groups. He read a bit from it, and it was great. I am considering buying it over the weekend to get started on it soon. Do any of you have feedback on it?

Here is a song that our pastor shared after he read from the Downpour book. I think the song leader from the study wrote it or it came out of the study.....something like that. It is a great song!

Good and Faithful Friend
by Andi Rozier

It's time to make a change and turn my life around
Press on toward the blood stained cross where purity is found
You lift me from the mire into the whitest snow
How can it be with all my sin a King would lead me home

Though I keep falling
You still keep calling out my name
Then embrace me once again
What a good and faithful friend
I know You're grieving
And that's why I'm leaving sin behind
For the grace I'll always find
From my good and faithful friend

Lord, open up my eyes to see what You have seen
I ask for Your forgiveness where forgiveness has not been
So rejoice my soul, rejoice, the power of sin has gone
Your mercy brought me to this place and Your grace will lead me on

Though I keep falling
You still keep calling out my name
Then embrace me once again
What a good and faithful friend
I know You're grieving
And that's why I'm leaving sin behind
For the grace I'll always find
From my good and faithful friend

There was a short poem in my devotional this morning that I thought I would share. It is a good one so I wanted to pass it on.

Count Your Blessings
Author Unknown

Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.

Great free song on Amazon.com under mp3....

Dave Barnes - God gave me you

Such a beautiful song!!!!!! Even without facing a crisis such as this, shouldn't our goal each day be to show our children what it means to be loved......really loved......unconditionally......just like God loves each of us.

What It Means To Be Loved / Mark Schultz

For five months and eight days my wife and I had waited
Gettin' ready for our baby girl
But when he called the doctor said I need to see you
And could you come in soon
Then something died inside of me to sit with him and hear
The tests that said our baby may not live to be a year
Then turnin' to my wife and he said "whata you wanna do?"
And she said...

I wanna give her the world
I wanna hold her hand
I wanna be her mom for as long as I can
And I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved

So we spent each day, watchin' every minute
And prayin' for our baby girl
And I will not forget the way I felt that moment
When she came into this world
But they took her from the room just as soon as she was born
And watchin' through a window I could see her holdin' on
When a voice inside me said...

I wanna give her the world
I wanna be her dad
I wanna hold her close for as long as I can
And I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved

I said everyday
We've got to bring her home
She's been out to prove the doctors wrong
Oh and you should see her now
She's as pretty as her mom
And theres a boy at the front door waiting just to take her to her high school prom...

And he wants to give her the world
Wants to hold her hand
And someday she may get a wedding band
But she's gunna live every moment until that day comes
And we're gunna show her what it means to be loved

Oh yeah (what it means to be loved)

Show her what it means to be loved
What it means to be loved

Great song....thanks for sharing.
Love this thread.
