Christian Music Thread

I saw Letters to God a few weeks ago. Our church had a screening. My pastor was supposed to be in it, but they cut his scene. He's in the end credits though when they have the pictures of people affected by cancer. Bring a box of kleenex if you're going to go see it. I really liked the girl that played his friend. She was really good.

My pastor also wrote the book, "Hope is contagious" that goes along with the movie. It's a really good read. Very inspirational!

I'm off to see the Newsboys this week. Woohoo! My first time ever seeing them.

I love the Newsboys and I really hope to see them live sometime. They're one of my favourite Christian artists.:thumbsup2

I haven't seen Letters to God yet but I am hoping to this weekend! Just have to check and see if it's playing at any nearby theaters. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The Newsboys totally, unequivocally, ROCK THE HOUSE! I can't wait to see them. I was able to score front row tix too. Woohoo! Duncan up close...:banana::banana:

Hopefully you can find Letters to God. It's actually playing in my town. I wasn't expecting that... Wow. I am a little disappointed in that they really took a lot of liberties with the story. It actually was a father/son in real life. That's part of the reason my pastor's part was cut. He was supposed to have been counseling the boy (my pastor is battling prostate cancer currently) and the father I think was sad because it was like why is another man stepping in to do my job? I honestly would have liked to have seen it with the male lead. It's not often these days that you see a good, nurturing dad in the movies.

Just wanted to thank you all for this thread. I really needed to see it because I've been very discouraged lately, very blue as its just been one thing after another. Sometimes I don't even recognize my life anymore.
I love reading some of the lyrics and they have really uplifted me. Its amazing how God uses people and cyberspace for his purposes. Its also amazing how life can just be going so wonderfully and then bam, something happens. Just trusting that it will all get better, ya gotta have hope. And I do wonder how people manage who don't have it, since its so difficult sometimes with it. Okay, well thanks again y'all and blessings to you.

 I'm glad you found this thread and just wanted to say welcome and hang in there! The lyrics truely are uplifting and I like to look for the songs on youtube with lyrics, usually have some beautiful scenes as you listen. I realized recently that since I lost my mom to cancer in January 2009 that I have just been coasting through life. Still going and doing all the things that need to be done but not really living......seems more like just going through the motions. The songs remind me that I'm not alone in this journey.

Hugs to you, too. Yes, that pretty much describes life here also, but for different reasons. Its amazing how many Christians are like this lately. Its a true battle.... Even with what we know and believe and He who we are trusting. I will pray for you, please pray for me. Thanks so much.

Looks like a beautiful movie, TLHB, and the song, what a nice song. Thanks.

Glad you liked the song. It is beautiful. I hope you will get the chance to see the movie.

I just prayed for you.
These words from a song Cristy posted recently (page before this) came to my mind after reading your post.

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

From one simple life to another,
I will say,
Come find peace in the Father,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
Thank God for each day,
His love will find a way,
These are the words I would say

Here is another awesome song that helps encourage me when I am down. I have played it over and over again on many days. The words are taken from Psalm 3.

Thou, Oh Lord
by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Many are they increased that troubled me
Many are they that rise up against me
Many there be which say of my soul
There is no help for him in God

But Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head

Repeat

I cried unto the Lord with my voice
And he heard me out of His holy hill
I laid me down and slept and awaked
For the Lord sustained, for he sustained me

Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Thou, oh Lord are shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head

Repeat Twice
For Thou oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Of my head
My head

***I just watched the video and listened to it again. I got chills all over again! It is a blessing just watching the choir members sing it, too. It is wonderful watching them lifting their hands in praise as they sing. I love watching them worship like that as they sing the words.

Here's the one that gets me thru tough times:

Phillips, Craig and Dean
Mercy Came Running

Once there was a holy place
Evidence of God's embrace
And I can almost see mercy's face
Pressed against the veil

Looking down with longing eyes
Mercy must have realized
That once His blood was sacrificed
Freedom would prevail

And as the sky grew dark
And the earth began to shake
With justice no longer in the way

Chorus:
Mercy came running
Like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried
Was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
Mercy came running to me

Once there was a broken heart
Way to human from the start
And all the years left it torn apart
Hopeless and afraid

Walls I never meant to build
Left this prisoner unfulfilled
Freedom called but even still
It seemed so far away

I was bound by the chains
From the wages of my sin
Just when I felt like giving in

[repeat chorus]

Sometimes I still feel so far
So far from where I really should be
He gently calls to my heart
Just to remind me

[repeat chorus]

Well, Tinatark, I thought about you, and the post I previously made to you, last night as I watched Tim Tebow get drafted at spot #25.. I was really hoping our Panthers would get him, but I am so happy he went to Denver. They are a great team, and I really like their coach. I was just so happy to see him drafted in the first round! I was happy to see God show, once again, that all things are possible with HIM! All of the football experts expected Clausen, and probably even McCoy, to go before Tebow. It was funny to watch them stammer and stutter when Tebow went before them. The experts were surprised and did not think it was a smart pick. However, God is in control and He showed His blessings on Tebow last night. I am thrilled for Tim and look forward to following his career in the NFL!

The Marriage Prayer: 68 words that could change the direction of your marriage

For Him
Father,
I said, “Til death do us part.” I want to mean it.
Help me love You more than her
and her more than anyone or anything else.
Help me bring her into Your presence today.
Make us one, like You are three in one.
I want to hear her, cherish her, and serve her--
So she would love You more and we can bring You glory.
Amen.

Make us one, like You are three in one.
I want to hear him, support him, and serve him--

Hey Ya'll!!!!!!!

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would drop by. DH and I just started a new internet network called SafeNet.tv. Come check it out! We have a lot of Christian Artists on, some locally here in NC and then we have some from Georgia, Texas, Virgina, kindof all over! We do a live show on the internet every week at 8pm. You can watch it on the site (SafeNet.tv) You have to have a UStream account to comment and participate in the chat, but those are free.

Tonight is Carlos Massey, a Christian Comedian. The name of the show is Natman 101.

Anyway, the song stuck in my head right now is the Live Klove version of David Crowder "How he loves". Powerful beyond words.

Ya'll be blessed!!

Hey everyone!:goodvibes

Bunkkinsmom, I'll check that out!:goodvibes

I got to see Starfield and Switchfoot in concert recently and they were fantastic, as was Kristian Stanfill who was opening for them. I would highly recommend seeing all of them live! David Crowder Band is coming to our city soon and I plan on getting tickets as soon as they go on sale!:thumbsup2

If We've Ever Needed You
By Casting Crowns

Hear our cry, Lord we pray,
Our faces down, our hands are raised,
You called us out, we turned away, we've turned away.

With ship wrecked faith, idols rise,
We do what is right, in our own eyes,
Our children now, will pay the price,
We need Your light, Lord, shine Your light.

If we've ever needed You, Lord, it's now, Lord, it's now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we're reachin' out, we're reachin' out.

All our hearts, all our strength,
With all our minds, we're at Your fate,
May Your Kingdom come, in our hearts and lives,
Let Your Church arise, let Your Church arise!

If we've ever needed You, Lord, it's now, Lord, it's now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we're reachin' out, we're reachin' out, we're reachin' out

If we've ever needed You, Lord, it's now, Lord, it's now,
We're are desperate for Your hand, we're reachin' out, we're reachin' out,
If we've ever needed You, Lord, it's now, Lord, it's now,
We are desperate for Your hand, we're reachin' out, we're reachin' out

We need You now
Revive us now
We need You now

Just found this thread and haven't read much but the first post.

My mil died Thursday, she has been in hospice care in our home since Jan. My husband is a pastor and she wanted him to do her funeral. Please pray for us today (Sunday) and tomorrow, the funeral service.

I'm going to go ahead and subscribe to this forum so I can take time to look at more of what y'all have written.

Pwdebbie, I am so sorry.:sad1:

You and your family will definitely be in my prayers. I hope you find all the comfort and peace you need today.:littleangel:

Hey ya'll!

new to the boards, so I'm just finding this thread.

I so love CCM!!

Concerts, artists, photography... I could talk for hours.. what are some favorite artists around here?

Me personally.. I love some of the more established artists, Third Day, Jars of Clay.... some new stuff, 33 Miles, Tenth Avenue North.. solo artists.. everything.. Toby Mac, Newsboys (now with Tait! LOL)

It doesn't hurt I live in Nashville, home to nearly everyone! lol... The bad part, no one tours "at home"

Let's see, I love...

David Crowder Band
Chris Tomlin
Kristian Stanfill
Starfield
Sidewalk Prophets
Hillsong United
Paul Baloche
Newsboys
Casting Crowns

and I'm sure there are tons of others I'm missing!:thumbsup2

I'm also curious, does anyone have any favourite Christian books to share? I just finished Come Thirsty and In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado and loved them! I would highly recommend them, I love his writing style- it is so engaging. Next I'm starting Traveling Light, also by Lucado.
