Chit Chat Thread - November ADRs...

Has anyone discovered any tricks to canceling an ADR when a better time comes up for the date you want? I am trying to improve times for 2 ADR's but have read several of you have lost your existing ADR and not been able to secure the better time when trying to do this. Of course the ones I want to improve don't come up frequently but today I have seen the times I want pop up.

Thanks for any feedback

I would have agreed with the above poster, until last week. I've changed a few ADR times and was able to cancel and rebook the new time no problem. That was before. The dining site has been so glitchy lately. I wouldn't trust it not to leave me empty handed.

I've been searching for a CP package at Via Napoli for a few weeks, even breaking down and paying the 3.99 for the scout subscription. Last weekend while doing a search of my own in the early morning, a dinner package popped up and I jumped on it. It brought me to the log in screen and promptly RETURNED me to the search page and poof....that ADR was gone. I'd read on here to keep trying as sometimes when the site glitches, it causes the ADR to disappear for a little bit but then it comes back and I sat here for another 25 or 30 minutes researching for it, and thankfully it came back and I was able to grab it.

If you have a hard to get ADR you are trying to move to a better time, I'd suggest securing the new time under a different email address....it can still be your own name/info, just a different email and then cancel the current time you have. That's what I did when I had to move a few things around, but was afraid of losing the one I had before making sure I had the new one, due to IT problems on their end.

regards

If the times aren't within an hour of each other then you can book the better time then cancel. I have been prompted that I have another res at the same time and asked to cancel one before booking the next, but it was always successful. Hope this makes sense.

That does make sense - thank you. The hard one will be trying to get a BoG pre-park opening ADR but I will give it a try.

Thank you. I never thought of that approach. That would certainly make me feel more comfortable before I have to cancel a hard to get ADR.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you transfer the new ADR to your original MDE? Or do you just keep it under that email and just keep it as a separate ADR? Do you need 2 accounts to do this?

I don't attempt to transfer the ADRs. I usually have ADRs on two accounts. When you check in at a WDW restaurant they just ask for the name and time of the ADR.

So you have 2 MDE accounts under your name? Don't you have to link them to your MB? Can you still use dining credits to pay for these meals? Sorry to be a pain...I'm new to the whole MB and MDE thing!

Coordinating ADR cancellations... I've had two fail on me now (and we did it at odd times, like 9:23), but a different time has opened up for the same date and party (ex. Canceled 8:05p Ohana for 6 and a minute later, 9:30p opened for 6).. Think Disney is trying to get unpopular times filled knowing people get these buddy notices?

ADRs just want your reservation number and name when you show up. You don't have to have the ADR on your account to use dining credits.

Has anyone used Scout for over a year. Being fairly neurotic, I read all the terms and conditions despite not being sure I want to register. It made it seem like is a subscription service that you can then pay extra for if you want (for more searches). It also said your membership continues until you cancel electronically through the app (calls and emails are not acceptable ways to cancel). Does this mean is stores your cc info an charges you everytime your previous membership ends? If anyone has cancelled, is it easy to find the link that allows you to cancel?

I have a Ressie for 4 but am a party of 5. Do you think there will be a big issue showing up with 1 more. My kids are 4, 2.5 & 1

This was the response of wilkeliza on a different thread to someone who asked that question.

"You can try but are taking a gamble. It isn't just about table space but also staff and fire code.

When is your trip? I have been told they just absolutely can't fit another person in the building at a few restaurants at the world especially with 2 going to 3 or 4 going to 5. Usually it is because they are completely booked and honestly only could give us a 2 top (or 4 top for the 4 going to 5) and there was no safe way to add another person."

Hmmmm...I just checked and I didn't see a link to cancel. I just assumed it would expire after the 6 months or year is up?

So the "Payment and Plans" section says this among the items listed:
  1. For semi-annual payment plans, the Service is billed in advance on a semi-annual basis and is non-refundable. There will be no refunds or credits for partial months of service, upgrade/downgrade refunds, or refunds for months unused with an open account. In order to treat everyone equally, no exceptions will be made.
  2. For annual payment plans, the Service is billed in advance on a annual basis and is non-refundable. There will be no refunds or credits for partial years of service, upgrade/downgrade refunds, or refunds for months unused with an open account. In order to treat everyone equally, no exceptions will be made.
And the "Termination of Accounts" says the following:
  1. You are solely responsible for properly canceling your account. An email or phone request to cancel your account is not considered cancellation. You can cancel your account at any time by clicking on the Account link in the global navigation bar at the top of the screen. The Account screen provides a simple no questions asked cancellation link.
  2. If you cancel the Service before the end of your current paid up year, your cancellation will take effect immediately and you will not be charged again.

Interesting. I even went to the website and I still see no link. Hopefully they don't scam people into paying every year!! There has to be a way to cancel. My subscription expires in Dec so I'll make sure to figure it out before then!

I think every company who uses an automatic renewal of an annual payment is trying to rip people off. I think they think most people forget and by the time they remember it's too late because they've already charged your card again and then the answer is "no refunds." But...I've just been all over the site and don't see an "Account" button or any way to cancel. I have a user profile and a subscriptions and payment option but neither of those have a cancellation button.

I would be interested to hear from someone who's tried to cancel their subscription on how they went about cancelling.

I'm glad this got brought up! I'm terrible for reading fine print and would never have realized that I needed to cancel! It does seem fishy to me that the so called 'no questions asked cancellation link' is nowhere to be found!!

Agree about finding out now! Funny how easy it is to add more money to your account versus finding the link to cancel! They do have a FB page so if we can't figure it out, I'll go on there and ask!!

Oh - and I did see a post on their FB page about the other site 'that shall not be named' and a statement from Scout not condoning the hoarding of ADRs. I'm sure they'll work quick to separate themselves from those paid ADR sites!!

I'm sure they will!! I don't blame them. I've seen them already getting lumped into the mix when people talk about the 'other site'!! If they make us jump through hoops to cancel they'll sure lose merit with me though!!
