Chit Chat Thread - November ADRs...

Oh my gosh. I just looked at that site and wow! They are really hording and advertising selling them. That cannot be allowed in Disney's terms of use. I hope Disney has a team of Lawyers that would be sure to include something about selling reservations. I hope that site gets shut down quickly.
I just looked at the site too. This is horrible and I would rather not get an adr then give them a penny! No wonder we can't get adrs! Disney needs to take care of this soon. They even explain how they do it under a fake name! Uuuugh

I'm afraid to look at that site because I know I'll find the ADR I've been stalking and will be really mad that they are scalping them. I hope Disney shuts them down quick and cancel all their fake reservations. But how will Disney know which ones are their fake ones?

I had a quick look - they didn't have mine, and even if they did... I'm not paying $15 for a ADR I'm not guaranteed to get when I'm sure if I just wait and be patient it will show up in time. I'm only looking for Akershus though, not Cinderella or anything even harder to get.

are there any tricks to booking adrs? like having to refresh the page every so often, does it help to ask for a specific time instead of just lunch/dinner? i don't mind always checking, im on computer all day at work, but i don't want to be wasting my time if the computer somehow isn't really searching? if that makes sense...

There's not really any tricks - just persistence!! My observations on picking specific times versus meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner) - I think if a restaurant has a lot of openings and you want a specific time then you should search for that specific time. If you put in "dinner" and there are a lot of openings then you'll get 3 options - maybe 6:15, 6:30 and 6:45. But if you wanted 8:30 it doesn't mean that there's not an 8:30 available so you have to go look for 8:30. If a restaurant has limited availability then you can pick "dinner" and you may just get one option to choose from, which means it's the only time available.

You can check regularly by refreshing your page and ADRs do sometimes open up. However, right now paid search sites like Buddy and Scout are also constantly searching and sending out emails and texts to people letting them know something is available and then they get swooped up quickly. My process used to be to check the site 10 times a day and I would usually find what I wanted. But this year I wasn't finding anything. So I finally broke down and got Scout because I was finding nothing.

You can also join the cancellation thread. Then hopefully someone will post a cancellation that you want and you can try to pick it up when you see the post or sometimes people coordinate drops. There also some Facebook groups where people coordinate cancellations. I think someone posted those links in this thread. If you go to the search box in the top right and search "facebook" in this thread only you can find those links.

thank you, i appreciate your response. i've been watching the cancellation thread. i'm not on facebook. but i will just be persistent and hope. not a huge deal if i don't get it, just a bonus.

Has anyone ever noticed whether cancelling ADR's at specific times of day or random times (not on an hour or half hour) resulted in better ability to coordinate reservations? Wondering if there is a trick there :-)

Yes! My last two were successful and they were at odd times.
10 after and 38 after the hour.

not ADR related but wanted to share.. I wasn't able to get A&E fastpasses exactly 60 days out, but I have since managed to snag one. It made me lose my seven dwarf mine train and other fastpass, but i didn't care because i got A&E. since then - like in the last 2 days, i have managed to snag the seven dwarf mine train again and the other one we wanted (no overlapping, perfect timing). now all i need is another A&E and we'll be golden.

so basically all i wanted to say is.. keep trying. i literally checked 20 minutes ago, nothing for mine train. checked 5 minutes ago, 2 available. woohoo. so keep checking :)

now if I could just get that darn Akershus breakfast.....

Merry and bright desert party is available for reservations. Has anyone done this before? Since it is at 7:00 (same time as fantasmic) will there be a second fantasmic? Hoping to get to do both!

Hi all, this will be our 1st trip to Disney. We're only staying 5 days (M-F) I feel like that isn't enough time to enjoy or to schedule a rest day. We'll have a 4 yr old, almost 3 year old and 1 year old. I was planning on nixing Epcot, hearing others say there isn't much for my kids ages there. But I want to see each park Am I just stressing... And scheduling these adrs is exhausting. We do our fps tonight and from reading others comments, looks like a&e are out

Jani3 posted this many pages back.

I'm not sure if they are as hard to get like ADRs because I haven't done it yet. My FP+ date isn't until a few days after you. But I got this website from the disboard's thread about FP+ strategies. It shows what FP+ are available for certain dates all the way up until mid-Nov right now. Hope this is helpful:

^^ i was just about to post that link.

you can go to your specific date via this link and it shows what is available.

http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/fastpass_plus_availability.php

click on the attraction (eg anna & elsa) and it shows the availability for the next 75 days.

either way, don't fret.. i wasn't able to get a&e at midnight on my 60 days, but since then (like, 2 days) i've been able to snag them. when your fastpasses become available, go straight to the end of your trip to check a&e.

also, about epcot.. to be honest, i'm not the world's biggest fan of epcot myself, i enjoy it, just not as much as magic kingdom / hollywood studios. though there are a ton of characters to meet, if your kids will like that. i don't have any kids, so i'm sure others could weigh in, but maybe epcot could be your somewhat of a rest day. if you want to see it, see it. others might not agree but i think 5 days is plenty (though again, no kids).

I also have a my FP tonight and feel like I've put in hours of "studying" time into trying to figure out what are the good ones to use them on. I have a 5 yr old and he just started watching Phineas and Ferb so that's the main reason why we're going to Epcot (plus I want to eat some new stuff). I was going to skip it because there wasn't much for us to do there with our kid. I decided to add it the last minute but more like a "rest tour" like PP mentioned. From what I've seen, Hollywood studios has more stuff to do for younger kids.

Is Minnie's holiday dine party at lunch too. I read somewhere that it's only dinner. I have a lunch and dinner reserved and need to cancel one, but I want to make sure that we will get the same experience at lunch.

Has anyone discovered any tricks to canceling an ADR when a better time comes up for the date you want? I am trying to improve times for 2 ADR's but have read several of you have lost your existing ADR and not been able to secure the better time when trying to do this. Of course the ones I want to improve don't come up frequently but today I have seen the times I want pop up.

Thanks for any feedback

If the times aren't within an hour of each other then you can book the better time then cancel. I have been prompted that I have another res at the same time and asked to cancel one before booking the next, but it was always successful. Hope this makes sense.

I think the lunch is with the Disney Jr. characters and the dinner is with Minnie dressed in Xmas outfit + Santa goofy.
