Children and school

Hi all,
Does anyone take their children out of school to travel to WDW during non peak seasons? The last couple of times that we've gone my daughter was not in school yet and were able to travel during nonpeak seasons. I really can't imagine going when it is really crowded yet I have mixed feelings about taking her out of school. Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

When my daughter was in school, we never hesitated taking her out for two weeks every year. From kindergarten through fifth grade, we took her out. Some teachers were ok with it, some were telling me that I was destroying her life and would burn in hadies for eternity for such an awful thing. She seems well adjusted so far, I think the binge drinking will calm down when she hits thirteen.

I homeschool her now, so its real easy.

I do! I have a 7 ds & 4 dd. I take my son out the week after Thanksgiving. I also just took him out 4 days last week! They're only young once!

We have taken our DD out the 1st week of March the past few years. She is in kdgtn. now and her teacher has no problem sending homework with her. We also went the last week of Sept. and that was fine too. The way I look at it...kids are only young once and we value the time that we spend with them. Therefore, it doesn't bother us at all to take her out 2 weeks a year.

hi: it does get harder for them to catch up as they get older. my two sons are 14 and 20 now and i've taken them out for wdw vacations since 1987. some teachers will have a cow over it and others will say enjoy and make sure you catch back up. the old glass is half full/half empty/or twice as big as it needs to be philosophy. check with your kids' schools' policies regarding absences-if there's nothing prohibitive in their written policies and a teacher objects, a nice call or letter to the guidance counselor works wonders.
