What did you use for your kids as identification? bracelets? necklace engraved? WhoseShoes with velcro (don't know how sturdy those would be). What do you use to put your phone # ect in case your kids get lost???

If you will carry a cell phone into the parks, write that number with a sharpie somewhere on your child (ankle, upper arm, just find a place) you didn't say how old the child is but teach them how to locate adults with nametags (begin practicing in your local stores) and show them the number and why you're putting it there so they'll know to show the CM

I have used several different child IDs for my DD5 and DS3.

The last time we were at WDW, we used tags on the shoes that actually get fed through the strap. We purchased them at kidtagz.com. They never slipped off their shoes and the tag fit so tightly and was just hard enough to snap that the kids couldn't take them off even if they tried. We wrote our contact info with a Sharpie.

I'm not sure if the shoe tags will work for us this year because our kids like Crocs. We will probably be bringing ID cards that we have purchased from kidzidz.com. The kids wear the lanyards and we just drop it down inside their shirt. By the way, if you've never seen the cards you should at least look at them. They are great! Pricey at first, but you have unlimited renewals for updated pictures, phone number change, etc. until the child turns 21 for free (you do pay for shipping & handling though).

Another thing we have used is a bead bracelet that we purchased from lorisnursingjewelry.com/gpage2.html. More girl styles than boys, but my DS3 has one as well with appropriate boy beads. I use these sparingly though because the kids like to play with them and I'm afraid the kids will take them off.

Slightly off topic, but the other thing we did was take a picture each morning so we knew what our kids were wearing. That way we had an accurate description in case they did get lost. We also started our day in the park showing our DD (who was then 3) how to find a cast member and to recognize the uniform in the event she did get lost. We told her to look for the name badge and then we would stop and speak to a cast member so they could point it out to her. We would have her practice saying to the cast member "I can't find mommy or daddy. Their phone number is on my shoe."

Hope some of this helps. Good luck!

We also do the photo in the AM thing.

Another thing you can teach your kids is to find another mom with little kids, and have her call you.

Hopefully nobody will need this information!!

Luggage tags through the beltloop (this is what my neighbor did with their son) and I've read too that you can have inexpensive dog tags made at Walmart with your info on them and lace them through shoelaces!!

What about writing your info on a piece of paper and pinning it on the inside, back of the shirt or somewhere??

I had my entire family wear convention type name holders around their necks. It was great to keep their KTTW and fastpasses in. I also put a card in each that had their names, hotel we were staying at and both mine and DH's cell #s. I found great info tags at themouseforless.com

I'm planning on taking a picture of the boys in the morning (also, they'll be wearing matching shirts every day), as well as putting our info (name and cell # and resort) on luggage tags to go through their beltloops. And hammer in their heads that they need to go to a cast member if we get separated.

I wanted to second the idea of putting their name and phone number to reach you with sharpie on their arm.

We completely write all over them with Sharpie for swimteam with no adverse affects.

We get the large mailing labels. I print a disney picture on them (this time it will be Princesses or Boo for our little one and pirates for our son), with "If I am lost, please call my Mommy and Daddy at..." then put a cell phone number on it. We stick the label on their upper back. Many people who saw the tags while in line commented on the "fantastic idea". We have never had a problem with them coming off or the kids not liking them. They like having stickers on their backs. :rotfl: I don't mind if people see the cell phone number. It has no names on it, and it is easy to find for a CM or another parent.

My oldest DS and my DD are both special needs. We use luggage tags we get from a craft store. We use scrapbooking paper and a sticker of their favorite character to decorate it. We write all their info on it. Conditionsj, meds, dosage and our cell numbers. Because they also help to make them they are more likely to keep them on. We just attatch them to their belt loop. If you ask them they will tell you alll about them and what they are for. If you need more info send me a message.

There is a woman in MD that sells temporary tattoos that have the child's information. The children like to wear them b/c they are designed for children with different designs (dionsaurs, dragons, flowers, etc...) but they have all the important "if lost please contact" information as well. I will try to find her information if you are interested.

We used Whos Shoes IDS. They are pretty sturdy. We used our cell phone numbers on it while on vacation and then when we got home we added our home numbers. They are still doing great. And we took them on our trip last April.

We use Road IDs (http://www.roadid.com). I got one for myself for running, saw how great it was, and then bought one for son. The small size is adjustable enough that he can wear it around his wrist or around his ankle. We had the who's shoes previously, but he wants to wear Crocs, so that doesn't work so well. We also tried a child's wrist ID band (I forget the brand) and it was scratchy, inflexible, and uncomfy. This band costs a little more ($20), but it will last forever. The information is laser engraved on a metal tag. I really can't say enough about them. I love mine and my son loves his. It's the first option that I haven't had to insist that he wears. He likes it.

I put his name, city, DOB and NKA/NKDA (they say those are the two most important pieces of info if he would need emergency medical care we weren't there to answer or couldn't answer) and then my cell and my husband's cell numbers.

Editing to add: I just realized that you can kinda see it on his wrist in my sig photo. =)

I used this website for our last trip (found it by reading these boards) and was very satisfied with them. They are the silicone bands similiar to the Lance Armstrong Live Strong bands. My girls wore them around their ankles for the entire trip. They are waterproof making them perfect. We had engaved on them IF FOUND CALL 1234567890 or 0987654321. We used mine and my husbands cell phone numbers. You can order one or as many as you need. Well worth the $1.99 each! Loved it!!

I take one of my Grandkids every year. Last year I used a magnet from a name tag. One side is a powerful magnet the other just a blank piece of metal. (about 1-1/2" x 1/2") I typed kids name, where we were staying, my cell # and her parents cells back in Wisconsin (in case something happened to me) glued it to the metal strip and put it in her pocket magnet on the outside. I also had a locket with the same info in it, so she could choose which she wanted to wear.
I did not think it was a good idea to display her name where everybody could
see it, maybe that makes me over protective.
It worked great. It was small so she was not bothered by it, no one could read the info unless she told them where it was, and I had peace of mind.

not sure if these ideas have been mentioned yet, but:

-we got engraved tags from petsmart (our last name, cell #, and name of our resort), which i then put into the kids' laces

-for days when the kids are wearing crocs, we got tags from DTD (in with guest services)...it comes with a chain so the kids can wear it as a necklace or loop it around for a bracelet.

both of these places offered do-it-yourself small engraving machines, and the kids loved picking out their own designs.

HTH,

I ordered the Shanrene silicone wrist bands that another poster had suggested
http://www.shanrene.com/custom-wristbands.php

They came in about 4 days. The 8 inch adult size is big enough for my DDs to wear on their ankle. That way they won't be fooling around with it and lose it.

I got their first name and both mine and DH's cell phone numbers on it.

We got my daughter an adjustable band from id inside, http://www.id-inside.com. She likes it because she can wear it on her wrist or ankle. She knows to tell a CM that our numbers are written on the strip inside the outer band. It seems fairly sturdy and I had very good customer service from them. I think I'll be buying some more as gifts for my nieces and nephews before their next trip.
