Morning everyone! Hope you all had a great M Day! Mine was pretty low key. We went out for bfast and then I started some organizing/packing. Later, we took the dcs to McD and read the paper while they played. That was about it. Pretty exciting, huh?
Enjoy your morning! It is supposed to really heat up today! No AC:scared: in my car, either!

Hey all! I enjoyed reading everyones mothers day post. Mine was pretty quiet. I took TWO short naps and then spent the afternoon with my family at my dd volleyball tournament. It was nice just being together. Hope everyone's day is great.Gotta get back to :laundy:

Thanks for the responses about teppanyaki..we have been thinking about add the dining plan to our reservations this july so we all thought about restuarant we wanted to try.. we always drive to WDW and bring a cooler full of stuff and the crock pot and i cook some meals plus breakfast and sandwiches. This year we are flying, so we are limited on the food we can bring. We have thought about renting a car for a grocery run, DH said he would take a bus to Walmart  , but the dining plan might work too.

There are a *lot* of great eating places around WDW. One great place is the Sand Trap Grill at Osprey Ridge Golf Course. It closes arond 5pm though, so it's not a dinner choice. It's a phenominal hidden jewel of Disney World. I've been told that a lot of Disney executives like to eat there since most guests don't know about it.

Another is the All-Star Cafe at the Wide World of Sports. Again, it's out of the way, so not a lot of guests.

If you get off the property, go into Celebration and eat at the Celebration Town Tavern. You'll swear you're sitting in Boston. They've got a hundred different beers and you can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Hey, Chicago! Happy belated Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers & those women who are the "second" mother on this thread....I got a Mother's Day card from my doggie!:rotfl2: My biggest Mother's Day gift was Christopher's graduating from college...he graduated cum laude...we were quite proud! Had a very busy weekend in Dubuque (thought of you, Crissup, as we stopped in Galena!)....

I know I have seen a few votes from you all for Mackinac Island in June, but I am thinking more about Door County or Lake Geneva now...I would still love to go to Mackinac sometime, I'm just not sure this year is the right time as we have done some traveling already this year, and Mackinac seems like quite a distance away. But, again, not entirely ruling out the possibility and appreciate all of your thoughts!

Hope you all have a great night...a special shout out to all of Chicago-land!:goodvibes

Thanks John.I will add those to our list to check out- All Star cafe is on the DDP and is a TS credit. . I will file away the Celebration recommandation until we have a car with us..

Howdy all!! :wave2:

Donna Congrats to your son's graduation!! :yay:

Geffric Dining plan is awesome!! Too many choices!!! :goodvibes

slo Sounds like the store is really coming around!!! You must be getting anxious!! :cheer2:
Bowling was great!!! Went to that Brunswick alley again and it was just filled with familes!!! Lots of fun!!

Evening All and Happy Post Mother's Day.:goodvibes \

With our DDs not home my husband went above and beyond in helping make a meal for my M and MIL. :thumbsup2 :woohoo: My M was her usual self - we gave both mothers a planter filled with geraniums. My mother had to count the blossoms on each planter and then took the one with the most:rolleyes1 Yes, that is my mother............but it went better than expected.

Did start a knitting class in Long Grove that is every Sunday morning.....really glad to get back to it. Anyone else knit or counted cross stitch?

My DH found the recipe for Dole Whip (my all time favorite snack at WDW) float on line - bought all the ingredients and tried to make it. Well it tasted somewhat like the Dole Whip but not quite.......GREAT TRY ON HIS PART   HE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Donna - Congrats on your son's graduation. I have one done and one still making her way through college:rotfl2:

Geffric - LOVE the Japanese restaurant. Also a big fan of Le Cellier, Coral Reef and Kona (in the Polynesian). We try to treat ourselves each time we go with a nice restaurant. Good Luck!!

Slo - Where is your store going to be located?

Crissup - What kind of food is served at the Sandtrap Grill......have never been there nor have I heard of it.:upsidedow

Poohlovermom - NAPS!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMM my favorite pastime. GOOD FOR YOU!!:cool1: :cool1:

paintnolish - Did you survive the day without A/C in the car? There was a nice breezy breeze in my area.

Off to get ready for work tomorrow.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Crissup - What kind of food is served at the Sandtrap Grill......have never been there nor have I heard of it.

The Sandtrap Grill has burgers and sandwiches. It's in the golf clubhouse and one whole wall is all window and you look out over the golf course. When we walked in, it was about an hour before closing and the place was empty. We were worried it was closed. I walked in and called out and the bartender came out and said that since it was so slow the cook had already shutdown the grill and started cleaning up. But, the cook said the grill was still hot, so he fired it back up and CarolAnnC and I enjoyed a nice bite to eat. It was very tasty. I think I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and Carol had a bacon cheeseburger.

As for the All Star Cafe, I understand that the chain is owned by someone other than Disney. But, supposedly, they weren't able to make a go of it in WDW and were going to close up. So, Disney decided to buy them out and licensed the name and is now running it themselves. Carol and I felt the food was very tasty. Kind of like an ESPN club atmosphere. Again, the place was half empty when we were in there, since, if there is no activity going on at WWoS, not many people drive over there. We enjoyed it and had a leisurely stroll through the gift shop on our way out.

OK, aside from my subject - Happy BELATED Mother's Day to ALL our MOM's here and, I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier! Sounds like you all, including Me, had a great day!!! :goodvibes

Congrats Christopher!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Sandy, you are one busy entrepreneur! (Did I spell that right? :confused3 )

:grouphug: ALL!!!

The carpet is down in the store, and it is so nice - I'm very happy with my choice in carpet:thumbsup2 What's even nicer is the girls now can sit on the floor without getting full of concrete dust and drywall dust:thumbsup2 The backroom is just having the concrete floor, so Kevin sprayed that with a sealer last night to prevent us from tracking dust all over the new carpet.

I also have a desk now:woohoo: :yay: My DB and SIL put my new desk together yesterday - wasn't that nice of them:goodvibes Actually, my DB spent the whole afternoon with me yesterday picking up stuff for the store - so I took him out to lunch to thank him:) Yesterday was a good day!!!!!:goodvibes

Today I go get fitted for a knee brace, and then later I have to meet a man to discuss a terminal and service for taking credit cards. The carpet guys weren't totally finished yesterday, so they are coming today too to finish what they need to finish.

geffric - Congrats on the new dishwasher :cheer2: When the money fairy shines on you, will you tell him/her to come shine on me - this store is sucking the life out of my pocket book:eek:

poohlover - I"m glad you had a nice low-key Mother's Day :)

Crissup - I've never eatin at any of those places you mentioned:sad2: When my girls get older we'll be able to try more places. Right now we just have character meals after character meals, which I love too :goodvibes

Donna - Congrats to Christopher!!!!:cheer2: I bet you are so proud of him:goodvibes

Bunchkin - I'm glad you had fun bowling :cool1:
**I'm not getting to anxious about opening yet because there's so so so much to do. What I"m getting anxious for is getting my equipment in there so I can start framing items for the walls. Kevin, my DB, and Tim are moving lots of items there on Wednesday so one of my best friends this weekend can help me set things up while Kevin is in Indy. My friend Matt used to work at the other frame store with me, and he knows alot of the equipment like the back of his hand. Once the equipment is running, and I get stuff ready, than I'll be ready :faint:

Chris - The store is in NW Indiana (I'll let you know in a PM the town - I don't like posting it openly - you never know who's lurking:rolleyes: )
**I'm glad your Mother's Day went well with the mom's. What did you and your DH cook for them?
**Kevin got the receipe for Tonga Toast, and it wasn't the same either:sad2: There's just something much better about eating it there!!

Kim - I hope you find someone to take the tickets:wizard: If Stephanie would go, I would take her, but she doesn't like rollercoasters:sad2:

Well, I gotta run and get into the shower
Have a good day today everyone  and stay dry :umbrella:

Good Morning all!!! :sunny:

Yesterday was so busy for Hunter and I that today we are just going to chill at home.
At least until tonight that is. Lauren and Hunter are just dying to go to the Build A Bear store to check out all the Shrek stuff they have. Including Shrek's triplet babies!!! :rotfl:

Here's a picture of Shrek's offspring!!!

slo Your store is really coming along!!
Have you figured in a room for the girls to be in when they are there?
Like I said, I have something for you to frame so I hope to get to be one of your first customers!!!!

chrismiss Boy, your mom sounds like mine!!!
That was very nice of your DH to make you a Dole Whip, regardless of the taste!!! :rotfl:

Kim I hope you find someone to take the tickets off your hands!!
Does Matt have any friends that can use them??

Bunchkin- love your new HP pics! I can't wait!
chrissmiss- How sweet of dh to try to make you a dole whip! I did survive yesterday but had to make a long drive. Having the windows down is so noisy! Drives me crazy. On the upside, tho, it drowns out dd's nonstop chatter!
slo- Never had Tonga toast. Is it banana stuffed french toast? If so, I have an awesome recipe!
donna- Congrats to your ds!
geffric- Ddp is awesome! go for it! We had such a great time on it last sept. I will never do WDW minus ddp again!
I have more organizing and cleaning to do. I am going to take some stuff to an ebay store and also to a friend's garage sale. The more I move, the more I realize how much junk I have! I need to lighten the load! Enjoy your day! Hopefully those afternoon storms won't be too bad!

Bunchkin -- Awww...those Shrek babies are so cute!

DD had her final orchestra concert last night! She is one very happy kid that she is done, done, done with orchestra. She plays the violin but is quitting at the end of this year. She will be doing choir full-time next year and can't wait.

She still has some time to go with school but we were trying to figure it out last night and think she has about 5 days left of it (they alternate between orchestra/choir on days). She is missing the last Monday of the year of it for her braces removal (teeth), so that's one less day.

I don't know how much of anything they will be doing now that the concert is over with. She told me mostly bookwork and just fiddling stuff -- she can survive it. ;)

I have to call and see how that works with not renting anymore! Woo Hoo! I know she just leaves the instrument there but I probably need to call them and tell them. I just don't want them to take it before the end of the school year though.

THEN, next week I get to go and sign DS-10 up for band. He is going to be taking the French Horn. Oh boy! I get to see about becoming a band mom then for at least 1 year anyway. We will see if he wants to continue after that. Should be an interesting summer around this house since I think he will get the instrument then (in the past they offered a special 1-week summer class for the new students), I'm sure he'll want to do that. :scared1: I actually think he will do pretty good with an instrument but we shall see.

I do have to say though, I think our middle school teachers are Disney people! :lmao: There is an awful lot of Disney stuff in our school. They had selections from Lion King, Little Mermaid & Pirates: Dead Man's Chest last night and the teacher even said "what would we do without Walt Disney". Then there was the plays they do which tend to be Disney. For 6th grade the variety show was themed Disney :goodvibes

I'm starting to plan a next year's trip and I'm so excited for it! I have to try and save some pennies though. I just hope it all will fall into place but of course, I need to plan, tweak, re-plan, tweak, etc... just part of the vacation process. I applied at Border's for some extra income but I don't think I even passed their psychology test! The thing was 4 - 6 pages long. I just kept thinking -- man, I *just* want to be a cashier not be a CEO or anything, this is insane plus anyone with 1/2 a brain is going to know the "correct" answers they want to hear, even if it's not what you think, I think they are going to flag you as a no if you answered that you agreed/strongly agree with cursing when you are mad or lashing out at people. I'm starting to think like my mom, she said she would never be able to get a job as she is older now & everything is on the computer. I'm thinking I won't ever be able to get a retail job because I can't get past the interrogation questions before ever even getting to an interview. ;) I'm too old for this, I will just have to go back to office work once the kids are older, much easier to job that way.

I want to plan a special VIP day for my 40th birthday next year and am so psyched up about doing that. It's going to be a surprise for the kids though (what I have planned for that day -- not the trip! I have *way* too big of a mouth for that!). :lmao:

paintnolish I love the new HP pics too!!! ;) I spent a good hour going through muggles.net and the leaking cauldron sight looking for small enough avatars that the DIS would except!!! Plus reading up on the new movie!!! We cannot wait till it comes out!!!! :dance3:

What Ebay store are you going to? I know there was one on RT 30 near the high school but it closed.

Becky In regards to saving pennies for your trip, have you thought about having a garage sale. Or putting your sewing skills to use for other people. :)
When my DD was 3yrs old, I applied for a job at Borders and got it. I was wanting to just get out of the house for a few hours and try to regain my sanity!!! I worked the cash register, which was a totally easy job compared to my prior work as an insurance underwriter!!!!
It was a lot of fun talking to people about what they were buying!
I remember one guy got mad at me for just slightly curving a magazine he purchased in order to put into a bag for him........did I mention it was a Penthouse/Playboy type magazine!!!! :scared1: :lmao: WEIRDO!!!! :rotfl:

EEK!!!! I did a garage sale a long time ago but made next to nothing, so really don't want to put the effort into that. As for my sewing skills, well umm...they aren't the best YET. Part of our plan is for this summer DD & I to make a bunch of stuff that we think people might like to buy at craft shows and then when they start rolling around in the fall, setting up at some of the cheaper ones. That way if we don't sell anything we aren't out a ton of money. I know I'm trying my hand at making American Girl clothes. Let's say I'm still practicing. I was trying to surprise DD with making a dress and for some odd reason, one of the sleeves is a little small so I can't get the doll's arm through it. :lmao: I'm working on fixing that. However, it was the first time I ever did this particular pattern, so if I did it a 2nd time it would probably work just fine, etc... I never feel mine stuff is good enough to sell at the moment. I mean, it's one thing for here at home if it's not perfect, however, if someone is going to pay money, they are going to want it perfect (which I don't blame them for). We have lots of little crafty things we are attempting trying to find the balance between, what can we do that isn't too labor intensive, can make well & people would actually want to buy.

I suppose it's possible they will still call and I know the job I could do without any problems whatsoever. I mean, I was a cashier back in the ages of dinosaurs before they had SCANNERS!!!! ;) We actually had price stickers on everything and had to ring it up manually, along with the old credit card slip machines with calling in anything over $50 (actually, our store didn't even TAKE credit cards! but another one I worked at did.) To *me* sitting there scanning stuff, with the computer even telling you how much change to give back is a no-brainer. Not quite as old as seeing the registers as say in the Waltons but not too much farther advanced either. :rotfl: For that matter, going around and re-pricing everything when the price changed. Yep...I definitely think I could handle a cashier job with the equipment they have now. ;) I just don't know if I did acceptable on the pre-job screening stuff (especially after about the 10th time they asked you the same question worded a bit differently).

I picked Borders because they are open later plus I like the atmosphere. I just want to do it during the summer although if they are willing to work with my insane schedule with kid's activities during the school year, that would be fine with me. I just don't know how flexible companies are for that type of stuff anymore.

Morining all. Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. My patient's visitors kept coming in telling me what a nice and warm day it was. I was unfortunately stuck indoors for 12 hours so did not get to enjoy any of it. And of course, today it is supposed to rain:rolleyes1 . Well, that's OK. Maybe I will actually catch up on my housecleaning and make it to the grocery store. Mother Hubbards Cupboards are very bare.:rotfl2:
Becky, I'll bet if you even just placed an ad saying you would do sewing repairs, you could make a bit of extra cash. There are many of us with no talent to even do minor repairs.:rolleyes1 My neighbor did that and couldn't believe the amount of work she got to do. Made a nice extra chunk of change. They are trying to adopt, so any way she can make extra funds, she is doing.
Bunchkin, did you use that bowling coupon for .99 bowling on Sunday?
We thought about going to the Shedd, but by the time we got home from lunch, there would not have been much time to spend there.
Slo, happy working on the store. I can't wait til you open so I can stop in and check it out. I have a couple frames I need fitted for mats to be able to use. My Dad gave them to us before he died, but they are not normal size and have no back or way to secure pictures in. They are great frames. Is that something you would do? Oh, and the Peter Pan shows went well and are done. Just need to get past this week of performance shows. Just basic ballet work that they show the parents what the kids have been working on throughout the year.
John, how are the house repairs coming? Did the builder still refuse to accept any responsibility?
Well, I better get busy. The day is awasting. Later all.

Hi chi-town

I am new to this thread, just popping in to say hi! I am of course too from the Chicagoland area. I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday, too bad it is turning gloomy! :sad2:

John, how are the house repairs coming? Did the builder still refuse to accept any responsibility?

Well, the builder argued that the water problem was due to cracked grout, which they claim is builder responsibility. Of course, the only grout that cracked was the grout around the tile the builder replaced 12 months ago, but they didn't care. They claim they know that the grout is going to crack over time and it's the owner's responsibility to maintain it, just like burned out light bulbs.

Anyway, I removed the cracked grout and regrouted the bottom three rows of tile in the shower and so far we haven't seen anymore water. So, I'm going to touch up the paint on the living room ceiling for now until I've got time to remove the old drywall tape and replace it. Problem is, that's going to require sanding, so I'll need to put out drop cloths and such when I do it. Otherwise, it'd be a simple job.
