Good evening all. Leigh, will go back to read report. Just wanted to pop in and say hello.
Slo, only a few more days to go. Looks like you'll be outta here just in time to miss some cooler weather and find some warm one.:yay:
Only have had to go to jury duty one day this week. (so far):woohoo: Went Monday. Sat all morning. Got called for a jury selection in the afternoon. It was a civil case and I was excused. So wound up with nothing!!! Haven't had to go back yet but still have Friday and all next week. :headache:
Sam, glad to hear Megan is doing better. Bet you are getting excited for your trip as well.
Becky, happy birthday to your DS. Hope he had a great day!!
Bunchkin, where are you?
Welcome to the newbies.
aces, love the pix. Thanks for sharing.
Well, better run. I've been catching up with the house chores and cleaning. Tomorrow, it's off to the grocery store. I hate that job.
Oh, I know we have lots of October birthdays on this thread, soparty: :bday: party:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHICAGO DISERS

Ok I'm going to try this again.

Leigh I'm enjoying hearing/reading your trip report. I'm so not good at that stuff.

Aces Your kids are so cute.

angwill Welcome

Slo When I was at Target yesterday I saw a check list of travel items. It was by the cards. I think I may go back and pick that up.

Tigg Glad so far you had to only do one day.

Leigh -- I'm enjoying the report. I love details.

DD gets to go to Paul's Bavarian Lodge in Lisle tomorrow for dinner. I hope she likes it. Anyone been? It's with her Foreign Language Club, I'm not really sure she's going to like the menu as she's kind of picky. They did give descriptions of the entrees they could pick, so I'm hoping she will at least somewhat like it. I did tell her to just do her best and if she really ended up hating it or something, she could eat at home later. :lmao: I'm a bit of a picky eater myself and I know how daunting trying new foods can be -- my kids are actually better at it than I am but I've BTDT for situations like that and you have to just punt if you end up hating the meal (or have to kind of wing it so that you don't appear really rude but get yourself out of forcing down something you find gross tasting). We were trying to figure out how we could arrange to get her back brace off so she didn't have to wear it to out to dinner but didn't really want to have to show the whole group, KWIM? It turns out, the teacher has requested them dress a little nicer and they can bring their clothes & change into them after school -- PERFECT. Works out to our advantage for the brace, she has a special bag she can use for it and it just looks like this huge book bag. I was thinking I would have to get the brace but she just told me that most of the kids have found out about it anyway (Poor thing except it's really funny the way she tells me about how they find out & the reactions! But she does enjoy messing with a couple of their minds, so hey whatever works! Luckily, no one gives her a hard time per se other than they enjoy poking her and hitting the hard brace -- they find it a bit weird in a goofy way)! Since that's the case with most of the people already knowing, she can just put it in this book bag and deal with it when I pick her up after dinner.

The next few weeks are going to get crazy busy as cheerleading try-outs start soon and if DD makes the squad (she probably will) it gets a little crazy trying to coordinate everything.

She has her first choir concert too. Seems like everything starts to hit at once now. EEK!!!

Thanks everybody about the TR. I just wanted to make sure that everyone wasn't thinking, Why does she think we want to hear all of this? :goodvibes

DD gets to go to Paul's Bavarian Lodge in Lisle tomorrow for dinner. I hope she likes it. Anyone been?

Chef Paul's on Ogden? Yeah, I've been there. It's yummy. If she has this as a choice the Wiener schnitzel is good, and has good gravy. I don't know what she likes, but I'm picky and always like a good schnitzel. Sometimes it's chicken (huhner), but I think there it's Wiener/veal. They have good bread dumplings for a side. Good with the gravy as well.

Ok, looking at the menu, I see that the Wiener schnitzel is pork? :confused3 I really thought that the definition of that was it was veal. But I just looked at Wikipedia and it says that in the Czech Republic it's usually pork or chicken (which is what they have on the menu, both), and I think Chef Paul is actually Czech, so that might explain that. Anyway, I don't even like pork, and I like their Wiener schnitzel (and I assume it was pork the last time I was there, although it's been a couple of years), so it must be good anyway. :thumbsup2

The atmosphere there is really nice. She'll like that. Very...ummm...Bavarian Lodge-y. :rotfl: Hope she likes it! (This is making me hungry!)

What a rainy, rainy, morning :umbrella:
I'm so glad that it didn't storm last night, because I don't have anywhere for the girls to sleep with all our suitcases all over the place.

I'm starting to get really stressed out.
I have so much to do at work, and still so much to do at home. There's not enough hours in the day. I woke up with a terrible headache today, and I know it's because of the stress:headache:

angwill - I'll make sure I do a full trip report when I come home :)

aces - How nice that you have mountains so close to you :goodvibes The closest mountain to us is about 6 hours away (if not more).
*We are leaving Saturday morning at 4am :faint:

Donna - The friendships are great on this thread aren't they?!:grouphug: How's your SIL doing? I'm still keeping her in my prayers:wizard:

Sam - That hair length will be nice for Megan:)
*How did Megan do all day yesterday? I hope her stomach cramping stayed away all day:wizard:

Leigh - Another ticket:eek: I'm so sorry to hear that!!!
*I"m loving the TR - it's really great!!!! :thumbsup2

rmom, Crissup, Mac - :wave2:

Tigggggggggern - Thanks for the happy birthday wishes :goodvibes I'm one of those October birthdays :teeth:

HERSEY - That check list sounds great!!:thumbsup2 I'll have to look for it next time I"m there.

Becky - I hope your DD enjoys her trip to Paul's Bavarian Lodge:)

Bunchkin - I'm still missing you, and starting to get worried - where are you??

Well, I have to go get ready for this very busy day
Have a good day today everyone!!

Chef Paul's on Ogden? Yeah, I've been there. It's yummy.

:thumbsup2 That's the one! They are going as their German restaraunt. They are having a French chef come in on Monday! Talk about getting all their food stuff out of the way early!!! They already went into the Mexican Art Museum but she couldn't make that one and I think did the Mexican food that day. We have Spanish, German & French as the 3 languages offered, so the club focuses on each of those. The French restaraunt closed, so the sponser was able to get a French chef to come in. It's just funny because they had 1 meeting and the museum -- then nothing and now all of a sudden, this & then Monday and then I wonder if it's going to be a lull again before another meeting. :lmao:

Anyway, she picked the Chicken Schnitzel. The description sounded really good - I'm waiting to see if she likes it & then I might have to take go there sometime. She gets a choice of dumplings or mashed potatoes as a side. We weren't sure which ones she should pick as she wasn't sure exactly what the dumplings would be like. From what I can tell, it appears they would be similar to having a roll? Is that correct? She likes the dumplings from Cracker Barrel's "Chicken & Dumplings" but I think the one's at Paul's area different type. She gets to pick her side once she's at the restaraunt though, so she can decide when she gets there. We did go on-line and checked it out but I haven't a clue. She also gets a cup of the soup of the day & an Apple Strudel.

I have to go and finish helping DS-10 study for a Social Studies Quiz and make sure he has all his homework -- he's been getting a TON of homework slips lately. Not good, especially since I have to basically sit with him to do the work in the 1st place and then to get a slip saying he didn't turn it in. UGH.

Then off to get them to school & make sure DD has her change of clothes for after school & make sure we don't forget something like oh 1 shoe or some weird thing like that.

I am. I often read posts without replying, but I am enjoying them.

YEP me too..

Hope everyone is doing okay.. Work has been very stressful.. it is my manager she is making my stomach hurt.. I tiold Dh this morning that maybe I'll work at SAMS or WalMart.. He thinks I should work at DVC but I was a DVC reject already.. so maybe DS??

Anyway.. happy belated birthday SLO what time is your flight? IS it direct?..

So I have a delimina..

Eric ( who has been grounded for almost the rest of his life if not this year) has a friend whose family is very wealthy and VERY generous.. The Mom on day took her son, Eric and 5 other boys to Bennihana ..Anyway, Eric has been to their lake house for weekends etc, so today they invited Eric to join them on a Spring Break cruise... YEP!!!! an RCI Cruise!! and the boys would have their own room ( adjoining the parents) and have FUN!!! They have asked us for only $500 which is the airfare and excursions. They are paying for my 14 year old to take a cruise.. Now I think this is so neat.. cool.. WONDERFUL!!! but

Dh doesn't feel that way at all.. infact he is NOT at all willing to even consider it.. and he is MAD at me 'cause I am considering it...:confused3 :sad2:

Hey you all. Thanks for the comments.

Slo~ Happy B-day!
I know what you mean about stress and not enough time in the day to get things done. We are going to Minnesota in 2 1/2 weeks(DH School) so I am trying to get us ready for that, getting the house together to sell or rent out, packing to move, All these Hollidays bunched up together. All of this in just a couple months. I feel like I am going to lose my mind. On top of all that all the regular stuff.

Oh and we will be in Chicago......
But only at the airport for a couple hours on the way to Minnesota.:rotfl2:
But another thing I am freaking out about is the airplane. NEVER been on a plane before and I am terrified of heights and the thought of being closed up in this big aircraft and no way to control what is going on terrifies me. I can just feel the time getting closer and me having a panick attack.

SamIAm21~~~~ I remember when I lived in Chicago and me and my family would go down to Alabama it was so differant for me to take it all in.
I was not used to mountains at all.

geffric~~~ WOW! Why does DH not like the idea of DS going? Is it because he has been grounded, the money or just him going away?

Happy Birthday Slo!

geffric ~ I echo wondering why he does not want Eric to go. Is it because he feels it is too generous?

Off to go to the doctors. I hurt me knee at work on Saturday, so they are sending me to get it looked at.

slo, for you:

hope your day gets better and you feel better real soon.

i'm excited for you and the fam for the cruise, you will have a blast!

piglet too, hurt your knee? how did that happen, are you going to be okay?

geffric, let the son take the cruise. it's not going to happen until spring break and mr geffric will no longer be fussing about it at that point.

i believe in parenting together but sometimes one parent has to stand alone in decisions that have to be made.

if it were me, i would allow son to go on that trip. he would be in good company and have an opportunity he normally wouldn't have to go.

as long as son is remorse over what caused the grounding, he will build on that experience on how to handle life in a situation. grown ups make mistakes and they aren't grounded for a year.....

just my thoughts
and this comes from a grown woman who leaves notes for her husband when she takes long trips.....

At work on Saturday I was bent down, stood up and felt a rather good "pop". Was able to keep working, but as time has passed it is swollen, I can't bend it and it feels unstable. The doctor I saw today (at a intermediate care place) says I need to see my orthopedic doctor and get an MRI. Even though I am hoping for just a bad sprain, I have a bad feeling I did something to one of the ligaments.

I found a picture that looks like the dumpings they have, they're on the left in this picture.

Basically like a piece of bread kind of. I think this is from a Czech Republic restaurant's web site, which fits with the pork schnitzel. They're really good with the gravy, but if she's not big on gravy I don't know how they would be. I don't think I've had the mashed potatoes there.

And this is all with the caveat that I haven't been there in at least a year or so, so I don't know if anything might have changed.

Hope she has fun! :goodvibes

Hey all, don't forget if you are looking for something to do Saturday night, I am having a Tastefully Simple party at 6pm.

Time to turn off the computer and listen for sirens, storms have hit Mokena.
