Chicago area Diser's - check in here Part 4

well, it's noontime but same greeting applies.

this is the readers digest version of my accident at MK in the haunted mansion ride. wasn't the moving stairs but the doom buggy itself.

yes, i was injured on the haunted mansion ride.
disney has yet to call me to check on me.

i was in the doom buggy, just stepped into it and the seat slid forward.
the seat is that long hard bench. (a piece of wood covered with a black vinyl type of material.)

the bench seat slid forward and i started to stand and get off.
the cm of about 16 years old said i had to sit.
i told him the seat is defective and totally moved forward. he said he would push it back in and i could not get off the ride. he yelled at me and then pushed the doom buggy bar down. and i yelled back at him......told him to let me off the ride. he told me no again.

ok during the ride i leaned forward to get a good look at the dancing dining room scene and the entire bench seat came forward. i was balancing half of it by leaning toward the bar on the ride.

i tried to wave thinking a hiddeen security camera would pick up i was having distress.

no one noticed.

when the ride was over, i yelled for the cm to help me and not move the bar open on the ride as i was clinging to it. by me hanging forward on the buggy bar, i could balance myself on the edge of the bench seat. the cm could see that but didin't stop the ride. when the bar completely opened the doom buggy ride, i could not balance the bench seat any longer.
the bar opened, i fell forward and the bench seat slide up and gouged me in the back, leg, arm and side.

then they stopped the ride ........and called the lead......and help. so embarrassing, it took 2 people to pull me off the floor of the doom buggy.
a supervisor made a report and said he would call paramedics. i told him i thought i should walk to first aide to see how i felt and figure out if my hip was okay.

my shorts were ruined, i had a headache, i wanted to go home.
long story short, first aide wrapped ice bags three places on my body and i held one ice bag to my cheek.
after being in first aid for close to an hour, i was given a slip to go to any disney store and receive a pair of shorts to replace mine. i went to three stores and all the shorts were put away due to the change of season of clothing. (the only shorts that were out were the clearance ones and none in my size.)

guest services wasn't aware of this accident until i told them an hour later.
i had to go there for help as the stores would not honor my slip of clothing for slacks. it was marked for shorts only.

from there, they assigned someone to me to get a different pair of clothing at the disney store by caseys hot dog place.

i was given a velour jacket which was long and would cover my backside as the shorts i had on were white and very soiled. the cm figured this would hide the shorts.
only problem, it was 92 degrees out and i couldn't stand the heat. took off the jacket and carried it then.

so, that was my accident situation for the trip.
i was told disney would contact me as i was told to see my doctor when i got back home. no contact from disney yet and i doubt that they will be in touch.

when the ride was over, i yelled for the cm to help me and not move the bar open on the ride as i was clinging to it. by me hanging forward on the buggy bar, i could balance myself on the edge of the bench seat. the cm could see that but didin't stop the ride. when the bar completely opened the doom buggy ride, i could not balance the bench seat any longer.

This is the problem now a days. People (workers) aren't trained to think for themselves and take control of a situation. This CM was probably afraid he'd get in trouble for causing a delay, so better to force you to ride and hope nothing happens than stop the ride to see what the problem is.

Good afternoon all.
Mac, that is awful. I'll bet you never hear from anyone. DD was injured in the hot tub last year at Royal Plaza. The tub is made out of ceramic tiles. She went on one knee to get out of the tub and all of a sudden blood was coming from her knee. After the craziness of getting her calmed down and out of the water was over, I looked at it. It really could've used a stitch or 2 but we were getting ready to catch our plane home. I asked for some butterflies to patch her up myself. Would you believe, they didn't have any. I cut a bandaid to sort of pull the skin together and figured I'd fix her up at home. Went back out to look at the hot tub and a bunch of the ceramic tiles were cracked or chipped and some broken all together. They never once sent a note or checked back to see if all was OK. And I rather wonder if they ever fixed the tiles in the hot tub.

Thanks to all for the pixie dust for my test. I passed. Don't have to be a repeater!!:rotfl2:
Book Fair is OVER!!!!!:woohoo: Just have to close out the financial stuff.

Now for Jury Duty. Turns out, I didn't look at my papers very well. I have to go to the Dirksen Federal building for Federal Court.:scared1: I have got to get excused from this. I would never see the kids for 2 weeks. By the time I get home at night, it will be time for dinner, bath and bed. I have to leave before they are up. I don't know how they expect people with young families to do this. Joliet was bad enough, but downtown is just crazy!!!

Hope everyone is having a good (even though it's chilly) weekend. May be needed at work this afternoon, so need to run.
Later all.

TiggerRN: Jury Duty - blahggggg. Never thought of how even more inconvenient it would be for those of you living in the city! :headache:

Slo: You are packing for a cruise I see :cool1: . We've never done one, so I will be all ears.

MacRaven: So sorry about the incident  . This is what scares me more than anything about traveling alone. I've heard some stories from other people injured while at DW...one was a man from Indiana @ Lion King last year who sat next to me. His wife was in a scooter that missed the curb and she broke her back! :scared1: Once they establish that the injury occured there, communication shuts down. :sad2: Took my son one year and found out his foot was broken after we got there. Once I told them he had done it at home, but we didn't know it was broken until we arrived at DW, they were all lovey dovey. The last 3 yrs I have gone the first wk of Oct. for F&W opening. I stay @ ASMu. If we both go next year we should exchange cell #'s at least. :flower3:

Hi to Everyone else out there! I like the cold :goodvibes - must be the only one! :)

sounds like a plan.
i go the same time each year and stay at sports but will try movies someday. this was my 5th year in a row at this time period.

we probably saw each other on the bus i bet.....

Mac So sorry to hear about your injury. I hope all is well now.

Tigg I hope you can get excused. Maybe you should bring up the fact "your brother was sent up the river" that should handle it. ;) I thought given that I have lawyers and was married to a cop would help me also given that I work in the insurance industry I had a easy out. NO it got me a very hard seat in the jury box. The Judge and the Prosecution could believe the defense wanted me.:confused3

I'm up super early this Sunday morning because I have so much to do today. We are taking Katie to the mall for an 11am appt to have her Halloween pictures taken (she's Belle for Halloween, and her gown is beautiful - she's very proud of it:goodvibes ) But before we go I have to dye my hair, lay out some more clothes, and clean up this house a little bit - it's a mess (but anyone else would probably think it's fine). You can barely move upstairs with all the suitcases out and then the Halloween decorations boxes out - it's driving me CRAZY:headache: !!!! Those decorations boxes will be back up in the attic by the end of the day - I put some things up yesterday, and I'll do a pinch more today:thumbsup2

HERSEY - I'm sure I can find some room for you in my suitcase :teeth:

Mac - What a horrible experience!!!!! :scared1: I'm so sorry that happened to you

Crissup - I couldn't agree more!!!!! ::yes::

TTTTTTigern - Congrats on passing your test!!!! :cheer2:
**SEnding lots of PD to you for getting out of jury duty :wizard:
**I'm sorry to hear about what happened to Kellie at The Royal Plaza last year:guilty:

rmom - I"m laying clothes out like crazy!!! I'll do a trip report when I come home!!:thumbsup2

Well, it's time for me to take advantage of this time, and do something.
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good Morning
I have finally been able to get online and post. I am was trying to read the back posts. I haven't been on since mid Septmeber so I have missed a bunch.

Sorry to be so general but...

Happy Anniversary
Happy Birthday
And Congratulations to all the new babies.

Not to be all depressing and such but I am having some problems with my DS. I need to spend more time hands on with him. Ty has ADHD and is having trouble focusing on school work which is causing him to fail 6th grade. It's been really tough this year as he is now in Jr. high. He is acting out and requires constant attention. It takes me away from the computer which is why I haven't been on.

On a happy note...Emily and I were at Playhouse Disney Live on Friday afternoon. It was cute. She really liked it. Now all she wants to do it watch Playhouse Disney and keeps telling me we saw that.

Ty won tickets for Kiddieland from Radio Disney so we are going there today. Kids are going in costume. Ty as Captain Jack and Emily as a princess.

We will be back in WDW in 45 days. My first time there at Christmas time and for my birthday. I bought our tickets for the Very Merry Christmas Party yesterday. We can't wait.

Well I should get going kids are waking up and getting into trouble. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Hi Disneynut71 :wave2:
Congrats on winning the Kiddieland tix! :cool1:
I have won Kiddieland tix during the summer for the past 2 yrs, so it's really cool to win!
Looks like it's raining, so hope your kids don't get too wet or have to wear the rain ponchos.

Sorry to hear about your DS  . If you have any questions, please PM me. Both my kids have ADHD(as well as other medical issues) and been on ADHD meds for years.

Have a good day everyone.

DisneyNut: :grouphug: We went through this with my oldest son (Jr. in college now @ 19 yrs old!). If I could do it over, I would demand an IEP for him. I'm still not convinced he even has ADD, but everyone else thought so. Anyway..... 6th grade is really rough for lots of kids. I ended up putting him in private school to finish out middle school in 7th grade. Financially it was a hardship, but was the best thing we could have done for our son (drug free by the way). I know all situations are different - each child needs their own path - just sharing my experience and what helped us. We spent many nights crying over school. Sending you positive energy.

Thank you for the ideas for my DS. I have asked at the school for an IEP. They keep trying to avoid it but I keep asking. They are going to have to do it sooner or later.

Ty has been on 4 different meds. He has developed ticks which I found out may never go away. He is such a great kid with a wonderful heart. I just hope we can find a solution soon. I am thinking of putting him in private school. Since my DD starts Kindergarden next fall I thought that might be a good option for them both.

Kiddieland was great. It rained until about 12:30 and then it was good the rest of the day. DD wore her Belle dress and DS wore his Capt. Jack costume. They looked great.

Have a great night all!

Disneynut71 You have to be persistant regarding your son. I'm glad today turned out well for you and your kids.

Wow, am I the only Chicago DISer up right now? LOL
That's right, you guys are an hour behind me so it would be 5:00 in the morning for you. Well, it's 6 here and we are still trying to get over what ever cold we have. I have been up for an hour now. Baby had me up at 2 and 5, man was she ticked off. Her nose was stuffy and she does not like that and she also does not like those little bulb cleaner things(to clear the babys nose). She was screaming her head off.

macraven~~ So sorry that happened to you. I could not even imagine having that happen to me or one of my family members. That would have been scary.

I had a very busy, but successful day yesterday:banana:
Dyed my hair, went to the mall where we got Katie's pictures taken (they turned out awesome by the way), got my formal wear, got new shoes to go with the formal wear, got a pedicure, went out to dinner, came home and finished laying out the girls clothes, gave showers, watched some tv, went to bed - it was a very productive day!!! :thumbsup2

Disneynut - I"m sorry you are having some problems with Ty :guilty: I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers:grouphug:
**I"m glad you had a nice day today - I bet the kids looked great!!!:goodvibes My Katie is Belle for Halloween too!!!

Aces - I"m sorry that you all can't kick that cold :guilty: I'll send some PD your way so you all can feel better soon:wizard:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Now that the girls clothes are laid out, I guess it's time for me to start laying out my clothes:rolleyes: I'm going to do some of that before I go to work today - therefore, I better get my butt going!!!!

Have a good day today everyone!!

I am waiting on my Mom to get here, and then we are going to Michigan City to hit the outlet mall. (I promise not to hit it too hard, don't want to hurt it ya know ;) :rotfl: )

Hey Everyone!

Well it was another quick-flash weekend. I ended up taking Megan to two Doctors this weekend due to stomach cramps. After getting a urine sample, there was still no definitive explanation? Her stomach is still upset from the flu she had a few weeks ago? Gastroenteritis. Her appetite is good, no fever, just stomach cramping after eating? The worst part is there's really nothing they can give her. But, we are at less than 20 days for our cruise and we are totally excited!

It was a crazy week last week as I had gotten numerous calls from the school nurse, Megan's teacher, back to the nurse, then again talking with the teacher. I'm sure they thought I was just totally ignoring the issue or Megan had turned into a mini-hypochondriac?? Gosh only knows?

I haven't been around to congratulate DMM and Mr. DMM on the birth of their new bouncing baby boy. Roman is a wonderful name and he's just as cute as a button.

To all those out there dealing with ADHD, been there, still doing that. It's a rough road, but with the right help and a good support system, they will be fine. It takes the right medication and an environment where the boys can learn the way they NEED to learn, not how 97% of the other students learn. ADD and ADHD kids have a whole different set of needs when it comes to "how" they learn. I'll keep you all in my thoughts... My stepson has horrible ADD and is severely learning disabled. He probably reads and writes at a fourth grade level (at best).

Nice to see you all here.

Sam

Hi, I'm back!

I had a good trip. Here's my report. I think it's going to be longer than I intended.... :woohoo:

Good flight there...fell asleep at the gate and then couldn't sleep well on the flight. WL was first off the DME. :thumbsup2 Checked in and my room wasn't ready, so I started to wander around carrying my costume in a bag. I had to carry it on because my party was that night and I couldn't have it getting lost. So I wandered until it was time to go to CS at CR to meet my friend for lunch. Got there and she wasn't there yet. Finally called her and she had gotten stuck in a back-up on the highway, so then I went over to pin shop. When she finally got there I told her she owed me for half of what I bought! :rotfl2:

Had lunch. I had French Onion Soup and an Angus Bleu Cheeseburger with fries. (My friend had a 50% off coupon. ;) ) Soup was good, the cheeseburger less so. It didn't seem to be cooked evenly, too done in parts, too rare in others. Then she took me back to WL and we talked a while in my room, which was now ready. Well, once we found it. It took a while. It was 1153, and it was on the first floor, but it turns out the lobby is the second floor. So we had to take an elevator down. I asked a CM where the room was and it turned out he had just taken my suitcase there. :dance3: I was disappointed that it was on the 1st floor because I had a courtyard view, and it wasn't cool from that low. I wanted a balcony. But it was ok. I was near an outside door that I could use to get near the pool and go from there to the boat dock, so I didn't have to go through the lobby. (I was on the side of the Mercantile and the bus stop.) My friend couldn't go to the party, so she left and I napped. I was planning to go at 4pm, but then I realized that I would be dressed as Minnie before the party started, and wasn't really sure that I wanted to do that, so I decided to wait.

So at about 6:30pm I went out to the boat dock and there was quite a line with everyone else going to the party, too. I decided to take the boat to the CR, but then when it came it was almost full and I didn't make it on. It was about 15 minutes before the party started, so I finally decided to go to the bus stop. Great idea! There was a MK bus there and so I got on and was there in about 10 minutes. Yay! :cheer2:

I got there and a CM said You were almost late, Minnie! All the CMs kept talking to me as if I was Minnie. Like, You're lucky, you get to see Mickey a lot more than I do. :goodvibes

I realized I left my gloves back in the room. Oh well, at least I had made it. I went in and got my Trick or Treat bag, and then took pics all around Town Square. Great decorations! Although in some places (like in front of the train station) they had so much fog going that it was hard to take pics.

It took a while to get the hang of it all. I kept seeing all the exits for the candy stations, but couldn't figure out where to get in line. But finally I started to get candy and see some of the characters. Then it was time for the parade. I got a pretty bad spot in Frontierland. I couldn't get a pic of the Headless Horseman approaching, only riding away. It turned out I was standing by a family from the Chicago area, all different towns. They were very friendly.

I love the parade, especially the music!

After the parade I went and did more ToTing and saw more characters. When I got to TT I knew I had to get a pic with Minnie. Luckily there wasn't a very long line. It was about 20 minutes, better than I thought it would be. There were two little girls and one baby behind me also dressed as Minnie, all very cute. The younger girl was so excited to see Minnie and was getting really frustrated with the wait and she started to cry. But they did great with her. Then she came out and said she wanted to go see Mickey! When they told her no, she started to cry again. :upsidedow

When I was with Minnie she pointed to my Crocs. I think she liked them. Then she started to grab my skirt. I had no idea what she was doing, but then she put my hand on it and I realized she wanted me to pull it to the side like her.

I have to work now, but here are my photopass pics with Minnie, and Mickey. I'll continue the story when I have time. :)
