However, if I want to have a baby (which I'm hoping to sometime, although first I need a husband! ), I have to either switch to something else, or go off the meds completely, because depakote has a high risk of birth defects.

Are your cousin's seizures well controlled on her meds? Has she had many? I wish her luck!

She went on a trial medication before she got pregnant and after a year was able to get pregnant on that medication. Her pregnancy went great and her baby boy is healthy and happy. She has had NO seizures on her medication. I will have to find out the names of her meds.....I think she was on depakote before she did the trial.
:grouphug: to both of you.

Debbie6221 I hope your cousin does well pixiedust:

Sk8Leigh pixiedust: for you too I hope you stay seizure free. I remember when I was in grade school one of my friends had a seizure right in class. That was the first time I saw that kind of seizure. One of my Mothers cousins had seizures, her's were pretty well controlled.

I hear next week we have a warm up coming ... all the way to 20 :rotfl2:
You just have to laugh. It could be worse. Those poor people is upstate New york

I am up so early on a Saturday morning :faint:
Stephanie and I have to go to a CCD thing together this morning to help prepare her for her first reconciliation (confession). Then after that we will come home and go to Disney on Ice:cool1: After that, we are going to surprise the girls with dinner at Rainforest Cafe - they will love that!!! :yay:

macraven - My SIL is learning what it takes to become a substitute teacher. If she has any questions about anything, I hope you don't mind if I ask you for some suggestions or answers :teeth:

geffric - Good luck at the breakfast today - I hope you are busy with lots of people!!! :wizard:

Bunchkin - It was good to see you very briefly yesterday :goodvibes

Debbie - Many prayers and PD for you cousin. I hope she does ok off her medication :wizard:

Leigh - Thanks for sharing with us about you having epilepsy. We are all starting to know more and more about each other, that we are becoming such a family :grouphug: I will keep you in my prayers for your medication to continue to work :wizard:

HERSEY - Are the people in New York colder than us? I haven't heard :cold:

Well, I best go start me day
Have a good day everyone!!!

Happy Saturday!

It's 6 AM I do not have to be up this early today but figures I do not have work today so I get up early. Everyother day when I have to get up early I can't get out of bed. lol

lisapezz congrats on the limo ride. I keep telling my son about the awards people are getting and he is getting excited and keeps saying I hope we get one.

It's nice to see the weather is warming up a bit. My mom lives in upstate NY she was telling me they have about 75 inches of snow. Not as cold as it has been here. She told me roads are closed and school has been closed all week. Times like this i'm glad I don't live there anymore.

I found the Haunted Mansion ride music and script. It makes me want to go even worse now. I know i'm going next month but I'm getting to excited now:banana:

Hi all!!

I'm up way too early too!! Been up for a little while now.
Lauren has been blowing her nose off and on all night, so I'm guessing she is coming down with a cold. I noticed her coughing on and off since yesterday too.

Her school even sent a letter home recently saying to please make sure your kids are bundled up and to keep them home if they are sick because so many kids are missing school including teachers.

This afternoon Lauren was supposed to go down the block to a friend's birthday sleepover party, but I'm not sure if I'll let her go.
I don't want her getting other kids sick. AND they have cats and she's very allergic, so it would only compound the problem. :(
I feel bad for telling her she can't go but.....what's a mom going to do?? :sad2:

slo It was really good to briefly see you yesterday! :goodvibes
And very nice to meet your mom too! :)

Leigh & Debbie I have cousin who also has suffered with epilepsy her whole life. It's under control now, but as a child the seizures were really bad.
PD to you Leigh and PD to Debbie's cousin! pixiedust:

Hersey Isn't upper state NY that got like 8 ft of snow?? CRAZY!!
Better them then us!! ;)

Disneynut Did you buy the HM cd?? I know there is one out there.

Upstate New york is where they have had in some areas over 100 inches of snow. It almost makes our cold bearable.

The dogs had me up early too, They don't understand the weekend is for sleeping in. I think today we are going to Ikea, I need to look for a new cover for my comforter.

We watched Open season last night. We thought it was pretty funny.

Bunchy I hope Lauren feels better I thought Alex was coming down with a cold. I gave him some Airbourne and so far no cold. Maybe it was just those darn sinus'.

Well got to go do the housework so I can go play today.

lisapezz -- Cool about the Limo ride. Congratulations!!!!

gerrific -- Good Luck with the pancake breakfast!!!
I hope the boys make a ton of money. :goodvibes When we were younger, my parents & I would go to one. It was always so good.

Bunchkin -- Raising my hand to say I'm tired of the cold/snow

Debbie -- Hugs to your cousin. Hopefully the seizures won't return. I have a family member that had to deal with them but has been off meds for awhile now with not too many problems. There are only slight problems if sleep deprived or not eating well but no seizures in years. In our particular case though, they were told they may outgrow it (they weren't sure).

We are basically being bums today! Woo-hoo!!! Other than DD wants to go to open gym & then her cheerleading class because tomorrow is our first gymnastics meet of the season! EEK! She wants to work on her routines. We will be heading to Oswego early tomorrow...we got the lucky straw I guess of the early morning session! Doors open at 8:15 AM. UGH! My DD is NOT a morning person, so that will be fun trying to make sure she's up in enough time to do her hair, etc...

I am excited to see how she does though because she was pretty good last year on some events & she is in the same level this year, which means she *should* get better scores, since she has a whole year under her belt and it's mostly the same routines they did last year. She does compulsoraries so everyone does the same routines.

Good morning, everyone & happy weekend! We went out to dinner last night and the hostess was asking us if it had warmed up any outside, and then shared the news about upstate NY having all that snow! Yikes...I suppose we shouldn't complain *too* much about the cold. <but I really don't like the cold>

Tonight is Stars on Ice...I really can't wait!

Is it time to start thinking about another Chicago group DIS meet yet? Maybe sometime next month? Maybe it will be warmer then!

Have a great day, all!:)

macraven - My SIL is learning what it takes to become a substitute teacher. If she has any questions about anything, I hope you don't mind if I ask you for some suggestions or answers :teeth:

Have a good day everyone!!!

give her my phone number or give hers to me, i will call and answer all her questions.

i have the at & t package where i can call long distance free.
if i call her, it will save her a nickel.......

i would be very happy to help her out.
my license qualifies me to teach in any state but california.

a very good saturday afternoon to all my chgoland homies!!!

just catching up on my emails and dear threads on the dis board today.

bunchkin, i am certified to teach K thru junior college level.

i stay with the jr. high levels but mostly with the high school level.
used to concentrate with lower grades but got sick of the littles as they bounced around all the time........lol
no really, just preferred the interactions with older students especially high school level and above.
i was a social worker for many years and went back to teaching when i was 40. got burned out in sw, very overwhelming at times. love teaching now and will stay with day work and usually one long term assignment per calendar school year.

that is the best way to be able to do the motherland each year. i can set the days i work and do my trips when i want to go.

hope you all have a great day.

I subbed for about 2 years or so before teaching Kindergarten for 12 years. I used to think I would go back to the classroom but now I have been debating about going back to subbing for the reasons you have said. I LOVED having my own classroom but think that maybe with little ones in school and the whole vacation thing it might be better to have more flexibility. I do remember though starting to dread the phone call in the AM. Also, the not knowing where I was going to be each day, started to get a little nerve racking. We will see. DS is still only 16 months so I don't feel ready yet to get back into it but I REALLY miss my paycheck! I am assuming you get insurance from your DH??? That is the only reason I could pull it off. Thanks for listening!

yes, insurance is through mr mac's work.

i prefer to sub than have a permenant classroom.
i get attached to the kids i have had and i like the variety each day.

the high school starts the calls at 5 am and the junior high starts calls at 6 am each morning.

when i am at the high school though before i check out for the day, i can pick up jobs in advance for the week for any openings and choose what subjects i want.
the sub clerk for the high school is one person and all she does is schedule subs full time. she is always accessible during the school day.

the sub clerk for the junior high building is contacted by phone only.
when she calls i can line up for additional days in advance also.
that sub clerk ususally calls me in the evenings though. i have some teachers that request me and those jobs i take right away.

i prefer working in the classes where i have the teacher request me by name

mac Thanks for all that info on subbing!
I had no clue some schools had a person whose job it is to schedule subs all day!! :)
That's nice that people request you! :thumbsup2

Debbie I didn't know that you were a teacher!! WOW!! Ya learn something new every day here! :teacher: :)

I just got done finishing putting together all the crafts for Lauren's class party on Wed.
And then I helped her get her Valentines and candies together too.

Not much else going on here since Lauren is sick. Poor kiddo!
Had to not only cancel going to that b-day party/sleepover, but also going to the movies with Grandma this morning. Hunter wasn't too happy about that. He was really looking forward to going to the movie.

Got a crockpot full of chili that just got done cooking and I need to make some corn bread muffins to go with them. YUMMY!! :goodvibes

Have a great night all!! :wave2:

Bunchkin, sorry to hear that Lauren is sick! Bummer about the day not working out as planned. I'm sure Hunter was disappointed. Poor lil guy! Chili sounds really good! We are just having chicken, but Dan is trying his hand at Lovie Smith's gumbo for later in the week. I gotta say, my house smells a little funny right now!

Megan and I played out in the snow today and I forgot how much fun that could really be. We were rolling around in it and goofing off. She threw a pile of snow in my face and I was was being a little rambunctious and I sorta whitewashed her a wee wee bit. Just a quick dunk of the face into the snow and she started crying. BOY DID I FEEL LIKE A JERK AFTER THAT!!

So, in order to make her feel better, I said watch Mommy will whitewash herself. I did it real good too! A good old snow scrubbin! She laughed and laughed. We played some more. We were out there for about 1 1/2 hours. Sheesh. It was fun though!

Actually, I'm a little tired right now. That cold takes it out of ya. We have to go tomorrow to Target to get some pictures developed and then buy some poster board. Megan has to choose four photos as her favorites from "camera" day a few weeks ago.

We bought a new mattress set today. I really hope it helps me sleep better. I got a decent deal on it and the guy threw in two of these Tempurpedic type pillows. They seem nice and are guaranteed to stay poofy for five years. Yeah, we'll see about that!! ;) It comes on Monday, so we only have two uncomfortable sleeps left. I made Dan get a little cushier one this time because too firm beds actually hurt more than anything else. So, we got a Simmons Beauty rest that is sort of half normal mattress and half with the foam that is the same as what Tempurpedic uses. With this new one, you get the cush, then you can feel the support kick in! I just hope we sleep better. I wake up every few hours as it is now!

So, here's to good sleep! And a long winter's nap.

Sam

Thanks for all the well wishes about my epilepsy. :goodvibes My doctor says I'm a big success story, so hopefully that will continue. :) I do have to get a note from my doctor whenever I renew my driver's license saying that my seizures are under control.

Sk8Leigh pixiedust: for you too I hope you stay seizure free. I remember when I was in grade school one of my friends had a seizure right in class. That was the first time I saw that kind of seizure. One of my Mothers cousins had seizures, her's were pretty well controlled.

I've never even seen one, because I've been the one having them. :confused3 But I did have the last one in the hallway in high school, between classes. I have no idea who saw me, but I'm sure it was a ton of people. The funny thing is, that there was this guy who always picked on me and drove me nuts, and when he found out I had epilepsy he actually started being nice to me, and the last few years he wasn't so bad! :rotfl:

Tonight is Stars on Ice...I really can't wait!

Is it time to start thinking about another Chicago group DIS meet yet? Maybe sometime next month? Maybe it will be warmer then!

How was Stars? My friend saw it last night in Auburn Hills, MI, and she enjoyed it. She also waited on Kyoko Ina at her part-time job at Origins (like a Bath & Body Works) the day before at the mall. She was buying something for a friend. (That mall is about the only place I've seen someone famous where I wasn't "supposed" to. I saw Michelle Kwan there once, and then another time I saw Dick Vitale, of all people.)

And I think a DIS meet would be great! How about that bowling meet??

And then I helped her get her Valentines and candies together too.

Not much else going on here since Lauren is sick. Poor kiddo!

I hope Lauren feels better!

Funny about the Valentines, I'm going through old cards and letters trying to throw stuff out (and I'm getting rid of some of them, although it's really hard!), and I have old Valentines that people gave me in elem. school. Some of them I hadn't even opened! And others I don't have a clue who the person was anymore.

It's so hard to get rid of the cards. I mean, a lot of it is family who aren't around anymore. But when I have a birthday card from every year, and some of them just say Love, Whoever, then how can I keep all of those? So I'm sorting by person, and then I'll save a couple from each if they didn't actually write a note.

We bought a new mattress set today. I really hope it helps me sleep better.

Hope the mattress helps! You'll have to let us know how it is. I have get a new mattress, and I have no idea what kind I should get! I'm thinking maybe a pillowtop, but I'm not sure.

I may go to La-Z-Boy tomorrow to see if I can pick out a sofa. I did get a letter today saying that my pre-settlement walk-through is March 9, and then my closing is March 16! That's soon! I have a lot of stuff I have to do!

Good morning everyone! Wow it's above zero.

We had a successful shopping experience at Ikea I found the bedding I wanted a a great price. Now to start my painting  too bad new furniture isn't in the forcast :sad2:

Sam Alex used to get mad at me when I through snowballs at him. Now the brat throws them back and actually gets me.:rotfl:

Bunchkin I hope Lauren feels better real soon.

Yesterday was such a wonderful family day :goodvibes
The ice show was fantastic!!! :thumbsup2 As Stephanie whispered to me during the show, "this show is better than the last show!!!!" I totally agreed with her ::yes::
Then we went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner, of which Stephanie was so excited about:yay: I told her we were going there to celebrate her passing her level 3 time test on Friday - she did alot of this :teeth: Then when we got to RFC the wait was over 30 minutes, so I told the girl taking the names that we were in the Safari Club in case that helps us out. She said it did, and we were seated immediately - how awesome!!!!!:woohoo: I told Kevin that I would buy it again just for that feature :thumbsup2

Today we are going to church, and then we are going back into the city with Kevin's parents. We are having dinner at Maggianos which makes me do a lot of this:goodvibes I love their Italian food!!!!!

Disneynut71 - Your mom has about 75 inches of snow  I wouldn't like that very much, but my girls would love that!!!!

Bunchkin - I'm so sorry to hear that Lauren isn't feeling well  How is she feeling today? Give her a hug from me
**Chili in a crock pot?! I would love that receipe - I love chili, and I've never heard of anyone doing it in a crock pot. I love using my crock pot - make it and leave it!!!! :thumbsup2

HERSEY - My dog used to get me up super early too on the weekends. Luckily, he loved this weather, and I would let him out and go back to bed. He would then go fall asleep on the back porch in the snow. I could never do that in the summer though, because he suffered in the heat because his coat was so hot.

Becky - Good luck to your DD today at her gymnastics meet :wizard:

Donna - Another DIS meet is a great idea :thumbsup2 We'll have to start shooting some ideas out ::yes::

Debbie - Thanks for the link :) That was fun to read and see the pictures.

Mac - Thanks!!!! :) I will let her know!!!!

Sam - How fun about you and Megan playing in the snow :goodvibes I just bought a new coat to play outside with the girls with (my coats weren't warm enough). The new coat is a mans down coat, and very boring, but that's okay, because I got it for 75% off on clearance:woohoo: I'll girl up the coat with some fun gloves, scarf and hat :cutie:
**How did you sleep last night on your new mattress?

Leigh - I'm so happy your doctor says you are a success story :) Here's alot of PD for you to continue being a success story :wizard:

Well, I'm off to make some breakfast
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Sandy Just so you know you dont have to renew the Safari club. It's a one time fee to sign up and good till the cows come home. I've had ours for 3 or 4 years now.
