Morning all.
BigBen sorry to hear about your car trouble. Hope it's not too much $$$
Mac-I can believe Oprah treats people that way. Although I enjoy some of her shows, it can be irritating when she always mentions stuff like "well it's only $250 for that Whatever, and if you can't afford that then... " I'm always like, well what kind of an idiot would pay $250 for that whatever anyway.
I went to one of her shows about 6-7 years ago. It was for new moms and had Maria Shriver on with her introducing the newest gadgets for babies. At the beginning of the taping the producers said if any of us had any questions on things we saw, to stand or raise hands and Oprah would recognize us during commercial breaks to answer our questions. It was when 3-D ultrasounds were just coming out. So I wanted to know if it was only used to diagnose problems if a regular ultrasound or level 2 ultrasound couldn't detect something or if insurance was going to cover them. They never even recognized anyone. And during commercial breaks, Oprah never talked to anyone but Maria. I found her to be rather rude as well.
DH and I went to a taping of Tonight Show, and Jay Leno was more friendly than Oprah. Much more down to Earth.
Celebrities are a group unto themselves. Real people could never understand them.:rotfl:
Well, I better get busy. I want to start the cleansing of DS room this week now that DD room is done.
Have a good day everyone.

I just made an ADR for my trip, dinner at San Angel Inn on May 25. :thumbsup2 :cool1: That was the only place we knew we wanted to eat, so I figured I should go ahead and do it since it's Memorial Day Weekend. But they were still pretty open.

Oh, and I did get my car back on Monday. They replaced the battery. Hopefully it needed it, but I really have no way of knowing. I have to take their word for it.

Hey All!!

I can't believe how cold it's been lately. Now I have a sinus infection, water in the ear thing and a bad headache. Fun times.

I'm down to 42 days till Disney and ordered my Disney Crocs today. I hear they are good to wear walking around down there so I hope it works.

I am looking to take several trips this year to Disney so I am thinking of buying annual passes. Now I heard that you can get discounts on hotels is this true? Are there anyother perks I would get by having an Annual Pass?

Thanks for all your help. Stay warm and take care:hippie:

Mac- I have heard bad things about Oprah, too. My only talk show host experiences were with Springer and Jenny Jones (classy, I know). It was years ago, but they were both pretty nice.
Bunchkin- Nice revamped profile/siggy! I hardly recognized you!
Mindy- You are so lucky to be going to NO. I have never been,m but I'd go just about any where warmer than here!
BigBen- Must be the day for vans to break! Mine lost heat and the engine temp skyrocketed. Luckily, I was near a gas station. My car is still there.
Slo- Glad Stephanie had fun. DS loves the snow, too. He had his little shovel out there! I am trying to train him right...
Crazy snow yesterday! I had decided to skip class, but my profs cancelled. Yay! I can't believe the kids here did not get out early. The roads were bad. I am so sick of this weather. Regular winter stuff is okay, but these temps are too extreme for me. My feet are constantly freezing. My sis is on her way back from FL. 75 degrees there today. Haha. She gets to come back to this!
Stay warm, everybody!

Not sure about the annual pass, but I left it in the quote because I'm interested too.

About the Disney Crocs though... They are supercomfortable and you will be able to wear them through the park the whole day and it feels like you are walking on air. Your feet won't sweat and the shoes are so lightweight. The "mechanics" of them are great too. Great arch support and nice large toe-box which promotes really comfy walking!

You'll be happy you spent the $$ on these! Crocs Rule!

My parents were here today since I had to take DD to the orthodontist & we were just talking about this. I told my parents, from what I understand, they will NOT let schools out early if they don't cancel. Too hard to get the information to all the parents, etc... & they usually end up with kids sitting at school until regular dismissal time anyway.

I know yesterday they cancelled all after-school activities and apparently the teachers got to go home right after all the students had left. I only know this because DD was in choir (her last class of the day) and her teacher did a "YES" type of thing when they announced it. :lmao: Then he composed himself and basically told the kids to pretend they didn't see that. :lmao: I could definitely see her choir teacher doing something like that, it fits his personality.

Of course, what does my 10 year old Cub Scout group do? They had scheduled to visit a retirement home & they still went. I was just glad I hadn't offered to drive.

At least the roads are clear tonight. It's still too cold for my blood though.

Your sister is going to be in for a rude awakening isn't she? This is one reason I really don't ever want to go to FL in the wintertime. The fact that I would have to come back to cold weather. YUCK!!! At least when we do it in the summertime, we are coming back to what feels about the same temperatures. There are reasons I could think of but then I keep thinking "but then I'd have to come back to the cold" and I think my body would revolt on me.

I usually get the Annual pass. Sometimes you get a discount on the room, just like the other discounts it depends on the room type, time of year, yadda yadda. Also with the pass you can buy a dining card for discounts up to 20% at some the restaurants some are counter.

Annual Passes

We've had them before. And we've gotten a room discount with them.
Also have gotten 10% off at World of Disney store in DTD and at several other locations.
You can purchase the Disney Dining Experience card, that Hersey mentioned, with your Annual Pass. This allows a discount of 20% off your total bill at mostly any restaurant in WDW except for booze.
You also will get a quarterly mailer with info. including special invites to annual passholder events. We took advantage of the one they had for when Stitch's Great Escape opened. We got to experience with before the general public and got special pins too.

Check out Mousesavers.com or allearsnet.com for more info on annual pass benefits!! :thumbsup2

I just looked at my ticker for Disneyland and I was totally not aware of just how close I am to going there!!!

WOOHOOOO!!! :cool1:

The kids are really excited to be going to both Vegas (to see their grandparents) and to Disneyland (and also to see their aunt and uncle who live near by).

Their aunt and uncle have horses and a ........donkey!!! :rotfl:
Hunter keeps wondering if it will have a tail like Eeyore!! :lmao:

Hi Everyone…

Just trying to get over this weather… I think of you guys all the time but am trying not to spend too much time at the computer. Bby the time I’m done reading my “computer me time” seems to be over leaving me no time to respond.

Speaking of Oprah…did you guys see the show on “clutter” today? I rarely watch the show but I did today when I saw what it was about. Well, my house absolutely is not that bad but I could relate to her way of thinking…… WOW! I would love some free assistance like that but on the other hand I know I would be hyperventilating over people wanting me to throw stuff out!

Also, have you guys been reading on the DIS about people getting postcards offering 40% off discount codes and pins? I want that card!!!!!!! What’s the deal??????

Let’s see what else have I been meaning to talk to you guys about…

I was actually considering going to WDW at the beginning of March but haven’t seen any good airfare. I have to get away from this winter tundra! I am so crabby that I need my WDW therapy. Hibernating just isn’t happening…...like others have said, we have those kids who have to go to school and eat…..whatever!
Thanks for listening…

Debbie

what she said.. AP do save you money in discounts etc plus it is cheaper than a MYW pass after ( I think the breakeven is 6 or 7 days..)

i kept up on that thread of the 40% off with the postcard/pin number.

many booked without the pin number and some posted that they received a call from disney reservations letting them know if they do not bring the card with them, they will have to pay rack rate.

one of the threads was closed by the mods last week. too many holier than thou postings............and some were angry that the ones without the pin number got the discount.....sour grapes posting then.

Well you know they did recently update their website, so what I did was went on the new website, www.disneyparks.com, updated my profile a little, and resubmitted it. I also sent away for another trip planning video. They are free and it gets my name back on another mailing list over there! I'll be expecting my card any day now!!

Woohoo!! :cheer2:

Just kidding. I am hoping to get some type of card, someday!

Been there..... done that..got the new DVD.....

Hi all :wave2:

I'm stopping by for a quick hello before I get the girls ready for bed:cutie: :cutie:

geffric - I bet you were surprised to see b-day wishes for you when it wasn't your b-day :teeth: I saw what OF posted and I immediately joined in on the b-day fun  Happy birthday to Scott though - I hope he had a good b-day!!!! :cool1:

Mindy - I have never been to New Orleans. I hope you have some nice temps when you are down there :sunny:

HERSEY - :wave2:

Bunchkin - I wish Stephanie wanted no part of the snow, but she loves it!!! She was out in it again today  I told her that I was sorry to not go out with her, but it is just to cold for me :cold:

bigben - I'm so sorry to hear about your car:guilty: :wizard:

Sam - :wave2:

Tiggerrnn - Doesn't sound like your Oprah show experience was any fun:sad2: I used to want to go to one of her shows a long time ago, but not anymore :sad2:

Leigh - Congrats on your ADR and getting your car fixed!!! :woohoo:

Disneynut - I"m sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well:guilty: Sending lots of get well PD your way:wizard:

paintnolish - I'm glad your classes were cancelled so you could get a nice break from school for a night:yay:

Becky - Our schools are the same way ::yes:: It would have to be a real emergency for our schools to dismiss early.

Debbie - I'm sorry that winter is bringing you down:guilty: I'll send you some cheer you up PD right away!!!:wizard:

macraven - How's your son doing in Mexico? Have you heard from him?

Well, I'm off - have a good night tonight everyone!!!

We got one card ages ago. But at the time we couldn't really use it based on the dates the discount was effective.

A lot of it has to do with geographical marketing I've heard.

But really, who knows!!!! :confused3

Like you Debbie, we spend tons of loot at/on everything Disney related. Got the new DVD. Etc, etc, etc........at nauseum.

I glanced at those threads too. But don't get involved.
And I for one would not try to dupe WDW, because I would for sure be the one who would be asked for the post card....everytime!!

I don't even buy into the threads where people spend all day guessing about issues like if free dining will or will not be offered. These people really don't have clue just like I don't have a clue. If it happens, it happens. And if it doesn't.........I'm still gonna go to WDW!!!:lmao: :cool1:  :hippie:

I guess my problem is I hate the thought of someone getting a deal that I could have gotten but missed!
I guess that pertains to everything with me!:rotfl2:

How is everyone this fine, -3 degrees morning? :cold:
You would think I would be used to this by now, but I'm not:sad2:

Today I have to work at the frame store, and then tonight it's just me and the girls. Kevin and his dad are going to the Auto Show tonight (this is the black tie night, and Kevin and his dad go every year), so I'll have to let you know what they say about this years Chicago Auto Show :)

Well, I best get going and get ready for work
I hope everyone has a great day today!!!

Hey everyone - I agree I still can't get used to this cold! dh keeps telling me that I don't need to warm the car up for 20-30 minutes every time I go out...but brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Slo - Mike's going to the auto show tonight too! His bank actually bought him a tux to go...Does Kevin go every year? This is the first time Mike's going tonight. I was originally supposed to go too. But there was just no way I could find a babysitter on a school night to stay out that late. That's ok I bought Cinderella3 yesterday, the girls & I are going to have a movie night!

stay warm everyone!!!!!
