Chic Fil A helping out

I think that it's the right thing to do, it could be a PR stunt or they could just be doing that because they have grown from their past mistakes.
Chic-fil-a has had a lot of issues in the past with the LGBT community so it is only natural for those who are in the community to question their motives, and it wasn't just because of the CEO saying he didn't support gay marriage it was also other issues that people were very upset about.

Really?? Are you guys still debating this??

MG

I haven't made one comment with my opinion one way or another on this subject and I'm not going to now. I'm not saying this to be disrespectful with you asking about whether some are still debating this? My suggestion though for you is this is not like Hotel California, you can check out anytime you want and leave. :confused3

In the days after Dan Cathy said what he did, tw LGBT community had a boycott CFA day. Those whose supported CFA came out in droves and they made the most money in one day they ever have. It did not affect their bottom line.

What CFA did did more for those suffering in Orlando with their action than any of the thousands of problem changing their profile picture to #OrlandoStrong and posting "prayers" on Facebook. Those are meaningless actions that do nothing to help the community. Zero.

What were the other issues? I just heard about the gay marriage one which doesn't bother me. I have lots of friends who believe in traditional marriage but they don't hate gay people.

I think part of the issue was that they were also contributing a lot of money to causes that were working to stop the legalization of same-sex marriage. I don't remember all the details of what/who CFA donated to, but donate they did. It's one thing to believe in traditional marriage and not believe in same-sex marriage; it is quite another thing to be a wealthy corporation and donate money to stop equal rights. There's the difference.

It doesn't look to me like CFA did anything. It was two individual franchise owners. It's too bad that their kindness is becoming PR for this organization.

It looks like CFA hasn't donated to these groups since 2012:

You are right but the owners still have to abide by guidelines set forth from corporate. If corporate didn't want them donating(which I think would be bad to recant) they would not be able to. If they did it without approval they run the risk of losing their business.

Chik Fil A has been the first to step up in so many areas during snowstorms, tornado clean up, locally after the death of two city police officers-some how I don't think all of this is done without the knowledge of the corporation. It happens too often in too many areas.

I am not sure why it is so hard to give credit where credit is due. You don't have to agree with everything someone believes in to be able to say "hey that was a nice thing to do".

People were sure quick to try to hurt the individual stores through boycotts because of what the leaders had said. They would say because of the corporate culture they all must agree.

Now some people fail to give credit to that corporate culture that was such that two owners sought to serve there fellow man and woman.

Chik Fil A Operators/Owners did a nice thing. Hat's off to them. When I was at MCO last week, The Chik Fil A at Terminal A food court had a line of about 15 people. All other restaurants had no line at all. Their food is just that good.

Good for Chik Fil A.
Also, good for Papa Johns, who brought pizzas.
And several big box stores who pulled popups off their floors and put them over the people waiting in line, so they'd have shade.
And every person who donated blood.
Every person who donated money (one drive had over $3M in less than 3 days)
Every person who sent items via Amazon Prime Now (so many did, they ran out of water at the shipping location!) to the local blood banks. (People were sending snacks, juice and water to bump up the supply so the centers would have enough.)
Everyone who sent a good thought, or made a prayer.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. Doesn't make you right or wrong...everyone is entitled to their own values and beliefs.
It's what you do with those beliefs that can be right or wrong. i.e. bombing people because they are a different religion, stoning women to death because they weren't covering their heads in public, shooting up a nightclub because you disagree with their lifestyle.

I teach my kids "do the right thing". It might not be necessarily the right thing for you, but the right thing for the world. Clean up the trash someone else left because it's the right thing to do for the enviroment. Comfort your classmate who doesn't like you when they fall and get hurt because in that moment, it's the right thing to do for them. If everyone in the world would stop and "do the right thing" to help someone else out once a day, how much better would this world be?

And the service. I've NEVER not had good service at one.
Don't get me wrong, I could eat their chicken minis all day long. Get some plastic cheese to dip them into and I'm in heaven.
But I keep coming back because I can go, get a smile even on a bad day, and my order is always right.

My son works for Chick-Fil-A and the "service" mentality is a big deal in their training, down to what words they use to respond to you.

What Mr. Cathy ( he started Chick-fil-A) said was that he believed in.. was traditional marriage...his thoughts on what traditional marriage is for him. he stated that this was his personal and religious belief. Here in the US we have the right to freedom of religion, personal beliefs without persecution. We have the right to believe in or not believe in something... we can choose here in the United States. So whether you agree or not... its his right. That's what the 1st amendment states " Prohibits impeding the free exercise of religion"

Marriage is about 2 people who love each other and commit to that.. So for me that's the definition traditional marriage. By the way, I am woman married to the man of my dreams.. I hope everyone can find the person of their dreams.

Just because someone doesn't believe like you do ... Doesn't mean that they are wrong.. They just believe differently than you... WE all should be more accepting of each other. With what has been happening here and a across the world.. Maybe we should band together and stop worrying about what consenting adults do behind closed doors, and put our energy into protecting each other. We need to focus on child hunger, homeless families, child abuse, domestic violence, the environment, terrorism both here and a broad, the list goes on and on.

It all boils down to respect... If I respect your point of view ... in turn you should respect mine... I am not saying we have to agree but mutual respect will go along way.

For me and my family, We support whoever and whatever makes you happy................Love who you Love........be You...

Peace, Love and Pixie Dust
