I was in the hoops building on the third floor. The yard looked just like this. I blame myself though because I should of booked preferred but the standard was offering a discount. I have always stayed at Sports and no problems. These kids made the POP Warner kids look like angels.

Maybe the fact that they're doing at a theme park (as opposed to at a competition) as well as the fact that they're doing it on a hard surface, which I doubt is a safe place to do it?

Just confused about where they were performing. Now I get it. For some reason I thought that was all star music.

I was there for the same comps earlier this year (not part of the group, just on vacation) and you saw them around but they weren't disruptive or causing long waits at rides...that I saw anyway. Though, during torrential downpours at AK I saw about 40 for them in line for a resort bus (CBR I think?). I was just glad I wasn't in line behind them or staying at that resort. Everyone was soaking wet and I would have cried if we couldn't get on the bus.
There were plenty of chanting Brazilian tour groups around though. We just would go in the opposite direction. I guess that's a topic for another thread though! All in all the crowds weren't bad at all. Now with Mardi Gras during the same time this coming year I would have concerns. We pushed our trip back a week this time just in case.

This happened to us one year. The kids were fine in the parks but it was the noise levels at the hotel that drove us crazy. They started very early and stayed up very late. I was a teenager myself at the time and I couldn't even stand it. If you can avoid the value resorts and you won't even notice they are there. If not, ask to be placed in a different section and it might alleviate some of the noise.

April is Worlds (All Star cheer), minimum age to compete is 12, some are in their 30's. They are teenagers and young adults who travel from all over the world to compete. Because it is a very expensive competition, in addition to travel costs, not all kids are accompanied by a parent. You might have just their coaches and one or two parents per team. POP Warner (recreational/sideline cheer) are kids, mostly 14 and under with nearly all kids having a parent present.

Yes, they dress in Nike Pros and Sports bras almost everywhere they go. My daughter lives in hers. Although, usually in the mall she might have a t-shirt over her sports bra. I often stop and run errands and it is very common and no issue for our cheerleader daughters to accompany us into publix, etc. in just Nike Pros and t-shirts. Nothing inappropriate about it. I suppose if you live in colder states you will not see it as often. As we live in Florida, no one pays it any attention here. You have people on their way to/from the beach, waterpark, etc. and stop into stores in beachwear.

Seriously,the Parks are big so it's not like every time you turn your head there will be a Cheerleader.

HOWEVER,The Fifteens will be there also,so you may see either a Cheerleader OR a Fifteen every time you turn your head!!!!

I LOVE THIS PICTURE! It keeps getting posted here over and over. It's an awesome picture! I hope Orlando Allstars (now Top Gun Orlando) has a copy. Orlando All Stars use to have "Welcome to our backyard" in their music for Worlds. I thought that was so cute, since these girls are Orlando locals. Top Gun bought out Orlando Allstars so they are now Top Gun Orlando.

I'm a cheer mom and a Disney fanatic! We go to Disney at least 10 times a year! Personally I am super bummed our team doesn't stay at sports, looks like fun, I can agree though I'd be a little sad if it wasn't disclosed to be during a once in a lifetime or once ever 5 year family vacation.... The hotels are the only big issue, I've never noticed them at the parks...many teams don't even get park time during comps...

We were in Disney at the end of January/beginning of February this year. It was a long trip so we were lucky enough to enjoy the company of the national dance team competitions AND the national cheerleading teams on subsequent weekends. I'm not going to lie...we thought they were most certainly noticeable in the parks. We did encounter some really, really long lines at some attractions when group after group entered the queue...Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and Expedition Everest. BUT...I certainly wouldn't change any plans due to it. Between them and the other tourist groups there, it was just something to deal with at Disney. Even being giggly and taking 1,001 selfies they were fun to be around for the most part (except for the one group of girls on Big Thunder who insisted on filming the entire ride with multiple phones (with flash) while screaming non-stop at the top of their lungs...somehow my son and I got seated in the middle of this group.) Then again, my son is 17, and they are very pretty girls... Not all bad, I guess.

I have been at several competitions this season and was worried about loud cheerleaders at each hotel we went to (mainly due to what I always read on here about the loud cheerleaders).
There was never once an issue at any of the hotels I stayed!
Biggest one was Cheersport Nationals... So how come all these "crazy cheerleaders" are only loud at Disney? (I am seriously asking this question).

As a parent of an AllStar cheerleader that would attend such an important competition (world/summit)... My kid would NOT be in the parks (less impact as I am sure lots of parents agree with my POV).

However you can expect a Monday or Tuesday to be busier as lots of people tag on a few days after a competition. During the weekend I wouldn't expect too big of an impact.

I have been during Pop Warner twice and I will never go during a cheer competition. I found the kids to be unsupervised, and generally speaking - just awful.

We arrived at the tail end of the competition at the beginning of May last year: I think it was The Summit. We were at POP and as soon as we walked in we looked at each other and said "Oh NO." We had no idea and we'd never seen the lobby that crowded. After being at ASMu in March 2009 with a really rude group of cheerleaders (who took pride in screaming on the buses to their mothers' encouragement), we were really worried, but the Summit cheerleaders weren't too bad. We saw them a lot at the hotel, but at the parks everyone dispersed and we hardly saw them at all. Honestly, most of the young teenagers that were there were sunbathing at the pool. And we only really knew because they all had matching backpacks.

I am pretty sure that they have the opportunity to extend their stay an extra day or so to enjoy the parks, so we saw them out of competition time. (Definitely makes a difference.) Apart from one incident of chanting a really annoying song in the Haunted Mansion, we never had any terrible inconveniences.

They will likely be noticeable, but the odds that they will heavily affect your trip are really slim. I wouldn't worry about it personally: I was relieved to see that there aren't any going on on our trip this year, but I wouldn't have rescheduled or anything.

Last year we stayed at POP during the The Summit competition. POP is one of the resorts that the competitors stay at. Really the only time we ever noticed them was anytime we went to the food court.

They had a separate line at the Magical Express at MCO for regular vacationing families and for the competitors so we didn't even ride the same magical express to the resort (We arrived the same day most of the competitors do)

We would occasionally see them at the different parks during the day, but we never had a problem with them at all. They were very well-behaved. Even sharing the same resort as them was no deal at all. We are heading back this year during the same dates and staying at POP again so it didn't deter us away by any means.

When I was in Jr. High and High School, I participated in competitions at Disney World as a cheerleader.

With that being said, trust me when I say this...choose Deluxe. We were awful. And the girls in the other squads were awful. I would not want to share a hotel with my teenage cheerleading self and my mob of cheerleading friends lol

Maybe Disney has gotten stricter on their rules for how these groups must act, but back in the early 2000s when I was there, it was a free-for-all and we were never fully clothed lol

Between sports, and cheer, and dance, and bands, etc., etc there are basically large groups of kids at WDW all year round. Other than the hotels, we haven't noticed them much and as others have pointed out - if you can avoid the values you should be OK.

Anyone know dates for April Cheerleading? The only issue we ever had was knocking on doors at 1am...that sucked.
