checking into 2 hotels?

Hi, odd question here - what better group of people to ask?

I will be checking into the Pop Century on 10/24 - leaving on 10/29. HOWEVER, I am also booking a night at the BLT on 10/25, for a special night where I will propose to my girlfriend (i am wasting a night at pop and our room will be empty - less hassle than checking out and checking back in.) I am wondering, is it possible to check into a different hotel from another hotel - so, can i check into BLT from Pop? I'm sure I can't...but I just want to be sure.

If my hunch is correct, and I can't check in from Pop - how do you check in at BLT? Do they have a standard check in area - or do I check into BLT from the desk at the contemporary?

Thanks for your help!

You will have to head over to the CR to check in. You will check in in the lobby of the CR, the same as if you were checking at CR. Are you planning a surprise for her???? How absolutely wonderful. You could tell her that you are going over to check it out. Too bad you have to head back to POP the next day. But, you're going to have one very magical night at BLT. Good luck!!!

thank you! yes, its a surprise. we have dinner at the GF for 6:50, after that I'll bring her over to CR. I'll tell her to wait by the side while I secretly check in, but I'll tell her I'm just asking about fireworks viewing. Then poof :) We'll head over, go up to the room - relax on the balcony, watch the fireworks and I will propose :)

not looking forward about heading back to pop the next day, but ...one magical night is all we need

I'm not sure how the Online Check in process works in this particular situation, but I would try to check in online for BLT. This way you can simply run out and pick up the package rather than having to possibly get stuck at a check in line. If you try to manually check in at BLT you run the risk of hitting a time where ME just dropped off a load of people and it could take you awhile (which I'm sure would be noticable to your future fiance).

You will have 2 separate hotels booked for the same night...leaving one empty? Hmmmmm....a CM told me I couldn't do that and if I tried, the system would pick my name up as having double resort booking. I wanted to book Por 2-9 and CR 8-9.

Call the concierge at CR. Ask for help with the timing and such. They should be able to help you conquer the details, especially if you let them in on the surprise.

Congratulations!

PP is correct this can be a problem.

We had them empty one of the rooms of our possessions when we had a double booking. (we did get everything back)
I have heard similar stories. Room key with dining plan deactivated, they were checked out of the room even though there were a number of days left.

I think your biggest risk is the Pop reservation.

If possible have different lead names & addresses on the reservation.

I would let Pop know that you will be away one night and I would leave the 'Do not disturb card' on the door.

I had this same question. We are checking into ASSports on 9/28 for 7 nights with free dining and park tickets. I got a great deal on renting points at BLT for the first 2 nights (surprise for my son) so my name will also be checked in there, just room only no charging or anything. I thought we would be okay, but now not so sure.

Do you all suggest that I am up front with ASSports and tell them that we are staying at another resort for 2 nights so that I don't lose my package?

Does it matter that my second booking is DVC rented points?

Thank you!

You might be ok if the DVC is in the owners name, not yours. However, still, your situation would be wrong in Disney's eyes. I was told it is definitely against the rules to book 2 rooms at the same time and leave 1 empty...or even book off-site and leave Disney room empty. I guess many folks do this to benefit from FD, magic hours, etc. Good reason the campsites are exempt from FD.

I wanted to book one at FD and the other at 40%... and planned to let my brother/family stay in the empty room. They said the room/kttw card must be in their name...thus I couldn't have 2 resort bookings at the same time or system would see it. I wasn't about to take the chance of anything bad happening.

:scared1: Whew! That would be scary to come back to an empty room or even have them cancel out my FD, 40%, etc!

Don't worry, Disney is filled with beautiful areas for you to pop the question! You will come up with something amazing! Best wishes!

Well great...I hadn't thought there would be anything wrong with this. I'm definitely going to have to rethink my plans. I would hate to have something go wrong just because I was being stupid!

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand why Disney would care if you're paying for the same night at two different hotels. They get the $$ regardless, and it's not like they do a bed check to make sure you actually stay in the room.

OP, your idea is incredibly romantic, don't give up too easily! Call reservations, explain that you're more than willing to pay for both rooms and you just want to make sure there are no problems with your Pop reservation. Or, put your BLT reservation in your middle name to be sure! :goodvibes

Good luck and enjoy your magical night!

Disney doesn't want people booking rooms and not staying in them period-- they want you in the room, spending $$ at the hotel/parks.

In the travel industry it is considered unethical to book something specifically not use it. Like you can't buy a round trip air ticket because its cheaper than one way, and just not use one leg of the trip.

I would not give up on it. It sounds like a lovely idea.

Your risk is with the Pop room so I would let them know what you are planning and as them how best to handle it.

Given your situation I am sure they will facilitate it.

Its a lovely idea and given your situation, just explain your dilemma to the reservationist (BEFORE you leave for Disney). I have always understood that you cannot book two rooms in your own name through Disney.

Some alternatives to booking a second room. Make a Dinner Reservation at California Grill for near fireworks time (i.e., if Fireworks are at 9, make ressies at 8 p.m.). Or, book a ressie at OHana at the Poly then walk out on the beach at the Poly and watch the fireworks there. . .beaches are great places to propose. Another alternative would be to book a wishes dessert party and then propose during the fireworks.

There are many options. . .personally, a proposal anywhere in WDW would be magical, I believe. Congratulations.

Even if you check with reservations ahead of time, I would not trust that someone else wouldn't go back and cancel the reservation. We all know how we can be told 5 different things by 5 different CMs.

I think your ideas of either doing a really nice dinner or proposing by a beach are good ones. The Poly beach during fireworks would be very romantic, and then you wouldn't have to worry at all about your resort reservation being messed up.

So here's an update...

I called the reservation line and explained to the CM my plan. First, he chuckled and snidely said, "why would you pay for a room one night, and not use it." so... i elaborated and explained my proposal idea and he said, "OH, well that makes sense."

He then went on to tell me I couldn't do it without major risk on my original reservation.... then he put me on hold for a minute because he wanted to check something... Then he came back and said, "oh it will be ok - lets take that reservation." i told him no thanks, i need to look into it more before i can decide.

right now we have dinner reservations at the GF for 6:45. My original idea was to finish up there. go to CR and check in, then head over to BLT (all the while telling my girlfriend, "oh someone from the DISboard is going to help and give us a great place to watch the fireworks.) then surprise her with the room, watch the fireworks...yadda yadda yadda.

but now i'm thinking, maybe after dinner at the GF, go out to the beach and propose -- BUT -- Hire a photographer to catch the moment. is this doable? thoughts?
