This may seem like a dumb question but here it is anyway... we are renting points to stay in a studio at BCV, when we check in, will they need to know this or do they know this or what? I have a copy of the reservation and it has my name onit- do I need to take this? Anyone know the procedure?

I would certainly take your confirmation letter. The member you rented from should have informed DVC that the reservation is a rental. It should do no harm for you to mention it, but it isn't necessary.

Have a Great trip!

Enjoy the new resort!

You have the reservation paper with your name on it, that's all you need. As far as Disney is concerned, you have paid for your stay in advance, they don't care how you did it. Points are the same as cash, you see, so just go up to the check in desk, hand them your paper, and they will take it from there. The crucial bit of info is that YOUR name is on the paper, not anyone else's. Your name MUST be on the ressie for everything to go smoothly. Enjoy!

Thanks, I wasnt sure how that would work. We are really looking forward to going and staying at BCV, time cant go quick enough!!!!!

I rented points this past Jan before we bought into DVC. The check-in procedure is as simple as checking in at any hotel, tell the desk who you are and that you need to check in, and they take it from there. It is always good to have the confirmation number, or the confirmation letter (even better) in case of any problems with them finding your ressie by your name.

After I said who I was they went ahead and asked about credit card for charging to your room. and then asked me if I wanted the Length of stay passes and wether I needed to drop the check in and/or check out days.

Mike

They let you drop the check out day? LOS passess may be good for us this trip then because I know we can get there early the first day cause we are spending a couple days at US first. Our flight home though is early thoughso we wont need passess for our last day. Thanks

wheatenwalker, if you are purchasing LOS passes, please compare those prices to the prices for an annual passport for those same family members. After a certain period of time annual passes become more cost effective, especially if you are planning on returning within a year. On top of that, annuals have several other benefits, such as access to the passholders' lounge above the Land in Epcot, special viewing areas, and member discounts. While I won't go into them here, a nifty one for this summer is a special at Animal Kingdom Lodge for $127 per night. I wanted a vacation but not enough points, so I split between pts at OKW and paid nights at AKL. It can be very worthwhile, and only one person needs the annual in order to access the benefits.

MikeScott8- just curious - did you purchase the UPH and did you get the DVC 10% discount on them? We're renting pts for BWV in Aug and have decided on UPH without last day and I read a post once that someone was given the DVC ticket discount even though they were renting points - I have DC discount (5%), but every little bit helps.

Yes I did purchase the UPH passes and I was given the DVC discount, although I did not ask for it. I was not supposed to get it as I was renting points, but I did.

thanks, mike - I'll have to see what they offer me and have my DC card standing by.
