Just want to clarify to make sure I have this straight. If I want to bring my two bottles of wine, I have to check it obviously for my flight. But it has to be in my carry on at the port. So I should NOT let Disney collect my bags at the airport but instead, claim them when we arrive, take out the wine, and then bring our luggage to the Magical Express for transportation to the port.

Is this correct?

You only need to collect one of your bags (the one you pack the wine in). The others you can put the DCL luggage tags on before checking in for your flight. Those will go direct from the plane to the ship. You claim the one bag with the wine in it, put the wine in your carry on bag, and then put the DCL luggage tag on the checked bag to turn over when you check in for the DCL transfers (not Magical Express).

See
@PrincessShmoo for the way to do it.

Now going in reverse, let's say you buy some alcohol duty free, or something at one of the ports. You cannot pick up your alcohol until the final morning of the cruise (disembarkation day). If your airline participates in onboard check in, you can still use it BUT YOU MUST KEEP ONE BAG from going to the airport automatically. You need to either place it in the hall without the airport tag on it (so you can pick it up once you get off the ship) or keep it in your room and you walk off with it. Once you put your wine in your untagged luggage you can give it to the Disney Express guys to put under the bus. Then you claim it once you reach the airport terminal and proceed to the check in counter.

Those options are the only way in which you will have checked luggage in which to put your purchased alcohol in for the return flight.

Thank you! I didn't even think about the return flight! And that does make sense to just keep one bag not tagged. You guys are the best! But I seriously miss the days where you could just stop at Publix on the way to the Port and fill up your cooler - no questions asked!
