check in experiences OKW vs SSR

OKW is our home resort and we usually stay there. But this year we had my in-laws joining us and OKW didn't have room. So we decided to check out SSR and all stay at the same place. We enjoy seeing all the other resorts so this was fun.
But our check in day went very differently at SSR than we have experienced at OKW. And I am curious if this is due to the day of the week or just a different resort or something else.
We usually arrive on a Sunday and check in. Often our room is already ready when we check in (which is always early) and when its not, it always ready before the official time of 4pm. So, I know I am a bit spoiled in that :)
This has been the case for us both when we travel on our own and when others are with us.

We spent the week prior on the Magic so we arrived at the resort mid morning Saturday and checked in. Neither room was ready, which was what I was expecting. So we went about our day. We called a couple times as the afternoon wore on just to see if either room was ready and they weren't. Still no big deal as we knew we were early. Then we called at 4:10 and they still weren't ready. So we went to an early dinner at the Turf Club... which was great by the way. We called once mid dinner and they were still not ready. When we had finished eating we walked down to the front desk and both rooms were ready. This was soo different from what I have experienced at OKW.
Hubby thought checking in on Saturday instead of Sunday may play a part in how busy housekeeping is. We are just curious how its gone for others.

We enjoyed our stay at SSR. Kids loved the play areas. And it worked out great with our in-laws.
Thanks,

Glad to hear that you have had luck checking in early on Sundays at OKW. We will be arriving around 10:00 and if the room was ready, that would be a wonderful way to start the trip.

I have never waited that long for SSR. Have waited longer at BCV, but often at SSR I get my room pretty early. So I don't think it's the norm.

I had to wait at SSR once but I got in at like 10:30am but I figured that, so we had plans to go to AK once we ditched the bags at Bell service. Made the call at 3:30 ish and it was ready.

I had a problem at VB last Easter, my room wasn't ready at 6pm, they ended up switching me to a different 2br. I had to sit on hold for about 15 minutes after I told them this is unacceptable, they gave me a different room.

Fingers crossed that won't happen again this Easter.

Of all the WDW DVC resorts that we stay at, SSR has always been the latest check in for us. We always stay at Congress Park and we always have a 1 or 2 bedroom.

We haven't experienced problems with check in but we generally arrive on a Wednesday or Thursday rather than the week end. Glad that you enjoyed your stay as SSR has lots of neat areas for the kids.

We have always received a room right when we checked in at SSR, even this last time when we requested a special view.

It may be luck or it may be due to us renting a car and not getting dumped on the SSR doorstep with 50 others at the same time by ME.

The last tiem we used ME we were one of the first off the bus by luck and first in line to check-in. While we got a room right away I could hear the others in line being told that they would have to call-in to see when their room would be ready.

As for check-in days and times::
We usually ge to the resort around 11 to 1 and either arrive on a Saturday or Sunday.

Our one and probably only trip to BWV (just not our cup of tea, too much of a hotel feel), we did have to wait but only about an hour to an hour and a half.
