Cheap Eating tips, please?

My family will be heading to WDW in early February and I refuse to pay the price for an in-room refrigerator. Instead we asked my mom for the Coleman 40-Quart Thermoelectric Cooler With Power Supply (you can get them at Wal-Mart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...=4125&product_id=895623&path=0:4125:4138:5164 for a really good price) I'll be leaving it in its orginal box and checking it with my luggage. We're planning on getting milk, juices & sodas, bread, deli meats, jelly, etc... and doing the breakfast thing in the morning. One of us can feed the kids as the other showers--it will save time also!! This cooler will also be perfect for getting groceries home--I live far enough from my local grocery store that on warm days or heater days my frozen foods start to thaw; this cooler will come in handy. They are very affordable & can be used for many other things! You might want to check out eBay for a slightly used one for less money! One thing I always find when we're at Disney is we tend to eat way more than we need to! The food is always sooo tempting--just keep asking yourself if you're REALLY hungry--if the answer is no then save the money and don't order for the sake of it!!

Have a great time on your trip! :earsgirl:

Susie Bee,
That is what we have, we bought ours at a Walmart store (not online), but the same thing. We just love it! We use it in the van on our trip to WDW for drinks and snacks. Then we use it in the hotel during our stay. Last year, we went on the cruise and while we were gone I packed up our videos in plastic and left them in the fridge (not running of course) and it kept the tapes from getting to hot (also threw blanks over it to add more protection).

We have used this little fridge so much. It has been a great investment. On Thanksgiving, when I have too much food, I even use it for 'over flow' until the left overs go down.

CiCi's Pizza has opened a new location recently in Lake Buena Vista, about half a mile from Downtown Disney. All you can eat pizza, salad, pasta, and dessert for $3.99 a person. It's pretty good! :)

I would NEVER buy the pizza at the hotel. It is overpriced and mediocre, at best.
If you plan to eat at the food court area, buy the souvenier mugs as they are pay once, refill the entire stay.
Lastly, if you are interested in venturing offsite for dining, purchase the Orlando Entertainment book. You can also log onto www.restaurant.com, then scroll down to the eBay icon. Click on that, then the state of Florida on the map. It will show you different restaurants that are auctioning gift certificates for cheap. GC typically are $25 and you can get them for less than $5. Not all restauarants are on the site, but you may be able to get a few decent meals for a considerable savings.
HTH.

I second Cici's pizza. They also have a takeout deal "Six slices and salad" for $3.99. You get to pick 6 slices from the different kinds of pizza they have out and fill up a good sized salad container. A couple of nights we got two orders to take back to the room and that was plenty for our family of 4, and really cheap at $8.50 (after tax). It's also nice because we each like a different kind of pizza!

Can anyone offer an address of this place? Sounds great! Also love the sound of the "six slice and salad" deal. Since DH is on Atkins he would get the salad and the kids and I would get the pizza!..........P

Thanks.... I just printed all the Orlando area addresses! ...P

Thanks, sdamico71!

I've so far won four gift certificate from Restaurant.com! They make great gifts!

Thanks!

ALSO:

Thanks for the update on the new CiCi's Stepharoonie! We love CiCi's here in Atlanta and it's the best deal in town!

Thank's for the Cici's website. However, being that I know nothing about Orlando, which site is closest to WDW?

Thanks,
Sherri

The one on Palm Pkway is close to the 535 entrance to WDW. At least that the one I can figure out!

I have to chime in on Ci Ci's Pizza. Sorry to disagree, but YUCk. I have to say none of my kids will eat the food there. I would sooner eat PB&J in my room. I have to admit I am a bit of a food snob and very particular about my Pizza. Just thought you should know.

Hey its cheap place parents can sit, kids can eat what they want within reason...

Quality is up to the staff thats working the place. I've had awsome CiCi'ws and cruddy CiCi's...

But Im still looking into setting my own up in my home town...we just gotta super walmart thats right on the main road to 2 other small towns and we would be the first food stop. and it has a blank spot in the parking lot=D

Thanks for the info Robin. I will have to get exact directions between my hotel and Cici's off of map quest.

Thanks Again,
Sherri

Cya There!!

:wave2:

Oh, one more thing. I have been to the restaurant.com site and went through their ebay site to look at the gift certificates that they have available. How do I know which places are the best places to eat near WDW? I am not that familiar with Orlando and I have never heard of any of those places except for Arabian Knights. Any info would be great!!

Thanks,
Sherri

It's pretty easy to get to the Palm Parkway Cici's from I-4. You would take exit 68 going west on 535. You'll almost immediately pass Crossroads Shopping Center on your right, and then you take the next right onto Palm Parkway. After that it is less than a quarter of a mile up, on the right in another shopping center (you'll see it, as it's on the end and their red sign pops out), just before you get to the Comfort Inn.

I thought the pizza was pretty good, and the ingredients seemed fresh, so this must be one of the "good" Cici's and not the "bad" Cici's!

Thanks so much Laura for the detailed directions. That's what I needed. I am so bad at directions anyway!!!

Thanks A Million,
Sherri
