Q. So how long have you been here?
A. Where?

Q. Here on the DIS?
A. I have no idea and why would that matter anyway? Kind of a stupid question.

Q.
A. :confused3

Q. If you could go anyplace in the world, where would you go?
A. Out of this world.

Q. Why does this tv have rabbit ears?:happytv: and why does this computer look like it's from 1980?:surfweb: Do all angels have fluorescent blue faces?:littleangel: And why does this hippie have fingers, but no arm?:hippie:

A. I have no idea.

Well that was pretty boring. So instead I'll tell you a funny story.

One day when I was a kid my mom was cleaning my & my sisters bedroom. She was changing our sheets and went to take my sister's pillowcase off....something moved!:scared1: My mom was sure it was a mouse, so she had me grab ahold of the other end of the pillowcase and dump the mouse out while she stood nearby with a broom (to beat it to death I guess):confused3. I slowly grabbed the end of the pillow and out it fell, I screamed and ran to the door (cuz I hate mice). My mother proceeded to beat the mouse repeatedly with the broom until it no longer moved.......at that point we both took a closer look.....it wasn't a mouse....it was a piece of fried chicken!:rotfl2: Seems my sister had decided that she might need a midnite snack or something and took a leftover piece of chicken from dinner the night before and stuck it in her pillow case. Hey, I never said my family was sane or anything.:lmao:

Morning gals!

OMG Alison you kill me! I am so glad you have come back to join us. That chicken story is hilarious! I've got one almost as good.

We live in a REALLY old house. Built in 1890. And when I lived here as a kid we had no AC so we used to have to leave our windows open in the summer and we had no SCREENS either. :( So one night we were out and we had left the windows open and we had come home from wherever we had been and when I went upstairs to my room I flipped on the light and out of the corner of my eye I saw what I THOUGHT was a bird flying around my room. I RAN back downstairs and screamed to my dad that a bird was in my room. He, being the typical parent, assumes I am using it as an excuse to stay up and thinks it is just a mosquito or something and tells me to just GO TO BED! I start freaking cuz there is NO way I am doing a Tippi Hedren and sleeping with "the birds". So I start screeching my head off so he figures MAYBE there may be some truth in this cuz this seems like more than just the normal plea to stay up late. So he reluctantly gets off the sofa, goes up, flips on the light and then I here, it's no bird it's an effin BAT!!!!

So I go run and hide in the bathroom while he and my mother put sheets over their heads and hats of course to hold the sheets on because we all KNOW that bats get in your hair and pee amonia LOL and they start chasing this thing around my room with brooms. Now mind you I can ONLY imagine what the shadows down at the street must have looked like. GOD I wish I would have had a video camera!!! Can you imagine what anyone walking by must have thought seeing the shadows of two people with these sheets on their heads chasing what looked like eachother with brooms????

Needless to say my mom grabbed a towel and throws it at the bat getting it tangled in the thing and throws the bat AND the towel out the window and that was the end of the story. But that is always good for a laugh!! :)

Anyway that is my contribution for the day LOL

B have fun at the fair today. We went back in July and sounds like pretty much the same stuff. LOVE the fair. It is always fun!! And good luck to your soon and hopefully he doesn't get too overheated. I can imagine those uniforms must get hot!!

As I said we have our tourney today and Shane and the girls have already left. Shane gets a little OVER exuberant with things so he is off probably WAY early but that's fine. Gives me some nice ALONE time!! ;) Me and Alison are jamming on that alone time! LOVIN it!!

I don't have to leave here for several hours!

Anyway hope you gals have a GREAT saturday and talk later!!

:rotfl2: Fried chicken! That's hilarious.

Kelmac - I'm curious how your parents were able to see through the sheets :rotfl2: They should have cut little holes for eyes and maybe drawn a smiley face.

My little procedure was so easy. My freckles are gone. He took my favorite one though. I had this cute little guy on my breast, and the doctor saw it and said it had to come off because it was a little discolored. Boo. I always told myself that if I died I could indentify myself with that freckle. Now it's gone. :sad2: Now I will never know who I am.

Well today I'm off to shop for a couple of hours. I have a million and one things to do but dh decided to volunteer me to babysit his sisters's kid. Yay. NOT. She better not break anything, or eat anything or move. :rotfl:

LOL Christina yeah they actually had them on either side with them like split in the middle so they can see if that makes sense but I like your version better. Visions of a Charlie Brown Halloween come to mind!! LOL And all I want to know is who the hell told them this crap about the bats and the peeing in your hair. Is this some kind of common knowledge that we are all supposed to know that when a bat flies in your house you automatically know to throw a sheet and straw hat on your head??? LOL I must have missed that lesson in school!! ;)

Oh and if you want to babysit THAT kind of kid I suggest the kind made of plastic ie cabbage patch, American Girl, ya know what I mean LOL. They just kind of sit there and stare and I guarantee rarely break things and seldom eat much!! LOL

If this one gets to be too much of a pain just lock her in the bathroom with some comic books and a jar of peanut butter. Did I just say that? LOL Just kidding! ;)

Alison and Kelly- both of your stories were freakin hilarious! :rotfl:

Bernice- have fun at the fair. That sounds like fun :)

Christina- I'm glad your procedure went well but I am sorry you will miss your favorite freckle  Have fun shopping and that is funny what you said about the babysitting :lmao:

Kelly - that was too funny! I was too funny, I just had tears rolling down my face at the thought of somebody walking by seeing your parents.:rotfl2::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Today I did my part to stimulate the economy. We bought a new travel trailer.:yay::yay::yay:

We got an awesome price on it and it was about 10,000 less then we thought we were going to have to spend. :thumbsup2 Anyway, they already took it off their website, but here's another one that was very similar. You can click on the smaller images and it will show the inside and everything.

http://www.olingertravelhomes.com/travel-trailer/2010/dutchmen-freedom-spirit/108460

It's basically the same floor plan, but our cabinets are a dark cherry color and upholstery is a different, darker pattern. We traded our old trailer, so we take it in on Tuesday and pick up the new one.:banana:

The floor plan will work way better for us, even with the couch make into a bed we still have room to walk thru the trailer. The other one we had about a 3 inch path to walk thru when the couch was made into a bed. I tell you I could have easily got a $30,000 trailer, but I just kept telling myself...we just camp in this, I don't need fancy. They kept showing us nicer ones and finally I just had to tell the salesman, sorry, but we're just not fancy people. We want a place to keep our food, sleep and use the bathroom...we're not living in the thing! DH was happy also because we have upgraded from metal to fiberglass exterior and also it does not have a slide to worry about leaking.

So guess what I'm doing next weekend? I'm going to the beach camping in my NEW trailer!:rotfl::thumbsup2:yay::dance3::cheer2:

So I'm curious, how were you planning on identifying yourself if you were dead?:rotfl2:

But I know what you mean...when my kids were babies, I always looked for those little identifying freckles & moles. So if somebody stole my babes, I could positively identify them!:lmao:

Evening ladies!

Alison and Kelly, those were pretty funny stories!! LOL!!! I could see myself beating up the chicken bone too. :rotfl:

Congrats on the new trailer. How fun! We want to get a new one too, one of these days. :thumbsup2 Ours is pretty old, but it still does the trick.

Christina, good thing they removed some of your freckles. You don't want to take any chances on skin cancer. I have had lots of stuff removed and burned off myself. I had a big mole on my back since birth removed, and like you, I felt I had lost my identity. :sad2: That was years ago, and good thing I did, cuz it was the kind to get cancer.

Bernice, have fun at the fair! :dance3:

Hi Megan! How goes the teen stuff? popcorn::

Morning and happy Sunday!!

Alison COOL on the trailer!! We have been talking about getting one for YEARS! I used to camp as a kid and did it quite a bit with the ex but have only gone ONCE with my current dh because we had the kids right away and now I am just too old and can't deal with tent camping anymore. We said that if we were ever going to go camping we would HAVE to have a trailer. We have been wanting to do it but just never got around to it. As you know life and all LOL. LOVE yours and have FUN! So jealous!! :)

B I hope you had fun at the fair!! We try to go every year and we had fun this year!! Hope your son did well with his band performance!!

Hi Christina!!

We had a fairly good day yesterday. I headed over to the tournament and it was FREEZING. So weird since earlier in the week it was 110!! Talk about a HUGE change in the weather. It was 50 some odd degrees yesterday! It also rained yesterday morning and this morning! WEIRD! Anyway it was REALLY windy and we were all bundled up but the girls did well and it was our first game with our new team (we added like 7 girls from our orig team). They did well and won both their games so they should be seeded fairly high. I think div 1 or 2! It will be a challenge for them being their first year as U12 but I think they can handle it! Should make for an exciting year!

Anyway then I got an AWESOME coupon for children's place on my computer so the girls and I ran over to the mall and picked up a couple cute things for school.

Then it was back home and we just watched more of my lost dvd and ordered in chinese so it was a good day!!

Today it is just relax day. Laundry, grocery store and relaxing before the new week.

As I had mentioned we have back to school on Wed which I always enjoy because I like to meet the girls teachers and see what their expectations are but I hate that it is usually at the same time so we have to split up. I don't know either one of these teachers and would really like to get to know them both since I volunteer at the school and such. Shane will have to go to one of the meetings and he will get all the info but I am bummed that I can't meet them both!

Anyway then the next night is soccer pics and next weekend should be exciting. We have this bbq with my mom's side of the family every year but since mom usually works out of town every weekend we very rarely get to go. I don't think we have gone in about 3 or 4 years so I am anxious to go and see everyone.

Anyway hope everyone has a GREAT sunday and talk to everyone soon!!

Hi Melody - good to hear from you. Now is the time to get a new trailer, the prices are really low. However, I suspect they will get even lower this winter.

Our trailer was only 6 years old, but it was starting to have some problems and DH thought it best to trade it in. I think he was right, because we could have started sinking a lot of money into it. Ours was a real entry level one and our first rv. The size was right for us, but it was a learning experience in things we did & did not want. We felt a lot more educated when looking at them this time.

wohoo an Alison self interview!:rotfl:

Cool on the new trailer. My parents still have their 1975 camper, the type that sits on the bed of a truck. It's been in storage for many years now, they put a lot of work into it over the years to seal all the edges, replacing parts and making new cushions. It's tiny, I recall feeling very squished in my growing up years and now.. I can't imagine being in something that small! I like camping (tent), but Eloy doesn't as much. So we get one or two trips a year at most.

We hope to go stay in a camper cabin in a state park next year. Go be a tourist n the area and have a cheap place to stay.. minus the discomfort of tent sleeping.

The fair was fun! Tiring, walked too much in the heat fun.
The band looked great, kinda peeved at the lack of crowd control. People walking across right out in front of the performers or edging too far from the curb. I think the state fair staff did a horrible job of pacing. There were looooooooooong gaps between floats and the bands. People thought the parade was over and started milling around. :sad2: The band director looked PISSED and got in some lady's face, not sure what is was about..I think he was upset that her family was in the way? :confused3

We watched a lot of cooking demos this time, always something new for us to discover at the fair.:) Justin stayed after the parade and hung out with a friend.. of the female variety. :cutie: He was so cute when he came home later and told us ..giddy, excited, blushing.

I was like, honey go smell his breath and check his eyes, he must be on something! :rotfl2:

Today is a much needed sit back and relax day.

wow.. read a post on the budget board, there are some crabby judgmental posters out there.. scary stuff! I think the mods must be on vacation, it's not the only thread with political debate and feisty posts. :sad2:

Of course I posted.. hey she was asking for resources specific to MN..I couldn't resist! Knowing the resources, or finding them, is totally my best feature. :thumbsup2

And time to whine..

90 plus degrees today :scared1:
oh c'mon and be fall already!

whine ends, that is all.

uh-oh

Justin only used one piece of tap to secure the drain line tonight. It managed to come loose and fell to the floor for who knows how long. In front of the sink to the back wall under the stove had standing water of used dialysate (EWWWWW). After the boys and I cleaned it all up, I noticed the carpet was wet on the edge between hall and kitchen. Felt along that wall and around the corner in the hall that shares the wall facing the backside of the stove. All of it was wet!

Sopped up all the water, washed it all down and sponged up what I could of the carpet. Eloy is convinced that it leaked under to the apartment below and is painting the grim picture of our renter's insurance going up due to a claim and the owner not renewing our lease next year.:guilty:

I told him, knock it off!

No reason to worry until we know if it leaked through or not.

We've had leaks before: the first time we made batch and our nurse told us erroneously we didn't need the drain line up - it oozed all over the bedroom floor (nasty smelly yuck!), drain line moved by the cat, dialysate tub leaks from a faulty sak, the time the cat bit the water line and soaked the hallway when we made batch (we weren't home).
None of those resulted in leaks through the floor.

The carpet is horrible in our apartment, it was when we moved in. Plus it had melted wax / scorching in the living room. They will need to replace it and the pad regardless of the fluid leakage as it has been stretched too many times - rumpled, pulling loose along seams. It's the cheapest stuff that comes on a big roll, just one step above the green outdoor carpet that looks like grass. We priced it out at Menard's. :rotfl:

DH is going to ask the caretaker to be let in the apt downstairs to peek tomorrow.

Morning and Happy Monday!!

B that is so funny that you mentioned the nasty poster on the budget boards. What IS it with these boards lately??? I mean these people are crawling out of the woodwork with their crabbiness and it is just ridiculous to me that they are so mean and judgmental esp on a "Disney" board. Sheesh! I used to belong to a babycenter board before shelby was born and then all the way till she was almost in kindgergarten and boy TAHT can get ugly when you have a bunch of different mom's. To breast feed or not, to co-sleep or not. Etc etc. There are some mom's who are ultra conservative and then some who are really liberal and on and on. In fact some of us had to start a private room because there were issues on our group but eventually it just got too much for me and I left. Then when shane got deployed for Iraq I joined a military wives support group and BOY talk about the controversies there. When you get women whose husbands are being deployed and called up against their will THAT causes issues. We had the wives who's dh's had been in for years who then went after the young naive ones who had the nerve to complain and then people who just complained about the whole war or the situation and there were CONSTANTLY arguments and trolls and heated debates. I still belong to that board but I just mostly lurk and post every so often but I was SO happy to come to these boards because MOSTLY it was always happy. People were happily planning trips and after all WHAT was there to complain about on a Disney board right???? WRONG. Sheesh. It amazes me some of the stuff I see people rag on other people about. Esp the DW boards. Man some of those people over there can be downright brutal. But I just had someone on the DL board slam me for a typo for god's sake. Sheesh!

CRAZY!

Anyway off my soap box for today lol. Anyway that sucks about your leak. I hope that it didn't go through to the downstairs apt and what a pain in the butt to have to clean up!! I will be thinking good thoughts that everything works out for you guys!!!

As for me yesterday we just hung out and chilled as I said and I ended up with another stupid sinus headache. I think it might be because of all these wild weather changes. Going from triple digits to 50 something and the wind and rain REALLY messes with my head. The barometric changes and all the crap that is stirred up in the air by the wind etc. I slept like crap last night too so I am literally going to be the walking dead today at work LOL. And of course today Shelby is starting piano so it is going to be a LOOOONG day.

Then the girls brought home a flier for skate night for school and we usually never get to do any of the school stuff because it always interferes with sports but the girls REALLY wanted to go so I told them if they could convince their dad to let them skip soccer practice I would be happy to take them and he actually said they could go. SOOO tomorrow we will be doing that! I am glad for them and since this is Katy's last year I am hoping we do more of this stuff so she can enjoy her last year!

Anyway I am off to get organized but hope you all have a GREAT day!

Oh please give me some of your weather! It's been like 46 degrees here for the weekend. I haven't gotten any sunshine this summer and I'm mad! Well I shouldn't say I haven't gotten any but certainly not very much, unlike you. SHARE! And that really sucks about your leak. Leaks suck so bad, I hope it hasn't gone through to the apartment below. Doesn't your caretaker take care of leaks and such?

Kelmac - I always seem to get sucked into online debates. I don't know why everyone can't just get along and agree to disagree sometimes, the world would be a much happier place. But then again I think there some types of people who really enjoy arguing and trying to make people feel bad about their choices. :sad2:

Oh I know Christina I HATE that. I usually try to stay out of stuff but it seems like sometimes people just come after me. I must be an easy target LOL. And a lot of times I try to ignore stuff because I don't like arguments or controversy but sometimes there is only so much you can take you know! But you are right it is ridiculous and I DEF think there are some people that feed off drama and just love to perpetuate it. I have enough of that in my real life I certainly don't need it on here too. This is where I come to just talk and have fun. Sure sometimes I need to vent too but when I do I would hope to get support not criticism but anyway nuff of that.

Hope you all are having a good day!!

I'm sitting here at work and it is just comical. As always things are ugly and we cut some checks on Friday but of course are holding them to cover the bills I had to pay and some of the agents are hassling me for their checks but of course they don't seem to care that my mom has THOUSANDS of dollars of her own money being "held" to cover the bills. It is just ludicrous. It is WAY too long of a story but I just get so frustrated with the greediness and ridiculousnos of it all. I NEED my job but I sure don't like it most of the time. It is SO stressful. BLEH!

Be glad when I can go pick up my girls and find out how their day was and anxious to see how shelby's piano lesson is going to go. She is SO excited!! :)

Ugh.. I hate drama, and I have NO time for it. I just stay away from stuff like that. No posting of opinions, or anything!:lmao:

Anyways.. We had a great weekend. We went to a swim party on Sat. That was fun.. Then Dh and I had our first date night in like 5 years Sat. night. It was great. I got totally wasted at a bar. :sad2::rotfl2: Then we got home, he gave me more beer, and I fell asleep. :lmao: I think he was trying to get some.. Next time he might not try so hard to make sure Im drunk. :lmao::lmao: Then we went to my moms house on SUnday. It was a good trip. We got home and everyone one was super tired and we all were in bed by nine.

Oh I remember those days. I think literally for the first five years of our marriage(once we had kids) we didn't even have ONE night alone because my parents aren't the babysitting type and I don't even remember if we even had a movie night or anything. I just remember it was a LONG time and it was so nice to FINALLY get a grown up night! LOL about the getting drunk. I stopped drinking LONG ago cuz too many years of hugging the porcelin god and booze just doesn't agree with me. I will have the occasional cocktail maybe once or twice a year but usually NEVER more than one and VERY rarely. Just doesn't appeal to me any more. I remember how I felt WAY too vividly LOL. That is so funny about you falling asleep. LOVE it!! :) Glad you had fun!!

I am hoping that THIS weekend will be fun for us!! I am really looking forward to seeing all my relatives I haven't seen in several years!!
